Alright everyone, tear it to pieces. I haven't used it in a tournament YET, but I will on Friday.
3x Ob Nixilis, the Fallen
1x Ulamog, the Infinite Gyre
1x Mephidross Vampire
1x Liliana Vess
1x Sorin Markov
1x Miri the Cursed
1x Kalitas, Bloodchief of Ghet
1x Hellcarver Demon
1x Reiver Demon
2x Phage the Untouchable
4x Vampire Nighthawk (Of course. How could I not?)
2X Black Ritual
3X Platinum Angel (one from Mirrodin, one from 2010, and one from 2011)
3x Black Knight
4x Doomblade
4x Terror
4x Bloodchief Ascension
3x Consuming Vapor
4x Baneful Omen
4x Whispersilk Cloak (The Mirrodin originals, not this M11 Blasphemy)
1x Sever Soul (I would include 3 more if I could, I only have one card and somehow, nobody seems to have any )
1x Choice of Damnations (I call this my "OH ☺☺☺☺" card, because whenever I play it, my opponent exclaims the previous.)
1x Sanguine Bond (Would add more if I had them...)
1x Eldrazi Conscription
1x Eternity Vessel (Foil, the only one I've ever seen)
2x Corrupt
1x No Mercy
40x Swamp
The main strategy of the deck is to put down a Vampire Nighthawk or a Black Knight to defend until I can call in my Drain cards. Hence, Stall and Drain. The deck is all about sucking the life out of an opponent to give it back to me, with cards like Sanguine Bond, Sever Soul, and Consuming Vapor. For my small black creatures, there really won't be very much to defend against with a combination of Consuming Vapor, Terror, and Doomblade.
One of the WORST features of this deck (from an outside standpoint) is the fact that I have 4 Baneful Omens in a deck full of expensive cast cards.
They do stack, so let's say I have 2 out and reveal a Corrupt. That's 12 damage right there, in a single turn. Nasty stuff.
If the main weakness of this deck would be the beginning, with a lack of small creatures and easily cast spells, the true strength would be in the middle game. The cheapest combo in this deck is the Whispersilk Cloak on Phage. This means she's unblockable, shroud, and as soon as she attacks I win the game. This combo can be done as early as turn 5 with my Dark Ritual in hand, or turn 3 with both (as unlikely as it seems, I've seen more impossible things happen.)
Eldrazi Conscription isn't really something that I'll rely too heavily on, and I have almost no chance of ever USING Ulamog. Although EC is something I would absolutely LOVE to put on my Vampire Nighthawk, Ulamog? Well... He's there just in case I absolutely need a heavy hitter in a stalled out end game.
Vampire Nighthawk. I could call it the staple of my deck. Cheap? Yes. Overpowered? Check. A stupid oversight by Wizards that it got printed as Uncommon? You betcha. It's an awesome card. Equip Whispersilk Cloak with it, and your guaranteed a pinprick with lifegain EVERY turn. This really helps, as counter intuitive as it is comeing from a Monoblack player, I say every bit of life helps.
Mephidross Vampire is a throwback to Fifth Dawn, which is one of my favorite sets ever. He really does help keep the battlefield in my favor, and after a few turns my mildly strong black creatures can match up to some of the most powerful green creatures currently in print. (http://www.halfpricehobbies.com/catalog/images/mephidross_vampire%5B1%5D.jpg there's a link for anyone who doesn't remember him)
Pulling a turn 5 Ob Nixilis can be absolutely brutal to the opponent, especially with the fact that I have this 96 card deck stacked with 40 swamps. (Honestly mana flood is really never a problem for me, I guess I'm just lucky)
However, instead of turn 5 Ob Nix, I usually wait until turn 6, play him, and THEN put down my 6th land, so he comes out as a 6/6 for 5 and deals 3 damage to an opponent
Within 3 turns assuming you have 3 lands, Ob Nixilis has just drained 9 life, and is now a 12/12. They kill him with a lucky draw or whatever else, and chances are I might very well play another to continue the cycle.
If I'm seriously screwed, Hellcarver Demon can reverse the tide in a single turn, potentially. If I'm doing well, he's still a 6/6 flying blocker that can hit for 6 in an emergency.
Kalitas fits right in with my mildly vampiric themed deck, and the killing a creature for 3 is nice. He's my answer to other monoblack decks, actually. The fact that I basically GET whatever he kills is just a fringe benefit.
Reiver Demon can be a terror. Almost literally. I play him, and because all of my creatures are black, they're safe. If my opponent is Green, or White and has a whole bunch of blockers or attackers out, they get screwed prettttyyyy hard. Expensive but useful.
Eternity Vessel can really save me if I get low on life (somehow) as long as I get it out early enough.
Any flaws with the deck? Obvious weaknesses I overlooked? Or maybe... could someone have something POSITIVE to say about this deck???
I... am having trouble understanding what format this is for. Definitely not block. Also why so many cards?? D:
I've argued with people over the number of cards in a deck many times, and I feel that having a high number of "good cards" is better than having a small number of "really good" cards. I laugh at the people who argue that with a smaller deck you're more likely to draw what you need, because if you get in that situation you're gonna NOT end up drawing it many many more times than you would.
To be honest I have no idea what format... All I know was that this deck was for what the tournament I went to called "Constructed."
So now I'm rather confused as well...
You have an 100 card deck? With singles in it?
Buddy you have to learn how to build decks.
If I play a 60 card deck with only good cards with every card 4 of, I have a 1 in 15 chance of drawing one of the four. YOu have a 1 in 100 chance of drawing the card you want.
I think you are going to a standard competition. They only accept Alara block M10 M11 and zendikar block there. SO you may have to switch some cards here and there.

Granted, but I already argued my case above.
The singles really aren't "STAPLES" so much as they are "Oh I drew this? Cool. It's worth a shot."
And most of the singles are bolt bait anyway to save my Nighthawks.
I'm working with a limited budget here lol, I can't afford to buy cards in huge numbers or anything, and online purchasing isn't something I have the ability to do short of money orders, and I don't really have the motivation to go out and buy a money order every time I want to purchase a few copies of a single card.
It's not a matter of ability when it comes to me building this deck, it's a matter of resources available. I've done the best I can here.
Also. A lot of the singles have limited playability, and are mostly just in case.
If you are going to a block constructed tournament this deck is bad.
For block you are only allowed to play cards from zendikar block.
You don't need a huge lot of money to buy the cards you need for a sixty card deck.
Tell me what format the tournament you are going is and I can help you with the deck.
