ANT vs. Elves in finals. Seven archetypes represented in top 8. Legacy is awesome.

Due to real-life obligations, I am taking a long break from Magic which may include missing the local Legacy GP. Apologies for not being able to keep my threads updated.
Great to see Storm winning a Grand Prix. I just took my TES deck apart to make Reanimator but his take is quite interesting. Might give Storm a try again.
Special thanks to Hakai Studios and SushiOtter for the sig!

there were however a few delvers in the top 32.. however people were of course prepared for it, just goes to show how good the deck is when it can still post some good showings.

"Should have draw a card on it, still only playable in casual or limited. I mean it loses to liquify"

Is the deck good? Absolutely, tempo thresh in 2008 was one of the top decks. When it got the addition of delver, it reinvigorated the deck. The deck is also quite good against unfair decks typically, and right now unfair decks are driving legacy deck design. The deck isn't banworthy though, if you want to beat RUG it is rather easy to do so.
European GPs will have video coverage come GP Lyons. Which I am glad for, as reading play by play what a storm player is doing is super meh in comparison to watching. Especially when coverage teams get things wrong or don't explain all the details.

"Yawgmoth," Freyalise whispered as she set the bomb, "now you will pay for your treachery."

His version of Storm looks very interesting. He appears to take the best parts from builds like TES and ANT and then combined them to get his decklist.

I believe that variant is called TNT, though I haven't looked at the decklist yet.

Tantarus: It didn't make the gaka greifer level, so it should be fine

Certainly, I agree 100% the new Counterbalance Miracle decks are quite good against thresh because CB blanks almost their entire deck and Terminus dodges daze and Spell Pierce easily.
However the top 8 also goes to show how different the European metagame and the American are.
PS: I started playing legacy back in 2007, I remember how good thresh used to be ^^

Personally, I really like the list. The only thing I would change are the grafdigger's cage in the SB, as it stops your own past in flames. Rather just play extirpate for gravehate, and as a bonus extirpating force of will is a great play.

That's exactly the same thing I thought of when I saw the list (Extirpate is also uncounterable against Reanimator, a huge plus) and just some other minor tweaks. Past in Flames is my favorite engine in the deck and most games I play get there using Flashbacky Yawg Will.
I was extremely pleased to see a Storm variant place, as it's my favorite archetype and I couldn't help but feel it has been under-represented in the past few months. (compared to Belcher, Reanimator, and Sneak and Show) In general, the top 8/32 brought me in joy in the sheer diversity of the format.
