Ok, just played three matches. Match one game one I had 2 Land Taxes and a Scroll Rack active on turn 5. He shook his head and resigned. Game two I landed a T1 Land Tax on the play with a one-lander hand and tutored for Scroll Rack on turn 4. I got out Solitary and was living the dream and killed him off of Luminarch.
Match 2 I lost to MUD Stompy. Game one he opened T1 CotV, T2 Lodestone I never recovered. Game 2 I opened with a ET for Land Tax an dropped it on turn 2 with a second land (no tutors in hand, I had ORing and Solitary). That second land was likely a mistake, as he played a second tomb and dropped a Lodestone. I used my Oring on his metalworker, and dropped Solitary at 10 life. I couldn't get Land Tax activated though, and Solitary was just refilling his hand and emptying mine. I left it die and lost.
Match 3 I opened with Mox pass and was surprised to see him do the same, discarding a plains! I tutored for a Land Tax and played it, and we went draw go for a while. He finally dropped a Karakas and next turn ORing'd my Land Tax, but I had another. He drops and Elspeth, and I screw up by EOT tutoring for the Needle instead of after the Tax activation. By now it's turn 10 and I know he's on Quinn. I tutor for Scroll Rack with no mana up, and he drops a Needle. He has his engine going at this point, but I am stuck and have used up all my ETutors. I kill his one token with a Terminus. At this point I am really wishing I had included some Factories, as by turn 16 we are both just sitting there really. I topdeck a Oring and hit his needle. two turns later I tap one Scroll, drawing my entire deck, then tap another putting exactly one card back - entreat. Which I then draw as my first card and cast for x=5 off of a Sanctum.

Good, i'm glad to hear that. I told you on mishra's factory ! Were you playing some powder kegs ? if so, it's pretty unfortunate that you didn't find any to blow the needle.
I did some testing here too. I've removed the ancient den and i've added another zuran orb. It's crucial and we don't want to tutor up for it too often. I was also finding myself land flooded, so removing one land was easy. I way even remove another to put a 4th mox diamond. That deck can un on a very, very low land count. That why it got land tax !
Sorry I had to run before finishing the report. The mirror match vs Quinn was the purest form of hell. We went to three games and the shortest was the one I described. Game 2 I lost because I actually milled myself after neither of us had any wincons left. He had a Needle on Elspeth, I had one on Luminarch, and we both went off with Entreat only to have the other find Terminus. He was playing Quin with Land Tax and Scroll Rack. Game three he conceded when we had both disabled all the win cons and he had less cards left in his deck.
I was not able to use Keg as I had a Needle preventing his Elspeth from killing me.
Question: We both assumed that you cannot set 7 cards face down if you gave less than 7 cards in your deck. Is this correct, or should games 2 and 3 have ended in a draw as we both had Scroll Rack out?
I'm switching my Cities for Factories as I mentioned. I'm going to boot up MWS to test some more. I didn't explicitly state it, but the first match was vs the Rock without GSZ.
Agreed on Zuran, I'm going to add a second over a Plains (14 Plains, 3 Factory, 1 Karakas, 2 Sanctum).
Oracle Text: 1, Tap: Exile any number of cards from your hand face down. Put that many cards from the top of your library into your hand. Then look at the exiled cards and put them on top of your library in any order.
The great thing about Scroll Rack is that you can put back say 7 cards on top even if you have 1 cards left in the deck. You just have to perform as much of the action as possible which would be putting the 1 card into your hand then setting the 7 cards on top in any order. So in your case games 2 and 3 could have been draws. I remember it working this way about 8-10 years ago when I used to play Parfait in Vintage but it has been awhile so I could be wrong.
One issue I am having is what hands to keep. Obviously Plains+Land Tax/ET is a keepable hand, but besides that I'm not sure. I often get hands that are 1-2 lands and a bunch of random stuff, and I don't know what to do with it.
Played vs S&T, won 2-1 after three very close games. G1 I had two Orings but he had three S&T Game 2 I opened with Karakas, Land Tax and had a Needle and an Oring in hand, he tried a Emmy, then later a Gristel (good thing it wasn't in the other order!), and I beat him with Entreat for x=3. Game 3 was another nail-biter. He dropped a Iona, but I topdecked Karakas. That set him back but he eventually found a Needle, but then had to choose between my Scroll Rack and Karakas. He picked Karakas and then did S&T the same turn with an Emmy, I had a bunch of lands in hand, plus Terminus. I activated Terminus during my upkeep and sent the Emmy away, and I eventually won by casting Entreat from my hand.
Kicked the stuffing out of some BGx Midrange decks, both GSZ decks and Liliana ones, and one NO Bant. Midrange is a pretty solid matchup, obviously blue decks are harder, but nonblue ones are pretty easy wins.
Had a close match with mono-black Reanimator G1, but game 2 and 3 I opened with a Cage and Cage + Crypt respectively.
Lost to Affinity and RUG Delver twice, all three matches 0-2. Stupid fliers
I'm not thrilled with how Powder Keg has been, it's good but three is too many. On the sb, Canonist is a dud, as is Halo. I'll be making the following changes:
I wonder if Meekstone has a place in this deck and metagame? It locks down flipped Delvers and thresh'ed Mongeese for the fantastic price of :1mana:. Seems worth testing, although the win conditions may have to be re-evaluated. Elspeth works great with it, Ascension is still okay, but Entreat is not so good.

How I'd Elspeth good with Meekstone if you want to be jumping your guys? I mean, you *could* beat down with 1/1s. He'll, you could just blow it up before u swing for game
Edit: Thoughts on Diamond vs Chrome? We already have a bunch of artifacts, but I've had hands I couldn't keep because I had just Diamond, and many hands where I wished my Diamond was a Chrome so I could gave 2 mana.
Edit: I played some more matches.
Burn: 2-1, 2-1, 2-1, 2-0. Kinda hard to lose post sb

Meekstone doesn't prevent attacking, just untapping. Since Elspeth's +3/+3 only lasts until end of turn, her 1/1 tokens will untap as normal. But that's the drawback to Meekstone. Each Delver, Mongoose, and Tarmogoyf can get a swing in, so I don't know if it is really good enough. It slows them, but is that enough?

Oh, yea, duh. Well, we usually win in one swing, so it looks good to me. Zuran gains life and we can afford to get hit once or twice by Delver, just not a dozen times.
I wont be able to test tomorrow most likely, but here's my final list today.
The more I play the less I like Powder Keg. It seems great on paper but ultimately is rather bland. I stop mass creatures with blanket effects and Terminus and also have spot removal. Seal of Cleansing is easier to use vs Artifacts, kills enchantments, and doesn't need to be ticked up.
Would you take this to, I dunno, some SCG event or something?
Also your list is 61 cards. I know some people have a reason for this, but just making sure it wasn't unintentional.
Ah, fixed that. I had an extra Sanctum.
As for if I'm convinced... Depends on what you mean. Could it be a good deck? Yes. Is Land Tax unplayable? No. Is this deck competitive? Dunno.
Mainly I love Legacy and love brewing You never know what you will come up with. I've brewed and devised HexDepths decks that never worked out, and I've brewed and wound up with what's now competitive Affinity (there's a great story to that, I scribbled down basically current Affinity lists on a napkin at a prerelease after opening double Tezzeret AoB.)
I would want to practice a lot before taking this to a major tourniment... It's not the style deck I'm best with. I'm pretty sure I have 1 top 8 at a 50+ man tournament with a serious control deck and that was lands ages ago.
I'm also working on a BW deck with Land Tax, though I'm yet to test it. I'm also unsure if I want to co us on a Pox style or a Zombie Infestation list, but I think the second is a little too jank.
I played one game against Merfolk just now, using your more recent posted list. I'm not sure whether it was because the match-up was bad; it could be, because it's aggressive and disruptive, but a lot of your better spells blank Cursecatcher (though he still tried to sacrifice it to counter an enchantment - twice). Still hard as hell to resolve a Path, though. :|
First game I opened with Rack and Tax but I never found Zuran Orb and he just decided to stay on one land (with Vial). I can't tell you how aggravating this was.
Second I managed to blow up Vial with Seal of Cleansing but died anyway. Path to Exile got Spellstutter Sprite-ed (???).
But thankfully Merfolk is dead so I don't think it matters.
Merfolk? For reals? Lol. Vial decks will be annoying, but you gotta just say screw it and hope you draw your lands I think. Or you have Needle and Seal.
If we were to do a BW Parfait, do you think Zombie Infestation could be a win-con?
Don't ask me that. I've been trying to force Zombie Infestion-Life from the Loam in Modern for six or seven months now. My answer will be yes regardless of whether or not it's a good idea. I love that card way too much.
My Aggro Loam even plays Infestation in place of Assault.
Seriously, though? It's a very good enchantment. Played correctly, you give control fits and grind aggro to a snail's crawl. With the right engine the power level of the card is fairly absurd.
If I were to try that, I would just fit Infestation into this deck. With Infestation you don't need Elspeth, Humility, or any of these absurdly expensive spells. Your Meekstones are much better because your guys are 2/2s. I would even include one green source plus Life from the Loam as a back-up plan. Possibly Pernicious Deed as well.
Hey Ragged Joe, would you mind if I take your list at a local tournament?
Feel free to copy anything I post mate.
Also, what would your replace Powder Keg with?
I'd like to try out Meekstone really. I think a singleton Keg might be useful, but hopefully Meekstone+PtE+Terminus will handle creatures. In my testing I usually found myself using it as pinpoint removal anyways.
I personally do not like Story Circle as its too mana intensive. What about Ghost Prison or Runed Halo on that slot?
Stony Circle is a card I was wondering about. Your right that it's quite mans intensive, though it's a nice effect to have MD. Unlike Keg, I never felt it was in the way, though that's mainly because I rarely drew it. I never tutored for it in any of my matches. Ghostly Prison is a fine replacement. I wouldn't play Helo, as I mentioned I had 2 in the sb but never wanted them.
Also, why isn't Armageddon utilized? It seems to be a great Land Tax enabler.
It costs 4 and doesn't do a whole lot. Resolving Moat or Humility vs midrange or Aggro generally locks them out of the game. Geddon doesn't do that. Remember you need Tax activations early for mana and at the endgame to win. But you don't actually want Plains in the endgame, you want to use them to dig for wincons with Scroll Rack. It's rather hard to cast Elspeth or some other win-con after a Geddon.
Maybe. I'll think about other options. The issue with Abolish is that unless you have Land Tax it's hard to spare a Plains... And why do you care about CotV in that case? Miracle works against us for CotV, as you want to blow it ASAP, and only 20% of the cards you see before T4 can be casted for a miracle cost
Also, have you considered the nuisance of Mana Tithe?
Generally, I find I use up all my mana. Also, we are not that kind of control deck.
Don't ask me that. I've been trying to force Zombie Infestion-Life from the Loam in Modern for six or seven months now. My answer will be yes regardless of whether or not it's a good idea. I love that card way too much.

Those are probably correct numbers. I'm finding myself often clog with 1-2 argivian find in hand while having nothing to return. I was also thinkering about a 4th tutor but wasn't sure of what to take in it's place.
I think armagueddon is cute and powerful but i just don't think you can stuff it in there and call it a day. By the time you get to 4 mana and get a tax in play, it will take more than armagueddon to recover if you aren't already in some sort of control. What i mean is, armagueddon is very powerful and can be so good with land tax. If it's the way to go, fine, but we'll have to focus more on it to unleash it's true potential.
Tried a couple of the lists in this thread and they all seem to get wrecked by fast aggro decks. What's everyone else's experience with this? Also noticed that dredge isn't that fun of a match-up, even with 4 md Tutors and grafdigger's cage md.
My comment, minimally productive as usual, is that a Parfait is a frozen dessert. Yet I consistently see basic lands in here that aren't snow-covered! What's up with that?
If there's any deck that needs to get the 'flavor' right, it's the one called Parfait.
What about Trinisphere? With Mox Diamond/Chrome Mox/City of Traitors it is not that hard to get out T1 and it helps out the deck a lot. First thing it does is slow down pretty much every other deck out there (which helps since this deck is a little slower to get everything going). This also gets rid of any difficulty in making sure you have less lands than an opponent and makes Armageddon/Ghostly Prison/Wasteland all much more powerful.
It is definitely influenced by a Stax shell, but I'd be really interested in testing something like this (Prison Tax):
How can you argivian find a Orim's Chant?
Super secret tech yo?
Standard: XDon't play.X
Legacy: BUReanimatorUB
Vintage: URBWGDBRU
It reccur the enchantment and artifacts that get countered (land tax, scroll rack, powder keg). If you look at my list there is no orim's chant.
So, no secret tech here, just common sense.
Match 2 I lost to MUD Stompy. Game one he opened T1 CotV, T2 Lodestone I never recovered.

And Crystal Veins has that built in sacrifice outlet.

If there's any deck that needs to get the 'flavor' right, it's the one called Parfait.
