Vexing Devil merits testing, at the very least. At some point, choice cards are viable if both choices are bad for the opposing player. Is the choice of 4 damage or a 4/3 enough? I'm not sure. I do know that Killing Wave is terrible.
In other news, Harvester of Souls is cute, and I like the card. He's totally outclassed in cube, however.

Yeah he fails the vindicate test, and his just isn't as good as a card like Kokusho or Grave Titan. To be fair I have been wanting to cut Ink-Eyes, but I don't know if this is the swap I'm looking for
So then don't play the Devil turn 1. Play it on turn 2 after you've paid the echo on your Goblin Patrol. Play it on turn 3 right after you play and equip your Bonesplitter to your echoed Goblin Patrol.
I think it's better in a head-to-head Winston/whatever game in which you need a critical mass of 1-drops to fill in holes where you're not curving out perfectly. Sure, it's almost always in WCS mode, but its WCS fills a pretty neat niche in many cubes.

I could do the same thing with Lava Spike too, with the added benefit of being able to play it as burn in the late game when I really need it to be burn.

but it doesn't help you curve out because its just a conditional 4 damage to the dome and you get no value for playing it early.
I'm definitely cutting Galepowder Mage for Restoration Angel, but I don't see the hype on the paladin. To me he is much worse than Mirran Crusader, since the double strike is going to be unreliable in combat and he is very easy to kill. But if the effect of playing him and giving a creature double strike is better than I expect, I could see changing my mind.
I feel the other way around. The one shot effect on angel to me isn't as good as the repeated effect of Galepowder Mage, but I think soulbound paladin is legit. I agree overall he's not as good as Mirran Crusader because the crusader is a house all by himself. Where as paladin is terrible on an empty board. But if you've got another guy of any size at all paladin is really good. I'm kind of leaning towards cutting Knight of the White Orchid to bring him in.
I'm not even positive I'd play a 4-damage Lava Spike in the cube. Having a body when you need a body or burn when you need burn is so clutch. The creature is way undercosted, so it might still be worth it, but it doesn't look that appealing to me.
If you support blue aggro with evasive 2-drops, the Tandem Lookout is pretty good.
I still don't have any auto-includes yet.
I agree that there aren't any auto-includes yet but there are a bunch of cards I'm going to test, including a number of the miracles, the two good white cards and this Vexing Devil or whatever it's called. Vexing Devil to me clearly isn't one of the best red 1 drops. Goblin Guide and Figure of Destiny are obviously way better. I also think it's worse than a turn 1 Jackal Pup, but it's a better top deck late game and might be reasonably close to Jackal Pup on turn 1. If that's the case it's probably good enough.
I'll probably cut Azure Mage and Daze to try out the Tandem Lookout and 3/1 unblockable (they go great together), but my blue creature section is pretty aggressive with Serendib, Kira, Clique, Wake Thrasher, Pestermite, Mindshrieker, and Invisible Stalker all being potential aggressive beaters.
Tandem lookout looks good, I don't have room for it though.
I'm confused by the 4/3 devil. On one hand a 4 shot lava spike/4/3 creature for R is reallly good. On the other hand browbeat effects generaly suck. On the other hand it's a 4/3 for R.

I'm looking forward to at least trying out the new devil. Even if you always get the worse of the two effects, they're both solid enough that I wouldn't usually mind being "stuck" with the "worse" of the two.
Bear in mind that I do Browbeat in my cube. I know it's not very good, but it is very fun and several people in my group still routinely play it, so I keep it.
We do have an answer to the soulbound question (whether or not I can re-pair it when I cast a new creature if it is still 'bound')
702.92a. Soulbond is a keyword that represents two triggered abilities. "Soulbond" means "When this creature enters the battlefield, if you control both this creature and another creature and both are unpaired, you may pair this creature with another unpaired creature you control for as long as both remain creatures on the battlefield under your control" and "Whenever another creature enters the battlefield under your control, if you control both that creature and this one and both are unpaired, you may pair that creature with this creature for as long as both remain creatures on the battlefield under your control."
Even if the new red devil isn't playable it isn't necessarily a bad thing. It just proves to Wizards that they need to step up their game with red one drops and print better ones in the next set!
Well the demon seems great. Fireblast is a comparison, when you're casting Fireblast hopefully it's at your opponent, and if it's at your opponent you're probably winning. Fitting this in your curve in the early game for a measly R and a card seems good, hopefully you're casting it where your opponent would rather take 4.
When I see Healing Salve, I'm often like "Oh girl, I wish I could turn every card into this." Thanks they removed the gain life part, otherwise this would have been broken.
Devil will probably make my cube as a Stromkirk replacement if it isn't too expensive.
No way, Stromkirk is a very consistent one-drop whereas Unsexy Vexy has high variance. I can imagine many times you'd rather have the smooth talking smooth walking vampire.

I'm just saying as a replacement because I can't afford the noble right now...
Wizards is really making up for lack of money cards last set. This sets have a tons, so far. However, the cubability of last set is also so far much better. Better for my wallet, I guess.

What red one-drops are you currently running? If you can't get a Noble maybe there is a card similar in power level which can fill the void. I think the new dude is a bit of a trap imo and I would be reluctant to spend the asking price for him within the first two weeks of set release.
