Definitely a good card. It doesn't just "die to removal." Survives board wipes with a growing dude. If you can manage two tokens out of him, it was definitely worth the investment of 2 mana.
I think this card is going to be pretty good but Selesnya is SOOOO packed... Also, who else thinks the wording is absolutely TERRIBLE?
Agreed.
And yea, the wording should really have been 2 sentences stating when you get a token. Having it be one big rambling sentence is just sloppy. Almost one of those "god this is so cumbersome, why bother reading how it works" ordeals.
In terms of cube, the effect is SOLID. Last time I checked, beast of burden cost a chunk of mana. Some newer cards like Geist-Honored Monk are beast of burden+. This thing essentially gives you beast of burdens if the opponent interrupts your turn OR when ~ dies. That's really really good.
In terms of the greater GW cardpool, it's safe to say the guild is deep. mad deep. 40 person entourage deep. But GW more than almost every other guild has a variety of builds. You could conceivably run this in a GW beatdown mix featuring loam lion and KotR. You could run it in a hatebears build with gaddock and pridemage. You can run it in a maverick package. You could run it in a GW tokens setup. Lots of possibilities. In terms of raw power, this guy needs testing. However, understand that the opponent shooting him down with removal and killing him while it's your turn means you got 2x beast of burdens right there on the table. Countered creatures are now beast of burden. Major testing is required to see if this thing can dominate like pack rat's "doubling effect" upside (ie; get crazy out of control).
**EDIT: and by beast of burden, I mean it's one-sided */*

I mean, hell, we're all on a forum for something that most people would describe as a "children's card game"...do what makes you happy. You are never too old to enjoy yourself.
It's probably the best nonKitchen Finks GW card. Really gives it a push against control decks like Gaddock Teeg does but without a downside and with removal protection (it's a 2 mana dude with removal protection... wow). What more could you want?
When I first read the card I was confused and had to read it a few times to actually understand what was going on.
That being said, I'm going to try and make room for this card and see where it takes me. I know that I'm going to lose a great many games to it since I tend to play the blue control deck that this card mashes on.
I'm not sold on this guy. I don't think you are going to get more than one token most of the time nor do I think it will ever get that big. If it does you were probably winning anyway. It can force some sub optimal plays and is good sweeper resistance, but Im not sure thats enough for me.

He's a 2/2 for 2 that forces your opponents to play their instants and creatures with flash at sorcery speed (unless they're removing him to blow up the board).
Then... he makes a Crusader of Odric when he dies.
If the token is a 2/2... and it probably will be a lot of the time (you only need one other dude to do this) then you've already got a TON of value from just 2 mana.
I like that it forces your opponent to change possible lines of play because of how he punishes spell casting on your turn. That effect itself is worth noting not to mention the fact that he only costs 2 mana!
Not sure where I could find a cut for this card but it definitely merits testing. Thinking of it as a grizzly bear with persist as a worst case scenario is pretty sweet. I can't wait to get some extensive testing with it this weekend.
What does Strangleroot Geist have to do with this? One is a multi coloured card, while the other one is green. Even then I might like Geist better, it has haste and survives Wraths. GG is less restrictive than GW.
Not saying this is a bad card, far from it, just that Geist is a very solid green creature.
If they cast a non-Swords/Path removal spell on him the turn he's played, you get a pair of 2/2s for your trouble and that seems pretty damn good. Not to mention those 2/2s are only going to get bigger.
This card definitely got better and better as I took time to read that huge wall of text.

What does Strangleroot Geist have to do with this?
I made the statement purely in a WG deck perspective. GG isn't really less restrictive than WG in that case, as the former influences what you can play T1 unless your first land is a dual. And also was kinda lost didn't mean to post in Cube
This looks better in Cube than Standard. Standard has lots of non-lethal removal and tends to kill creatures via wrath these days. Here, instant speed removal is a bigger deal, and the token is likely to be bigger than a 1/1 when Voice dies. I can see it making the cut.
Wow... definitely deserves some testing. Absulte WCS is you have a 2/2 that makes a 1/1 when it dies. That's not too shabby for 2 mana. At best, it makes your opponent play countermagic and burn as increasing card disadvantage. Dedicated token decks aren't really a thing in my cube, but this works great with them obviously.
I misread the card at first and thought it sucks. Then I remembered when there is one token on the field, there is also one creature on the field, so the token can survive board wipes.
I like this card, I feel like I'll have to cut Knight of the Reliquary for it.
Edit: Just remembered I'm playing Selsnaya Charm. That's my cut!
I'll need to test this but it looks like a hell of a card for two mana. It effectively has persist, but you get something better when it dies. Helps against wraths, resistant to removal, completely hoses counterspells, and forces your opponent to play suboptimally. I'll probably lose the worldwake manland but I'm not sure.
When I see Healing Salve, I'm often like "Oh girl, I wish I could turn every card into this." Thanks they removed the gain life part, otherwise this would have been broken.

This guy just look solid to me unless I'm missing something. I'm not sure how it fares to top G/W card, but it's 2 mana token producer.

Definitely a card you might play (with or against) wrong because of the huge text wall.
Card seems solid. Don't know if I'd play him if he didn't say "dies" on it though
