Grab the Reigns is definitely up there. It's so versatile and disruptive. But other than that I gotta tip my hat to Tooth and Nail. It's just *tear* so awesome. Hulk smash!
My personal favorite is: Rings of Brighthearth. It fuels plenty of infinite combos, but can also be used to get extra value out of...anything. It works great with fetchlands (especially with Crucible), removal spells that are artifact or enchantment based like Brittle Effigy or Seal of Doom, and it can get downright stupid with something like Visara, the Dreadful + Minamo, School at Water's Edge.
Every time I see an activated ability, I consider whether or not I would want to pay 2 to copy that ability. Rings produces an insane amount of card advantage for just 3 mana upfront. I highly recommend giving it a try. You kinda have to build your deck with it in mind, but it also encourages you to play cards that discourage your opponents from picking on you. If nothing else, the fetch land interaction is something every deck can get behind.
Other people mentioned Recurring Insight, Trinket Mage, and Yawgmoth's Will which are among my favorites.
Geth, Lord of the Vaults has been an all-star for me. Man, that guy is good. Its hilarious when you mill them until they hit emrakul and then steal emrakul in response to the shuffle trigger.
I think Stone-Seeder Hierophant probably tops my list of favorite cards. Between fetch lands, ramp spells, and even just 1 land per turn, I never say "Dang, bad topdeck" when I see her.
Also, Genesis Wave. I flipped this card for 12 in a game that I should have lost earlier, and came back to completely win the game. Pure tech in this card.
I have a couple, they're not really that cool I suppose but I think I have pretty good reasoning as to why I like them. When I was growing up I always thought of Magic as being really...well, magical. There was a lot of mystique about the cards and I loved the art on a lot of them. So now that I'm older and I can afford these now really expensive cards I've recently purchased I'm super stoked on it. They're actually the primary reason I got in to EDH, so that I could play with all of those really expensive cards and not have to invest my entire life's savings in buying 4 of each. Anyway, now that you know my life story they're all the fetchlands, original duals, shock lands, force of will, mox diamond and my latest prized possession: Mana Drain. I love playing EDH so I get to play with all of these really old, awesome cards that I might not ever get to play with otherwise. Thanks EDH
I love to take my opponent's things and beat them with it, it is so amusing. I also love to randomly blowing someone out with their own Emrakul. Kinda lame, and makes me a target when someone finally Wraths...but very fun nonetheless.
Everyone in my playgroup seems to demonize the card, and most other blue players don't even play it. They think it's "unfun" to take other people's giant creatures out of their deck. They say the point (or at least one) of EDH is to be able to play with giant creatures (for the record I agree), and that taking them away, at lest out of a player's deck is lame and cheap. It probably is lame and cheap, but it is part of the game. Instead of playing my own big guy, I am just taking theirs.
I actually think that is one of the reasons I enjoy it so much...that my group hates me every time I play it. Has anyone else experienced this with Bribery?
Skullclamp cannot really be considered a best for it was banned upon release. I think the best card/most broken card on that list has to be Bloodbraid Elf. That card was too busted.
In my opinion Vicious Shadows can be ridiculous. Given the right deck it can be an "Oops I win" especially in Malfegor decks. I've also been amazed at the efectiveness of Exsanguinate recently so I'll add it as a close second just for the "I was at 5 life now Im at 40" factor
my favorite card is rhystic study when you play blue you need to play this cards it,s realy too good. some people hate it so much in my playgroup that they spend good spell to destroy it. and some people don't even play spell some turn to avoid let me draw cards.
so it's a counterspell and a draw card for only U2 it's realy too good.
Commandeer. I've used it whenever I get the chance. It has netted me wins off of opponents trying to Boseiju in their Tooth and Nail combos even up to simply taking Sorin for a ride.
Trygon Preditor. Such a simple card with such a powerful effect. Seriously artifacts and enchantments are some of the most powerful cards in the game. Oh and it gets around moat and destroys it. If you play blue green you basically you need to play him. He is like peanut butter to your chocolate.
I think my favorite card would have to be the Master Transmuter. The art is amazing! The ability rocks! Overall, a really really good utility creature.
the only bummer about forger is that there aren't many generals that have red and white that i like
jushi apprentice is up there for me. it starts small and doesn't scare people, but it's still pretty decent instant-speed draw. once it flips, though, he's absolutely nuts...and with a reliquary tower he not only lets you draw irresponsible numbers of cards, it also gives you a wincon.
Mmm, Sunforger. So far, the only non-legendary card that prompted me to build a deck for its colors. It's working out the toolbox that has me stuck ATM, but I'm building it as I go along.
Also, I'm becoming more and more of a fan of Skarrg, the Rage Pits. Being able to give any of your big dudes trample for 2 mana at instant speed? So much fun. ^-^
I have never actually lost a game with her, in multiplayer of course self explanatory card
