Thoughts on Urban Evolution? My best guess is it's 1CMC too high to be playable.
I will probably test it, even if it is slightly expensive, drawing 3 is always good and we get the bonus of playing an additional land. We can cast this Turn 3-4 regularly, refilling our hand after expending our resources.
I'm going to sleeve it up and goldfish with it in the deck today, probably as a 2 of. the more I think about it, the less I like it though. We already don't play Tidings, and the extra card seems better than the half Explore.
I'd rather run something like Plow Under for 5cc and get more value out of it.. I.E; I'd rather put my opponent back 2 turns and just let my deck does what it does. If you need a 5cc card to draw and be an explore you're not running enough accel and draw in the deck anyways. Basically I think its a trap card for decks like Valakut / Ramp stuff.
While I pretty much agree, I am still going to test out 2, to see if it is actually useful or not.
I think Urban Evolution is too expensive, and it's not guaranteed to ramp (what if you draw 3 creatures/spells?). I'm actually more prone to playing Hunting Wilds because it's a ramp spell that's a worse win con against the Slaughter Games decks.
The biggest difference this week is switching Snapcaster Mage for Vendillion Clique. I've also removed Serum Visions for Telling Time (Which I have tested, and it's streets ahead of Visions). I'll post a report tomorrow. My buddy will be there with his Jund deck, so I'm hoping to get to try out Baloths against him.
I've thought about it, because I just really like the card, but I can't see it being good in Modern. It's too slow and there aren't many relevant fliers out there (Resotration Angel/Pestermite aside, as they'll flash in and combo out). Pyroclasm is better against Affinity and Tokens, and if you're looking for a late game alt win condition, Devil's Play seems better as you don't have to get to 22 mana for lethal.

True. I guess Pryoclasm and Firespout will suffice. I just like excuses to buy new cards.
Grats Willier. Did he land Slaughter Games on you at all?
I said yesterday I hoped to test against Jund, so luckily, 2 of 4 rounds were against Jund, one was against a budget White Weenie deck. I wound up 2-1-1.
Round 1 vs Jund
Game 1, I kept a hand with 2 Tribe Elders, 3 land, a Cryptic Command and a Scapeshift. He wins the roll, Thoughtseizezes away an Elder, then next turn his Inquisition of Kozelik's away the other one. Turn 3 he lands Liliana, and I never really get off the ground.
Game 2
I keep 3 lands, Search for Tomorrow, Explore, Telling Time and Lightning Bolt. I Explore and Bolt his Deathrite Shaman . He doesn't have a two drop, or a third land, and Telling Time hits both Scapeshift and a land. He eventually drops a Tarmogoyf, but it's too late and I Scapeshift for the win on turn 6. He showed me his hand after. 4 Liliana of the Veil, 3 Bloodbraid Elf. So, hooray for land screw.
Game 3
I mulligan to 6 and keep 4 lands, Tribe Elder and Rude Awakening. He also mulled to 6. I didn't draw into much for the first few turns, and he had a pair ofDark Confidant beating down on me. He drops a BBE into a 3rd Confidant, and brings me down to 7 life. He, however is at 9 himself from Dark Confidant triggers and land damage. I topdeck a Lightning Bolt, and chuckle to myself as his Bob's reveal Slaughter Games, Liliana of the Veil and a Land. Bolt puts away a game I had no right winning.
1-0
Round 2 vs White Weenie.
Game 1
I lose the roll and keep 3 lands, Search for Tomorrow, Pyroclasm, and 2 Remands. He quickly drops his hand and starts swinging. I hold off on Pyroclasm till turn 3 and 5 for 1 him. Remand slows him down and digs into more counters and removal, and I'm able to keep him off the board for a while until I eventually Peer into Scapeshift.
Game 2
I keep a hand with 3 land, Tribe Elder, Peer through Depths, Lightning Bolt and Scapeshift. He mulligans to 4 and just conceded. He told me he was fairly new to the game and asked to see why he kept not drawing lands. I checked his deck and found he was running 14 lands total. Still, a win is a win I suppose.
2-0
Round 3 vs Jund (Against my buddy)
Game 1
I lose the roll, mull to 5 and keep 4 lands and a Remand. He main deck Slaughter Games me and I just scooped.
Game 2
I keep a hand with 3 lands, Search for Tomorrow, Obstinate Baloth, Vendilion Clique, Telling Time. I ramp a bit, he drops Turn 2 Bob. I clique away his Slaughter Games, and see a Liliana. From there, Baloth holds down the fort (After killing Liliana) and Clique starts chipping away at his life total. He never draws into Lightning Bolts (The only removal he left in), and I never see Scapeshift, but eventually he dies to a Bob trigger.
Game 3
I keep a hand with 2 lands, 1 Tribe Elder, 1 Crytpic Command, 2 Obstinate Baloth and a Firespout. He IoK's away my Tribe Elder, and I never draw a third land. He beats me down with no real resistance. On the upside, my buddy went on to go 4-0.
2-1
Round 4 vs ???
The guy said he had to be up for work early and asked if I would just accept a draw, so I didn't get a round 4.
I didn't draw Clique enough times to really judge it yet, but I can say I didn't miss Snapcaster at all. I also had an easier time with starting hands without having him there to clog things up.
Telling Time is good. Much better than Serum Visions. I still think Peer Through Depths is the better card for us, but with my 4/3 split of them I rarely had issues finding Scapeshift or other answers.
Obstinate Baloth is a force against Jund. I knew it was good against Liliana, but I forgot that it just stonewalls their attacks, especially when your opponents goes removal light in the second game. I need to try him out against RDW/Burn decks or other fast aggro to see if he's enough to smooth those matchups out as well.
Im not sure if I understood what you just said to me, but 1xSlaughter Games - Scapeshift (discarding), 2nd Primeval Titan, 3rd Izzet Charm (discarding), 4th Negate (discarding). Well what I saw from this is that Prismatic Omen is really worth it to run. Wins games out of nowhere... just dropping lands and search for them, its pretty good.
Hahaha, no. I had misread it as he had 4 copies in his SB. Winning a game facing 4 of them cast, that's impressive as all get out. Well done.
I have the extractions in there because Graveyard decks exist and it's my favorite hate. It can be found by Peer Through Depths, it can be Snapcast back as well. It's great against Gifts decks, Dredgevine, and it can do work against Storm and Eggs. I will admit, I do side into it less than any other cards, and should perhaps rethink it.
Going back to the idea of the gifts ungiven white splash, how possible would it be to board in things like silence, aven mindcensor, rule of law or ghostly prison against various other combo matchups. Not to mention possibilities like timely reinforcements against burn or boros/uwr decks.
Just more ideas coming from an old u/w tron gifts player.
What do you guys think of Clutch of the undercity in scapeshift?
There was a deck featuring this card at PT RTR and i am wondering whether it could be good in the current meta as a way to fight jund's discard by having virtually 7/8 scapeshift in the deck.
Let's consider a classical deck list like the one that top8ed GP Toronto : http://www.mtgtop8.com/event?e=3938&d=223324
The way i see it we could make the changes :
-2 snapcaster -3 peer through depths - 1 cryptic command
+ 3 clutch +2 izzet charm +1 farseek
- 1 mountain -1 island
+1 swamp + 1 watery grave
Another important point is that clutch allows us to play some silver bullets in the SB such as slaughter games, creeping corrosin, sowing salt, mindbreak trap,...
Now that Bloodbraid Elf is banned, the world might be a bit safer for Prismatic Omen if Jund starts to decline. I'm still not sure this deck even needs to waste the card spots on Omen, but it's at least worth thinking about.
I feel like Infect isnt all that bad for Scapeshift. We already play 4 Izzet Charm and 2-3 Pyroclasm. If it does get out of control we just start playing Lightning Bolt, which isnt really a bad thing.

As for Lightning Bolt vsIzzet Charm. Personal preference I guess. Bolt is better against the matchups I want it for, and I keep wishing I had a 4th.

Bouiboui you were ahead of your time - check out the t8 scapeshift list from GP Bilbao, which adds a black splash for Clutch (http://www.wizards.com/Magic/Magazine/Article.aspx?x=mtg/daily/eventcoverage/gpbil13/welcome#1). I am going to try it out. Being able to use Slaughter Games against Jund (and the mirror, Twin, etc.) should be fun.
I/Many people predict more Infect. This will suck for us, so having Spellskite in the side is looking more and more like a good call.
