Elspeth "we must fight to protect order and justice!"
Tezzeret "No! he will break all my artifacts and stomp my head!"
Vol "powerful dragon must be brought to heel!"
Ajani "**** this Im outta *planeswalks to lorwyn* wow what hell is this place?"
Little lorwyn goblin "this be the place of bad art and Tribes!!!"
All other Alara planeswalkers "hey where did ajani go???"
No question about it, it definitely is braids, the caption accompanying the pic confirms it, something about a dementia summoner choosing the life of a sage over the life of dementia/insanity.
"If I do go to heaven, I'll smack god across the face and tell him to get me a grilled-cheeses sandwhich and then say 'Yea what now god!? Say some'in! I dare you!' "
Yeah, I'd say we're looking at a blue Braids. I wonder what she does? I'm guessing either card drawing or bounce, but hopefully something cooler than that.

It's annoying how they gave us art in the puzzle that they already posted somewhere else in the minisite. Also it is probably a type-o but I think they refer to mirri as "he."
Edit: "A cat warrior from the wilds of Efavra decides not to leave his home and brethren behind." Yup
Edit again: I'm dumb, they were talking about Jedit, I got confused because of the picture.
but look in the story section, shows the art of an old white card, i forgot its name i think it was like a 1W enchantment, maybe wrong.
also bottom page, pretty sure thats a new version of the weatherlight. i dont think weatherlight is in the orb so maybe the art is just on a card. but to me its def an 'alt reality' weatherlight.

This is referring to Jedit, not Mirri. He's the other cat art.

Actualy she looks kinda creepy to me. She looks young, but she has some old features. This is comming from my years of stage experience and doing old age makeup, but she has certain features, highlights and shading mostly, that help characterize a face as "old". Its hard to type out, but she doesn't look quite as young at second glance. I am so glad to see these alternate characters, though, and I am glad Braids is one of them.
Edit - Ok, I think the aging I see is because of the harsh lighting and shading on the left side of the picture. The sunken eye and cheek and the very pronounced bone structure. The right side looks much younger, if a bit pale. And the brush-strokes in the shading on the face and neck in the darkened spots add a bit of a very fine wrinle to her skin. Now I am probably just getting overly geeky about it, but it looks weird to me. Almost a quality that keeps her age from being easily guessed, but only if you look.
Edit 2.5 - Here eyes look old too. This is a realy cool picture. Has anyone read The Wheel of Time series? The describe the sorceresses in that series as having an agelessness to them. The look young at first, but then it gets hard to determine if you try. I never thought you could actualy make that effect in visual form, just narative. Its realy cool to see it in paint (or pixels at least.)

It's the Predator. It's like, weatherlight's enemy/rival ship. (I think it's Greven's ship, or Vhati's, or one of those guys, I didn't read the novels)
braids is definitely younger but a lot more overworked this time.

Click here to let Mark Rosewater know how stupid it is that they're going to call "In Play" the "Battlefield."
And copy this into your sig to spread the word.

It's actually Volrath's flagship. Vhati is Greven's little henchman and Greven has a metalic spine that Volrath controls, so if Greven tries anything funny Volrath can easily take care of him. Now on the other hand Greven can easily kill Vhati as shown in the "Diabolic Edict" art.
The predator was the skyship of Rath, which in the books is described as a vessel made for war in contrast to the Weatherlight which would be a scooner. The predator is purely offensive with connons and all (see Predator, Flagship) it was commanded by Greven Il-vec and greven's second in command was Vhati Il-Dal.
The original story behind Crovax/Selenia/Mirri is the following(as i can remeber): Selenia was Crovax's family Guardian angel, who dissapeared out of crovax's urborg mansion and soon after disaster stuck crovax's family as he was plagues by "demons" (known later to be phyrexians: Morinfen and Gallowbraid) When crovax goes on the weatherlight to rath he feels the calling of Selenia who they soon find out is working for Volrath. During the confrontation illustrated in the storyline, Mirri was the first to combat Selenia during her attack on the weatherlight, Selenia quickly stuck her down and was about to take her finishing blow when Crovax took arms and killed the angel, thus recieving the angels curse which turn him into a vampire(Death Stroke). Later he becomes a vampire and kills Mirri as can be seen on the card Slaughter. Left in rath he goes on to become evincar of rath, and lead the Rath part of thephyrexian invasion of Dominria.
OF TOPIC: this reminds me that i miss the fact not much of the story is reveealed in the card anymore which I greatly miss
hope this clears some people on what happened first time around.
anyways I love the new braids art. She looks great, very nice change from her initial crazy demtia wizard look to the arcane wizard. Very good transition made by the artists. I do wonder what her abilities will be this time around.
what I would like is that the stories for all of the alt. reality legends to be released. Id love to see what diferences this time around did Jedit's change cause, what blue braids did, or how did the fact that Crovax wasnt cursed and thus didnt become evincar of Rath, changing the whole layout of everything went on since Exodus to the end of the Apocalypse.
It definitely look like Braids is back in a slightly saner form.
