Man, that looks decent. Ferguson was always one of my favorite artists--particularly his stuff from Alliances, but yeah. Nice to see a clear picture of this. First time I've noticed the expansion symbol on its own little circle, too; I really like it, for some reason.

That artwork is amazing, better than that on the booster. Perhaps they are the same card, just the prerelease version has alternate art. Still don't like the frame much.

I like it! It's like the Elite MTG skins made by firepenguin.
Also, cool art, cool card, COOL!
MaRo will hate us all though. the prerelease card known before the previews AND the fact that it's prerelease?
The prerelease card is ALWAYS known before the prerelease, and even announced at Wizards.com <.<
Hmm, this legend is just a random guy who happens to hold the black blade ?, or is he Dakkon in mortal form ?

Quote from Caranthir »
Yawgmoth, the ruler of Phyrexia, Lord of the Wastes, Father of Machines, is DEAD. He's passed on. He is no more! He has ceased to be! He is expired and gone to meet his maker! He is a stiff! Bereft of life, he rests in peace! He kicked the bucket, He has shuffled off his (apparently)mortal coil, run down the curtain and joined the bleedin' choir invisibile!
But i find it kinda weird since his normal art doesn't look too RKF-ish to me(also the sword on the prerelease one looks a tad different), didn't they usually have the same artist do both arts(regular and prerelease)?
Alternate artists? DjinnIlluminatus from Guildpact had this going on - Michael Sutfin and Carl Critchlow
Wow awesome art by RKF as always, i'm really glad they brought him back.

Nope, bro. Just a quick check:
Lotus Bloom: Mark Zug (normal), Chris Rush (PR)
Djinn Illuminatus: Carl Critchlow and Michael Sutfin
Gleancrawler: Jeremy Jarvis and Dave Allsop
Kiyomaro: Kev Walker and Ittoku
On the other hand: Avatar of Discord has both arts from rk post, Allosaurus Rider and Oros both arts from Daren Bader.
It is not a rule, they just do it once for a time.

I know.
And we know about Oros before the prerelease.
But we didn't know he was the prerelease card.
Not only that, but usually we find out about the prerelease card only a week before the prerelease.
I thought it was a Duel Masters card when i first saw it, but any way i really like the grandeur mechanic, I'm not sure how good it is yet but definitely has potential.
Just a question. As it is worded now, can you play one Korlash and then discard another 2 copies for 4 swamps? Or discard a single copy for 2 swamps, bring it back from the grave for another pitch, or does it only work as a single pitch CIP?

It is not a CIP ability, it's a normal activated ability. You can use it as many times as you have cards named "Korlash, Heir to Blackblade" in hand.
Awesome card. Noticed the similarity in title, "Heir". Radha had "Heir" in her name as well. Are we to expect more "heirs" throughout FS or is it just one of those things where people look too deeply into?
I'm so not liking the new card frames at all. Doesn't feel like Magic in the least; more like Lot5R mixed with VS and Middle Earth.

Wow, good times. I'll definitely be heading to the FS pre-release. I like RFK's drawing way more.
Sidenote:
Is it interesting that wizards have found a way to make players want to collect 4 legends? I mean, there was always the incentive of consistency, but most players I know, like myself, would usually only bother to get 1 legend for each set (Like I have one Jaya, one Dralnu, one Teferi, etc etc). The Grandeur mechanic inherently makes you want to get 4, not just for consistency in case the legend can be built around (ala Blackblade), but because it seems like you should play 4 if you use it at all. Clever Wizards!
is that new layout gonna stay? or is it just for certain cards?
It is just for timeshifted cards, just like the new frames in PC were just for timeshifted cards. They will (probably) not inflict something so butt-ugly on us for long.
I was just about to post the same comment. This creature makes me want to use 4 of him and 4 tutors. Finally, black gets mana accel back (at least one that is more playable than that crappy Magus.)
I could see this happening...
first turn - Overgrown Tomb + Birds of Paradise or Llanowar Elves.
second turn - any land (Tomb, swamp, or Urborg, Tomb of Yawgmoth prefered) and either Infernal Tutor and reveal Korlash, or if you dont have Korlash, transmute a Dimir House Guard and get one anyways. Maybe cast another 1 cc thing like elves or birds.
3rd turn - any swamp land and Korlash. You will have enough land to regen him. And you cant chuck the second Korlash if you used the tutor.
to add insult to injury you could even cast a Hunting Wilds the following turn and get 2 more Tombs. (or forests if you have out Urborg.)
Dakkon's bastard little zombie is a nice little thug with black mana accel?

Heh, they're encouraging people to do the prerelease multiple times. I mean, nobody needs a playset of Oros, but EVERYONE wants a playset of Korlash. >_>
It's a good way to print legendary creatures for the prerelease, and still have them be playable.

I'm loving the prerelease art, it's just too bad I can't attend.
Making contraptions, wishing I could make them twice as efficiently.

Grandeur = great idea.
Besides, I can go for a 4-mana-cost regenerating Nightmare, especially if I can use its twins to fetch more Swamps (or dual-Swamps *evil grin*)
That's because it's Dakkon's kid. Look at his name.
I wonder which card is his mom...
