Each player receives one of the four Planechase Game Packs. The game pack contains a 60-card magic deck and a 10-card Plane deck.
Planechase Release events will use an open play format. Players will be placed into game groups of 3-5 players. When a game finishes, players can play again or be regrouped into another game with new players.
Each player will receive a Tazeem Promo plane card (while supplies last)
Since this is an open format event, please report each player who participates anytime during the day and not match records.

Any idea if this Tazeem plane card is an exclusive promo, or will in be included in one of the planar decks? Can you tell if this represents a trend of releasing further planes via WPN promos, or will we need to wait for annual/biannual Planechase expansions to accomodate the new planes and hotspots of the Multiverse?

I only know what's in the post here and that there will be a plane card given at at the Zendikar prerelease. I'm going to guess it's exlcusive to the event but will probably be "reprinted" in a future set if they continue to support this concept.
Also, I got this info on the 7th but didn't get a chance to post it till today. I just found it added to the known info thread so if a mod wants to kill this go ahead.

It's a promo, but I agree that it might be promo only until they might reprint it later. On the other hand, it's not a full fledged format, so there is a chance they might not reprint it at all (it already has a huge distribution).
Will there be a Planechase release event? Everywhere? Or is this a America only thing *I could bet -_-*
Official Planechase release date is Friday, September 4th. I'd say check with your LGS to see if they're doing a release event for it. Wizards IS supporting release events though.
Looking at the info in the compiled info thread, I kinda wonder what the big deal is about the release event OTHER than the promo card. $40 entry for one $20 precon and a single promo card would be way too much if the promo card is just a premium/alt art version of a plane in one of the precons, but people who can't make it to the release event would be understandably miffed at being unable to pick up an exclusive promo card thanks to it being worth at least $20 just because of the release event entry fee.

I don't think it's $40 everywhere. I asked my local TO, and he said that the cost of entry was to buy a Planechase deck. But YMMV. Possibly there will be prizes given out where the cost of entry is higher?

Well, its an English only product so I don't see how that would go over in non-english speaking countries.
I live in a non-English speaking country, and all the products so far has been printed in English. I don't really see why there should be a problem. Actually, the place that I generally visit will also be organizing this event.

Well thats good news then, I just didn't expect there would be enough English speaking (and reading) people to have a tourney. It helps when you can read the cards ;). And what's up with selling English product in a non-English country

I somehow feel offended by this post. I dont see why non English speaking countries cannot get English products? The place where I live, the players here only buy english cards, because Magic's origin is indeed English.
And I think your logic about selling english products in non-english country is quite shallow, some people use cards to their own favour, not because of language. Why else would you sometimes see Japanese or S-Chinese MTG cards sell for higher on ebay?

wotc selling English product to countries where English isn't the perdoment language is like how they sell Japanese and Spanish product in the US. Imo, doesn't seem that unusuall to me...

You don't really need to know a lot of English in order to play the card game. Most phrases and key words are repetitive enough to guess, and it is not very difficult to find someone who know English for complicated wordings and such.
Actually, I am more preferred to play Magic the Gathering in English. The game would sound totally ridiculous should it be translated into my own language. It is also nice to be able to use the cards in several other countries without much of a problem.
ps. There will be a Grand Prix here around the end of the month, so I guess that there are "enough" people.

Well said Angel I would also say that you dont have to be ''American'' to be able to read english. Its one of the most spoken language on Earth... My first language is french but i got bilingual by the age of 12... I also know chinese youngsters that can speak 3 languages almost perfectly by the age of 6 lol.

The $40 price is here in Australia. Thats about what it will cost us for one of the decks, so I'm sure elsewhere the cost will be around the cost of a deck too.

Is Wizards possibly going to be sending planechase cards out with rewards in the future? (they've put larger cards such as spellbreaker behemoth and lightning bolt previews in rewards envelopes). It could be a great addition to make up for the poor promo cards of late

I just received an email from Fedex, appearenly my WPN has been sent out today:
This shipment is scheduled to be sent on 08/11/2009.
Reference information includes:
Reference:gateway & Planechase
so that means I should be getting the M10 Gateway (Mind control and rise from the grave) tomorrow, if that does include these Planechase Promo in the same package, I will post some scans up tomorrow.
Does anyone know if there will be a choice of decks, or will we be getting a random deck out of the four?
Probably depends on your TO, and perhaps to a lesser extent on the event size. I can see TOs of smaller events being more flexible, and TOs of larger events deciding that they won't be able to cater to everyone's desires, so it'd be fairest to just randomly assign packs a la open dueling. Again, YMMV.
