I love the challenge this card carries. Hopefully Baneslayer won't get reprinted in M11 and this guy can have a chance to knock around White/ Blue mages in T2.
In an eight player game, is anything good? Don't you just sit there countering combos until someone genesis waves for 42 after all the blue players tap out fighting over a bribery?
The thing I like about this is that I can see it in any strategy playing black. You could even run it in a UB variant (assuming blue gets good again) and Into the Roil it after it deals the fatal blow.
Uhhhh, i dont really know what to say. Looks okay in mono black....just because its a four drop:)! Maybe use it with Vampire Aristocrat to sac it after you beat em' down.
101.1. Whenever a card's text directly contradicts these rules, the card takes precedence. The card overrides only the rule that applies to that specific situation. The only exception is that a player can concede the game at any time (see rule 104.3a).
I'm pretty sure concede = lose no matter what the gamestate ... just like conceding when you control Platinum Angel. If the wife's calling, the wife's calling.
Oh man... put this in play while controlling Platinum Angel for some fun.
"You can't win the game, and you can't lose the game. Your opponents can't lose the game, and your opponents can't win the game."
Not sure if that's how it works. I believe it falls under the timestamp rule.
If you play Platinum after, you could win if they are say at 0. I think. This definitely needs a ruling, they seem to be contradictory but aren't.
101.2. When a rule or effect says something can happen and another effect says it can't, the "can't" effect wins.
If you had both in play at the same time, nothing would happen, ever.
Which means neither of you can win, and neither of you can lose. As in, you both could be at -100 with no cards in the library and the game would still go on.
I....have to say this is definitely and interesting demon. My R/B aggro deck is definitely going to play this sucker and of course right when their at 0 burning it off or terminating it will be great. Unfortunately against a smart player their not letting this thing stick around as a 6/6 flying, trampler for 4.
I would think they would both apply. Admittedly, my knowledge of timestamps is limited. But I would think you have two seperate effects - just because you can't lose the game doesn't mean you also can't win the game...
This card is terrible. If it wasn't a demon then maybe it would be okay even with the reverse Plat Angel effect. But since it is a demon, Baneslayer Angel stops all day long.
Thanks to DarkNightCavalier
No, they are going to kill it immediately just like every other big beater with no protection

A wise man talks when he has something to say. A fool talks because he has to say something.
Looking for a card alterer that takes commissions specifically on a blank playmat. PM me please.
And people are going to mis use it just like they misuse baneslayer.
This thing pretty much only works in midrange. Just like baneslayer.
It is not a control finisher, it is not a rush down beater, it is not worth accelerating into. It is a midrange beater.

In reference to XXWB Mythic Sorcery - Return X creatures from among any graveyards in to play under your control.

There was once [The Pack], but no more.
Aren't we talking about all "can't" effects?

Elder Dragon Highlander - Rules
EDH: Rhys the Redeemed
But seriously this card hardly has a drawback. Black already has so many playable sacrifice effects from Innocent Blood to Gatekeeper of Malakir, Diabolic Edict to Smallpox. What a great card.
