I'm praying this card/these cards do not become competitive in T2...or anything else for that matter...
Although that is inevitable as I already see some cheese combo coming along *cough Hypergenesis *cough* I just hope Standard doesn't turn into Pokemon with huge energy costed insane power blast your face for 1480925480 damage ibasicallywinandyoucantdoantyhing about it the moment you play a card. Pokemon and Yugioh revolve more around dropping your big dude and more or less winning, with little to no strategy required to get there.
What makes Magic such an amazing game is the critical thinking skills required to reach that point, to stay alive long enough to drop your Iona, the critical thinking to execute your strategy, to outhink your opponent and play off of his cards as opposed to playing "whos deck draws big dude first".
Maybe it's just me but I always found it so..so..GOOD when a player wins with the synergy of his cards that are not-so effective alone. Not when playing one creature can independently win you the game regardless of if you're at 1 life and your opponent at 20.
Level-up...really? More like evolve?? ala pokemon?? I'm honestly and truly BAFFLED when I discovered Wizards printed an ability with that name. It seems so un Magic the Gathering like and I am incredibly disappointed. Planeswalkers were innovative and cool and were used sparingly, as we see under 6 a set. Yet, it seems as if this leveler will be on a larger number of cards, as they are creatures- not an entirely new permanent type.
Magic is amazing in that the things that can be done by simple cards, by simple I mean non..non-looking like what that leveler thing is. Just a pic, mana cost, p/t and text!
Take your monoblack deck, then set aside 14 swamps. Add 4 Creeping Tar Pits, 4 Darkslick Shores, 4 Drowned Catacombs, and 2 Jwar isle Refuge and add 4 Jace, the Mindsculptors. Your monoblack deck is instantly better. Better yet, drop those refuges, throw in some islands and some mana leaks, and lo and behold, you're now playing a real deck. Congratulations. Welcome to the world of competitive M:TG.
If I ever see someone Gather Specimens this guy I'll laugh for a week.
I'm more concerned about the Eldrazi after Alara block rotates out. Most of the "one-size-fits-all" good removal is from there, whereas Zendikar seemed to focus more on -X/-X or restrictive removal.
Emrakul is the most ridiculous card I've ever seen. It reminds me of when new players play create-a-card and try to cram everything in the universe on one card. That's not necesarily bad but still. It's a crazy card.
I think the Timewalk effect as a super-haste is pretty cool though.
What do you think the odds are that Wizards reprints Urzatron and Tooth and Nail or new equivalents in the new Mirrodin block?
Frankly I can't see any difference between Shivan Dragon, Akroma, Progenitus and now the Eldrazi.
If Hypergenesis resolves you lose the game. If Polymorph does its thing you lose the game. If the reanimator goes off you lose the game.
So combo decks win when they combo off? wow, news to me.
Wasn't the whole point to... you know... stop them comboing off? who cares what fatty they kill you with, you're dead anyway.
The problem is we now have 2 and a half of those cards (the uncommon being half) IWIN cards. It just looks they're becoming less of combo cards and more *shiver* aggro cards? Due to the number we've seen printed.
and that is if you are lucky kiddies on what you get if you can manage to hard cast it.
Honestly it is a pain in the rear to hard cast, you would first need to successfully cast spells that keep you safe from harm while you are trying to bring out this single giant creature, I respect that it is truly strong, and equipping it with a Fireshrieker is GG really, but it's just way to expensive.

Well we should expect the three Titans at mythic, then they said Brood in every color, as well as lesser Eldrazi that were colorless. I think being the set is about them, we'll AT LEAST have 10-15 of them not counting brood critters and Eldrazi tribal spells.

Yes as long as you don't:
A) Go second
B) Let the opponent kill you with a Goblin Grenade
@ Cordio: If you are playing B/G for instance you use that to filter mana (Although cruddy at best), otherwise how am I playing a meditate or seething song?
So, Emeria-Drazi (a.k.a Tedin-Drazi) is a big fat 15/15 which, technically, can attack the turn it comes into play while giving your other creatures 'double strike', and is immune to Blaze etc. Too bad it's only immune to spells, but since it's already uncounterable, hits bloody damn hard (only token decks can survive an Annihilate that high), I guess hat doesn't really matter.
Fun to see her as prerelease though. This is just the card to drag players to the events.
My GOD, Emarkul is the awesomeness. Unless your opponent has out an flying Artifact creature or a flying Eldrazi, they are screwed. About said if this sticks, but most spells minus the possible colorless Terror variant they might come up with. PtE, No. Doom Blade, Nope. Banefire for 15, Not even close. Oath and Tooth decks just got a new friend. Same for Urza Tron builds. Yeah, I know that the decks like Tooth and Oath won't get the extra turn, but what can your opponent do with about a 15 that kills off 6 permanents when it attacks. Not much I say.
After looking at it for a while and calming down from the original sight of the beast (thing), it's just another Progenitus. How often do you win once your opponent drops Prog?
What I fear more after looking at it for a while and calming down from the original sight of it is level-up, I still do not see how Wizards made this.
Yes as long as you don't:
A) Go second
B) Let the opponent kill you with a Goblin Grenade
If you're playing Spirit Guides/Moxens/etc you can win turn 1-2 consistently, even going second. Seeing as Emrakul is uncounterable, all you have to do is find a way to make Channel uncounterable or simply have a Force of your own... That being said, Dragon is far more consistent and has just as much surprise value when it's not seeing play and people aren't boarding for it.
Oh, come on. This is just too much. I can see an unbeatable deck running this, along with many counter spells, removals... Too much. :S Zendikar is great set, that will be ruined by this Eldrazi creature madness...

Lol, sorry, I was trying to figure it accelerating the Eldrazi somehow
Wait a minute, I just remembered something: Emeria-Drazi is essentialy unkillable since it is immune to Hideous End and the like! Unlike Kozilek, who still dies to such direct removals.

Incase you didn't notice, he (or she?) he pro colors. So unblockable unless u have some colorless cards laying around
If you have 6 other permanents to sacrifice. Even then, you know, you're down 6 permanents.
Protection from colored spells. Nighthawk is only a spell when it's on the stack, when it's on the battlefield it is considered a permanent.
Well, you're really down 7 permanents since 2/3 creatures don't like taking 15 damage.

Higher than they should ever be
The create a card comparison was a good one.

HOLY ☺☺☺☺!
This pretty epic for a card. Can you say end game boss? Sadly I can't enchant it.
Lets see:
Turn 1: Swamp, Dark Ritual, Urza's Incubator (Eldrazi)
Turn 2: Eye of Ugin
Turn 3: Swamp, Dark Ritual, Urza's Incubator (Eldrazi)
Turn 4: Forest, Urza's Incubator (Eldrazi)
Turn 5: Forest, Mana Cylix
Turn 6: Meditate
Turn 8: Seething Song, THIS NEW EPIC ELDRAZI
and that is if you are lucky kiddies on what you get if you can manage to hard cast it.

Channel=>Emrakul = win? Turn 2?
