I once farted during the final match for prizes at an FNM. It was a tense moment, everything was quiet, control vs control, I was about to mana leak, thought about it.. and farted. Then mana leaked.
Honestly, Commander just sounds better then EDH anyway.
I can't believe there's still QQ'ing going on about the name change.
i like the name commander better as well since the elder dragons but bolas pretty much are outclassed by shards commanders Arcades Sabboth why would you choose him over Angus Mackenzie , Phelddagrif, Rafiq of the Many or Ragnar
same with other besides Palladia-Mors and the only reason i would pick him over some of the other naya color legends is his trample can get you there with commander damage
I still bury creatures, call standard type 2, refer to ETB as CITP and exile as RFG. And, the ultimate sign of an old school player who refuses to change, I play with my lands in front.
I will call Commander EDH.
On a final note, I miss Banding. that was a fun ability. I enjoyed playing my banding WW decks.

I like banding too...combat tricks are fun.
And the ultimate sign of old player is refusing to "tap" your lands, but instead using counters to show they are tapped. Or playing a deck with 23 grizzly bears and 18 wall of spears...
I call it EDH only because it's shorter. ^^
But Commander suits the format better. Elder Dragons stopped being played since like the tenth game of this format's history.
lol?
Both EDH and Commander are three syllables. How is one "shorter" to say than the other?
Say them to yourself. EDH has shorter syllables, so it's faster to say. Commander is longer.
While that may be microscopically true, the amount of time it took you to write this post more than made up for the gross time you've saved in your life by saying "EDH" instead of "Commander."
There's still no need for the name change except to commercialize it. Ugh.
What does commercializing it actually change, though? The rules board is exactly the same, gameplay is unchanged... the only difference is that now Wizards can officially provide products explicitly for the format. Which, if you don't like, you don't have to make use of.
How does this actually effect anyone's game experience in a negative way? It should only ever be positive, or neutral.
My brother and I have been playing almost since the start of the game and we always use the term "Bury." It's so much easier than having to say "Destroy target creature. It can't be regenerated."
But we also call "R:This creature gets +1/+0 until end of turn" Firebreathing. It's just easier.

Jumps prices up and brings netdeckers into the format....the worst.
Jumps prices up and brings netdeckers into the format....the worst.
I also think saying "bury" is sweet.
It also leads to more and more shop-owners wanting to lure in more players with prize-based tournaments. Nothing kills an EDH tournament faster than giving the "winning" players a handful of packs. Suddenly the oldest players begin scouring their collections for expensive super-cards like Moats and Mana Drains as people begin to pack their deck with either unlimited board-sweepers, counter-magic and/or tutors and the format degenerates into combo- and control-heaven. The idea of turning a creature sideways is reserved only for after you've locked your opponent out, because your swinging with an eldrazi or because your swinging with your 7+ power commander after locking your opponent out of doing anything else. Suddenly there's only 8 viable generals, decks reliant on creatures or their commanders become useless against an onslaught of unlimited removal and games become 1-on-1 slug-fests because collusion became too much of an issue when the Pheldigriff player offered to split prizes with the Zur player.
Multiplayer gets even stupider when player's get competitive as suddenly 4 players means 4 Oblivion Rings, 4 Nev Disks and, in all likely-hood, 20 "remove all creature" spells per deck. Unless, of course, the meta has already devolved into pure combo/control.
Note: I don't consider commander-aggro a true aggro strategy as there's no room for player interaction during combat (beyond "remove target creature"). Its always just "get a 7+ power general and try to swing 3 times before my opponent goes infinite". Or, in the case of general's like Volrath or Skittlez, its "try to kill in a single swing". The 21 damage general rule didn't give player's a necessary auto-win condition. It just highlighted the fact that aggro-strategies beyond "swing with my hasty general" unviable.
Again, my above rant only applies to groups that have "lost the Magic" (i.e. "winning is the most important goal of the game!").
None of the people in my LGS say Commander, we play every Tuesday. I think a couple people tried to go with it, but it just quickly got forgotten.
I can understand Wizard's reasoning behind changing the name in order to sell product, and perhaps make it a sanctioned format. But just because a company comes out with a new brand, doesn't mean I'm going to start calling it that. I also wouldn't knock others FOR calling it Commander. I play other poker card games which have multiple names and don't think twice about it.
I cannot grasp why any terminology used here is really that big a deal. When I cast doom blade I just say "I kill your dude." I don't think that's anywhere in the rule book. As long as we all know whats going on who cares?
I should use bury tho, it has a nice ring to it.

Heh. Don't worry man you aren't alone.
Meh. I doubt anyone would care if someone decided to keep calling Standard "Type 2" either. The name really isn't important at all.

Most of the players at my local store still call it Type 2, actually. They get pissed when I call it Standard.

Not only do I bury creatures, but they suffer damage as well.
I will call Commander EDH.

If you hate the deck, I'm probably playing it!

I have not met anyone who uses the term "bury" anymore. But I do find the term flavorful.

I mean the only viable option besides commander was "Elder Dragon <Censored>" and that would be just as lame.
