The walkers are not weak, sorins abilities are all relevant. A 4 point swing event turn is pretty big. It's just getting to 6 mana for him that's the problem. And tutoring twice and fogging for a turn is pretty nice for 5 mana.
No they are not garruk jace or Gideon, but just because the pros don't use them doesn't make cards bad. I'm never unhappy to resolve a liliana.
Oi very... I didnt say Bad.... I said that they were not very strong. I play with both Vess and Markov. I like them.
But they are not competitive. They are great for casual however, which is mostly what I play.
Just saying it would be nice if Black got some love like the other colors. (green needs some love too... )
I keep hearing all these Gideon comparisons... Triple H, Wolverine, etc. Come on, guys, use your heads. Just look at that mug! Look at that stubble! Look at that sneer. I look at that guy and I see one man.
On a related note, there aren't nearly enough pictures of Dennis Quaid from Dragonheart available on the net. This is unacceptable.

Cool, I like Gideon in the core set. After almost a year, I'm finally starting to appreciate what he does.
Not sure about Sorin, though. Seems like he's a little expensive. I don't think I've ever played with him, but I can't think of any horror stories from playing against him, unlike other planeswalkers previously mentioned. One time my opponent even ultimated with him (in a draft game), and I think the worst damage he did was to tap all of my lands. Granted, I think it was also the same match where he neglected to +2 me to death when I was at 1 or 2 life, so ... yeah. I do wonder, though, what his inclusion in the core set means for the vampire tribe moving forward.
Jace 2.0 would be fantastic in M12. More time to play with my $$$$ in Standard. If not, though, I'll still have fun with him in my casual decks.
Chandra 2.0 would be disappointing, and I think everyone would agree with me. Chandra 3.0 maybe?
Also, maybe Garruk 2.0?

That doesn't seem like Gideon... Where's the Sural? And his hair seems too light.
If they decided to give Gideon brown hair now. You couldn't really make it out on the rise card, so I didn't complain. But purifying fire pretty explicitly stated he had black hair.
I also don't like the Gideon art in general. It doesn't seem as calm and collected as Gideon was portrayed. Throughout the novel it mentions Gideon's emotionless-ness. That can't just be writers preference.

Check out the thread for my cube if you have the time, and tell me how terrible it is.
Generals meant to be drafted first in a single pack of 6 cards.
And here is the actual cube, meant to be drafted in 4 regular sized packs. (60 card decks)
I do, yes, and I think we'll see a Karn walker in New Phyrexia (they win, btw). Again, I trust my source. I've also heard a rumor about a new black "kill walker" card; I don't know if it's a la Hexmage or if it legit kills/destroys/whatever walkers, whether it's a creature or not, etc.
I honestly don't know about Sorin or Gideon, though. That picture was a surprise to me as much as anyone. I love Gideon 1.0 and I like him flavor-wise. I would've loved Elspeth (1.0, 2.0 or something new) in a core set but oh well. I really don't see teh original Gideon making it into a core set, though, just like I don't think Nissa (needs another card printed in the same set), Sarkhan 2.0 (no ultimate), Jace 2.0 (four abilities and, um, probably a bit strong), Chandra Ablaze (bad) or Nicol Bolas (where do I begin?) will end up in core sets.
This is complete speculation but, if core set walkers should exemplify what its color can do (as I believe they should), Gideon could possibly do . . .

Come to think of it, Gideon in that picture is the only walker with normal eyes. Poor guy looks so... mundane

please, dont say youve got "a source" that tells you about cards coming up. ive heard it everywhere, and 99.8% of the time its bullcrap. so dont go spreading rumors around, especially if theyre not backed up. im pretty sure there's another thread for that.
Also, i was thinking this was just for the new Duels of the Planeswalkers video game, but it looks like the game is tying in with the Core Set. http://www.gamespot.com/events/paxeast2011/video.html?sid=6303529
now, printing gideon will make me endlessly happy. especially cause he'll probably drop to around $15-20. and i do need a coupla him.

I'm going to be pissed if my 4 Jace TMS lose their value due to reprint....it will be bane slayer all over again.
you do know they would've rotated out 3 months later anyway lol. Golden rule of T2 magic cards, if you don't want them to lose their value, sell them all now.

jace price will be cut in half either due to him being reprinted, or due to him rotating out of standard. either way, prices will crumble. i dont see him going below the 40-50 dollar range regardless.
I'm going on record right now and stating that before the end of 2012 we will see foil dual lands in booster packs (The real, Alpha dual lands). You can quote me on that.
I want to see some really cool, odd walkers. The top races I want to see as walkers are Treefolk, Goblin, Rat, Sphinx, and Zombie.
Rat planeswalker? Nezumi Ninja Planeswalker please!
I would really like a Sphinx planeswalker too. Thinking about it, the only mono-blue Planeswalkers are both human males. I know, Tezzeret has his metal arm and etherium stuff, but he's still human as far as I know. I'd also like a Merfolk planeswalker! They brought Merfolk back, now it's time to give them a Planeswalker too!
A Treefolk planeswalker would be the coolest thing that could happen in Magic, lol.

Ever notice how the most prevalent creatures in MTG are also the creatures with Planeswalkers? We now have an excuse to ask for a Squirrel Planeswalker.:D
Don't deny it. In our blasphemous hearts, we desire the Planeswalker "Squirrelthulhu."
He can do battle with the Eldrazi for the title of MTG's most terrifying cosmic horror.:D

Black does need a 4cmc walker, but note that black is such an easy color to break and I'm sure they are scared of that.
