i want to use this im my Rhys token deck.... but i cant. id hate to have it sent at me still though.... except if i have my "make everything 200+/200+ for about 5 mana" combo working in time. then its a flail
EtW Storm comes to mind. Yeah, it's a pretty decent card in that spot.
Could be decent against Affnity too.
Except that deck never cared about casting Dragonstorm. It wasn't in the deck to actually be cast, but because it is a red spell. It would be another option though and since Dragonstorm went up to a silly price since the PT took place, it would be a good replacement for ppl that don't want to fork out that much on 4 Dragonstorm.
More to the point, the infect deck that had the Dragonstorms in it was mono blue infect. It had no actual way of casting the Dragonstorm. What it had were Blazing shoals and 5 ways of killing you in one turn with them....make that actually 6--4 Dragonstorm, Progenitus, Summoner's Pact(to search for Progenitus).
Emrakul has protection from this thing anyway, so the only thing this doesn't kill on toughness alone (which itself has fixed toughness) is the Wurm.
Anyway, just play Phyrexian Crusader, then stick Sword of War and Peace on another creature you control, play this (your own creatures helping to reduce the cost) and you're up. Quite good against Grave Titan as well. Other than that it's probably going to cost too much mana most of the time.
except this doesnt target so protection doesnt to anything for Emmy

No, it didn't. The Scourge version is still 3 bucks or less.
This is an absolute commander gem. red really needed a reliable wrath and while it has some good options I think this might become the goto for multiplayer use.

Wrong, protection protects from DAMAGE, enchanting, blocking and targeting.

As much as I'm against the OTT view that this card is going to solo tournaments, cure cancer and make Susan Boyle attractive I'm not really a fan of the opposing camp who think it slaughters puppies and sired Justin Bieber.
I can see this being an okay sideboard card in a metagame with lots of creatures. With 4-5 creatures in play we're basically talking about a red wrath.
Tanion, no. It doesn't get "hit." All damage is prevented since Emrakul can't be dealt damage by colored spells.
Also, this really is not THAT good in Limited. When does your opponent have 8 creatures out? When you're losing like a fool. First pick Pyroclasm again over this any day.
except this doesnt target so protection doesnt to anything for Emmy
Protection from "X" does four things:
1) Cannot be targeted by "X".
2) Cannot be blocked by a creature with property "X".
3) Cannot be dealt damage by "X".
4) Cannot be enchanted by an enchantment with property "X".
This is why a creature with Protection from White gets killed by Wrath of God. None of these four clauses prevent it from happening. However, in this case, clause 3) would prevent Emrakul from getting hurt, even though the spell gets past clause 1).
Overall, I think I agree with the assessment that the card will go the way of Chain Reaction. I might prefer it in EDH over that card, though, since this is still usable if you want to blow up a few big creatures and can shelf out the mana (which you usually can).
This card is not bad, not bad at all. Sure it's worse than Chain Reaction, but considering all the mass of tokens we're seeing so far in this set I'm sure this card will see lots of play.
anti elf, token, whatever deck that overextends. it will be just as cheap as any wrath like red spell, maybe even cheaper, and guarantee that they die with 13 damage.
Wow this set is not gonna have very many playable cards outside of EDH. That's what happens when you scale down the power level.
Flawless logic.
The chances of this getting cast for one mana are pretty slim as far as limited and standard go, but it's still a pretty nice Wrath effect in my book.

Some of you may have been in shock since we invaded Canada and Mexico, but fear not, it was for a good cause. Now that we conrol North America, we produce an extra 5 armies a turn.^_^

Protection helps against damage. It still is hit but doesn't get dealt any damage.

Heck, I would first pick this in a draft.
I could've used this effect in potentially zero of the games of Magic the Gathering I have ever played.
