That is some disturbing art. I'll definitely want a few copies, but I think I while still flinch a little every time I draw one and have to look at it. *shudder*
I adore the art on the new fling! That devil's head went flying! HAH!

I think Thought Scour's flavor text is a reference to Amnesia, the Dark Descent. The mention of Vitae, the flavor of losing memories (albeit in a different way than in Amnesia). Interesting, and nice shout out if that was intentional.
It's not. Viscus vitae is the name of the vital fluid used to create skaabs. According to the Planeswalker's Guide to Innistrad, viscus vitae "is created by mixing a large quantity of lamp oil with the slightest pinch of angel blood."
The name of the substance might be an unintentional reference (although it's a very generic name - "viscus vitae" is Latin for "flesh of life" or "entry of life"), but the flavor text certainly isn't.
The problem with defining this format by what is "fun" is that everyone seems to define fun as what they don't lose to. If you keep losing to easily answered cards, that means you should improve your deck. If you don't want to improve your deck, then you should come to peace with the idea that you are going to lose because you chose to not interact with better strategies.
The art is something right out of Phyrexia. A little shocked we're seeing something so very blatant for shock horror. The creeping death I get... the sadistic abuse, I think we had enough of last year.
If there's one card I make my own alt art for, it will be Thought Scour. I'm not squeamish about it at all, it's just not pleasant to draw and look at.
Hmm not quite what I want, but one will have him cramming some food in his mouth... maybe an ice cream cone.
i could care less about fling but thought scour is amazing...so much enabling at such a convenient cost...and it works so much better than visions btw...you'd have to mill a crapton to get visions to pay off...this gets the ball rolling on turn one and straight up replaces dream twist in any self mill strategy...heck even mill may get up there with this plus visions although alot less likely with how ineffective wrath is right now but still its all ideas till we get the cards
Thought Scour, Mental Note that can mill your opponent. I won't ever mill anyone but myself but it's a neat card regardless. If there is a self-mill deck, I'd hope to Thought Scour someone to death in the mirror match! Haha! Unfortunately we haven't seen enough creatures to make the Splinterfright self-mill creature deck but I can deal with this. I mean, it's a U cantrip with benefits, what could be wrong with that?
Fling is a bit boring for constructed but should be a blast in limited with Morbid, Undying and other death triggers. Although someone mentioned pairing this with Ghoultree, which I can see.. perhaps a big Splinterfright too? GR Faithless Grave Beatdown?
Don't know if anyone noticed but the deck that just won the last GP seems like it's a perfect fit for Thought Scour... Runechanter's Pike, Snapcaster, Delver, Ponder...
I like that it works with AND against Delver of Secrets.
With your Delver, during your upkeep you get to look at the top card of your deck. If its not something you want to draw, play Thought Scour and mill it away.
It's even better AGAINST their Delver...
- If they Ponder to set up Delver flip next turn, use Scour to mess that up
- If they reveal a good card to Delver, Scour it away
- If they have multiple Delvers, after the first one flips, Scour away the top card before the 2nd flip trigger resolves.
Its also nice as a cheap instant speed card draw to use with Snapcaster when you need to flash him in as a blocker and dont have anything good to target.
A nice role player cantrip, it'll see play in Block for sure, probably in Standard, and maybe even in older formats as sideboard against Vampiric Tutor, Enlightened Tutor and the like...
I once farted during the final match for prizes at an FNM. It was a tense moment, everything was quiet, control vs control, I was about to mana leak, thought about it.. and farted. Then mana leaked.
I don't really get why they reprint cards that are already in standard?
2 potential reasons:
They want to keep it legal after the current version rotates, without having to put it in the next block/core set, OR they want it in there for limited.

No offense or anything but I don't think you know what strictly worse means.
I will probably like to run 3 of these and 2 visions and reduce the count on think twice by 1-2 for competitive play.
I don't normally play red but fling is always fun.

Love it man (or Woo-man). Love it.
Scour REALLY should have had Flashback for a cost of 1BB or 2BB though
Fling reprint... they've been doing that a lot lately...

You don't sideboard for tutors.
From a Standard perspective, it doesn't do enough to be worth a deck slot, IMO.
Kemba | Linvala | Talrand | Geth | Krenko | Zada | Patron of the Orochi | Medomai | Athreos | Gisela | Trostani | Nin | Silumgar | Kaervek | Jarad | Xenagos | Sydri | Narset | Roon | Zurgo | Ghave | Marath | Uril | Tasigur | Animar | Riku | Riku | Sek'Kuar | Cromat
More like the best ways to win with Burning VENGEANCE! Drawing a card and milling a few is pretty much you want to do with that deck.
