Your argument applies to all EDH decks though Spicay. This format is eternal and it includes plenty of mana fixing that allows you to reliably run 5 color so why run 4, why run 3, why run 2?
There is some sacrifice of consistency to run more colors though and 4 is easier than 5. People are crazy about their generals and many like to make as many combinations as they can so 4 color legends would be extremely popular. I already know multiple people that have nephilim decks since most players (in my experience) allow them as generals. Dune-Brood Nephilim has a pretty awesome ability that is different enough from a 5 color general to make a fun deck.
Call me crazy, but could we STOP discussing Commander in the Planechase thread?
As far as the decks go, I just hope they aren't loaded with things that people want more than the product. I just hate it when people buy them just so they can cannibalize the decks inside for a few key cards. Just a peeve of mine.
You have a point but wotc are the ones responsible since one of the first spoiled cards is obviously a card designed specifically for edh. I just hope they don't make lower powered planes in this set since some were too swing-y last time. The one that puts the top card of your deck into play before the game wins is a particularly dumb example.
But why care about other people's reasons for buying the precon?
I would bet money that the next commander precons will not be wedge colored. I don't think they would do the same thing twice in a row, especially if these planechase decks are wedge colored.
I would guess we'll see shards 3 color or 2 color. Wotc will probably try and print 4 color legends too at some point since those would have a lot of obvious appeal.
Other than the fact that they don't exist yet, what IS the appeal of a four color legend?
I mean, can you tell me why each Nephilim belongs to the four colors it does and not the fifth? At 4 colors you've pretty well lost the flavor of the colors, I think.

Well if they wanted to be really boring about it:
B- Fear (not intimidate on a 4 color creature) -Combat damage to player exiles a card from their library
U- FLying -Combat damage to player draw a card
G- Trample- Combat damage to player puts that many 1/1 squirrels into play (or if that is OP then a 3/3 beast)
R- Haste- Combat damage to player you may have it deal that much damage to a creature (Or destroy target artifact.)
W- Vigilance- Combat damage to player Destroy target enchantment or gain X life
Simple. Also lame, but the point of a 4 color is to do all but ONE thing or something that can't be done in any 1 2 or 3 colors.

Well, I always thought of it as not so much that they're distinctly GRUB or whatever. But that they're ostensibly NOT-W. I mean, there's some interesting design space that could be visited. Similar to how Animar is RUG and has Pro W and Pro B, it would be interesting to see some kind of specific antithesis of Red to be fleshed out, for example.

Hey dont even.Fear is gone for makeing new cards. It would be deathtouch and you know it.
Which at this point anything can be done with 3 colors.Since they've been trying to keep colors from haveing an exclusive thing as long as it could fit in another color. The only thing they have yet to do is give white taxable counter spells.

Actually, we are allowed to discuss commander here because it was included within the context of the new Planechase release update. So Commander should be fair game to discuss, too.
And @Spicay,
They wouldn't make 4-5 new 5 color Commander decks.
4 color Commander decks would make more sense. Maybe not more than 3 color decks, but definitely more than five. Everything that the Devil's Advocate had said in his post had made complete sense, and I think you're just trying to be argumentative. End of argument.

Deathtouch and Trample don't mix well...
I think 4-colour legends will probably get slotted in in PCH2, since you can't really put a 4-colour legend in a 3-colour Commander deck...

@Polendino-Actually they mix too well. And what makes you think wizards is going to limit themselves to 3 color generals next time the do commander decks? They could easily do a 4color deck, two 3color decks and a 2color deck for the next release.

Someone may have already asked this question, but if WotC is releasing a second Planechase product, is it likely that they shall release a second Archenemy product? I am extremely fond of Archenemy, so any new schemes would be very awesome, in my mind.

Archenemy adds an extra level of crazy in commander with planechase if each player has a scheme deck. The others usually can't stop my sharuum deck when it combos out but schemes have changed that.

I remember Aaron Forsythe saying on twitter that Archenemy was much less popular than Planechase and Commander. So, I don't think we'll see it again.
How is that possible? I myself enjoy Archenemy far more than either Planechase or Elder Dragon Highlander (I still prefer to use that name), because I enjoy being the archenemy and laughing diabolically while executing my schemes. Surely, there are other players who enjoy being a supervillain, as well?

god i hope the new commander stuff isn't 4 color generals, and is instead more tricolor and bicolor legends, that are a little more 'build around me' oriented. really hoping planechase 2 has at least one enemy wedge legend per deck. there really aren't enough enemy color paired legends. they need to fill out the enemy pairings before worrying about 4 colors. besides, once you get up to 4 colors it gets really boring. it essentially becomes 'whatever just shove everything good in me'
all of that said, i love planechase and can't wait for this new set. hoping for some of the higher priced more recent edh staples to get reprinted here too. stuff like woodfall primus, consecrated sphinx, primeval titan. probably won't happen though.

Being that one of the decks is named Night of the Ninja, its not going to happen.Theirs nothing ninja-ish about white, red or green. That was the whole reason they put them only in blue & black. If we even get a legend for that deck its going to be blue/black.

I could see a U/G or B/U/G ninja happening. Maybe both. But I hope you're right and we only see them in U/B.
Most importantly, we're getting new ninja-related Magic product, and for that, I rejoice. Yay.
Disagree that there will be a cycle of wedge legends or lands and such. There are only four decks, not a very good way to do a cycle of five. That and the original PCH had no pattern. The artifact deck was five color, I'd like them to keep the decks varied.
I think it's pretty good bet that the ninja deck will be UB.

Yes yes and yes. Exactly what I was thinking. There will be no systematic build, they'll all be different, unlike commander.

In this context, "Nephilim" is just shorthand for "four colour".

Some people like Archenemy but edh has been becoming an extremely popular format and the Commander precons sold like crazy and were very successful.
