Hey, can't blame the girl for having goals. Garruk wants a new gigantic trophy head to mount on his wall, and Lili just likes planeshopping and revenge like some sort of serial slasher movie character.
No, but I do think I can blame everyone seeing every last legendary demon and thinking they had something to do with Liliana.
Malfegor, Rakdos, the list keeps going. I hate that everyone always grasps at straws.
If the demon is going to have something to do with Liliana, that's what they'll lead with, not hold it back for a surprise.
What I can't work out is that if you knew this, why did you think Alara was going to be the core set plane?
Further, there IS no core set plane. It takes place across multiple planes, that's why it's a core set and not an expansion. I would link to the official statement towards that, but the search function has been useless in helping me find the post.
I'm sorry, maybe I'm reading your post wrong, but I don't see what you're disagreeing with?
I've always presumed that, outside of typical Dominaria references, all "new" cards in Core Sets were from a singular specific plane. I was merely suggesting that any new cards in M13 that specifically reference locations could theoretically all reference Alara. I admit, maybe I'm jumping the gun a bit, but it's not totally unreasonable.
Also, I never said anything about a singular, all-encompassing Core Set plane, and I understand that they borrow from all worlds and even worlds we've never seen before.
The Magic stuff is just part of a Trading Card Vendor brochure I found. It is for June and I guess they just wanted to clip art something summer onto it. What really amazed me is on the back is says their top 100 selling stores...and #1 is in Honolulu.

They aren't. The cards have referenced multiple planes in the core set, even ones we haven't seen before. There was some initial mix up back in m10 when someone from Wizards said all the cards were from Dominaria.
It was disproven when another employee came by and told us that there is no one specific plane the core set comes from.
Also, I never said anything about a singular, all-encompassing Core Set plane, and I understand that they borrow from all worlds and even worlds we've never seen before.
So why would you make that jump that all things come from a singular plane?
Do you see how many people are jumping to the cards only being from Alara?
My guess is that the core set will be slightly alara themed, but not take place on alara. Some new cards may reference Alara such as this one, but won't use anything else.

This has made a lot of people very angry and been widely regarded as a bad move."
It was at that moment that I realized: I'm kinda just making these things up. We can just write the rules the way we want them to work. People will have fun, and people will get it.
Definitely a cool card and is bound to see some sort of play in control.
I love seeing legendary creatures back in core sets. Now we just have to wait and see if multicolored cards are coming back or if it is just Bolas.
I do like the packaging as well.
Willing to bet that we may see a couple more than just Bolas, but it's unlikely that any of them will be at the common rarity, and certainly not too many of them.
Over all, I feel like this is their most ambitious core set to date from the little we've seen.
Hope they do a 'you vote the card' thing for it too.

I think with RtR being a gold set, they're trying to do a little to get new players familiar with gold.
It's also probably too late for you vote the card shenanigans since this will have to already be at print right now.

Makes sense. Shame about the vote thing, I really enjoyed doing that stuff back in the day.
Just like you make the card's... Great times. Made you feel more invested in the set, especially when things you voted for get picked.

This is exactly what I was going to say.
It's funny because i actually had the opposite happen to me: i started playing in ravnica, then left and came back in alara, so I had to become familiar with blocks not being multicolored.

Heh, I remember I started in Invasion which was a blast. Luckily multicolor isn't that hard of a concept to grasp (at least for me) so I was able dive in right away. Split cards though... THAT'S what blew my young mind.

Don't think the 2013 Core will be on Alara, the Planechase synergy on DotP just allows them to pepper the cards with flavor the cards from all over the multiverse.
Awesome to see legends (and new legends at that) in core.
Awesome to see legends (and new legends at that) in core.
Agreed, Legends are my favorite thing about magic, each one of theme is a regular old... thing, but has done a unique and amazing thing to merit it's distinction.
Each of them has a little story to tell, be it official or 'head canon'. And while planeswalkers are the new 'big daddy' central focus, the legends are the true heroes.
Don't need no fancy sparks or 'outer space mageeeks' to kick some ass.

I don't get it. Are you sure the image with the Liliana on it is a booster pack? So you are saying that WOTC won't use foil wrappers for booster packs, and it would just be a cardboard box? I don't get it.
I would also like to see the other intro packs and the other booster pack images. Are the other intro packs and booster images going to be like 8th and 9th edition, and the packaging is all black for every intro pack and booster pack image, or will it be like recent core sets, and have the package be 5 different colors?
I have to say, I greatly approve of the new box. It looks very sleek, very stylish. It's actually very pleasing to get to see the whole of the "key" card. It gives us regular players information, and helps draw in new buyers. Before it was, "Hey, come over here and look at this cool art. Bet you'd like to see what it's attached to, wouldn't you? Well, buy our mystery product and see for yourself!" Now it's, "Hey, see this cool art? Yeah, this is what the guy looks like, and here's what he does. Sounds cool, doesn't he? Why don't you buy him and learn to play with him?"
I also notice the box is completely black. Perhaps this is a return to mono-colored Intro Packs?
Edit: Also, the new "two booster" thing isn't really new. I think we heard a while back that they'd be throwing in two boosters with each Intro Pack for the foreseeable future, and increasing the price to $14.99 or $15.99 or something. Overall, the price jump was smaller than the price of the extra pack, unless the price of packs goes down.

So um, how are the boosters going to be packaged in booster boxes?
Also would it be better if they had foil wrappers or this cardboard thingy?
Could it also be that the cardboard thingy is the outer shell and inside is 15 cards wrapped in the foil wrapper?, that is, the outer cardboard thingy is only the "blister pack" as a theft deterrent?
I see the new booster packaging as taking way too much space, and is only packaging for the mass market retailers.
Also, the intro pack packaging looks way too familiar, sort of like the Yugioh 2010 and 2011 starter decks, well the American versions anyway.

This is intro pack packaging. We have no indication that they're changing the way booster boxes are made at all.
EDIT: Also, they do sell booster packs in blister packs. Walmart has had them for a while.

I'm talking about the pack with Liliana on it. That is said to be the booster pack. I don't understand how a booster box of those things could work. I also see that the larger packaging would end up taking more space in hobby stores. The only thing I see is that the cardboard booster packaging is similar to a blister pack, and what's inside is the actual booster.
Because we all know, opening blister packs is a pain.
