With all the traditional stuff out of the way, let's run through some of the additional details that were revealed in San Diego. First of all, you might notice that it's a 249-card set. So that means it gets drafted by itself. It also means that unlike the original Ravnica: City of Guilds block, in which the guilds were distributed 4-3-3, the guilds could be done this way:
Return to Ravnica: Five guilds
Gatecrash: The other five guilds
"Sinker": All ten guilds
Simic
Dimir
Boros
Orzhov
Gruul
Guilds are in it. It was announced at the Comic Con Panel.
It will be a large set and will be drafted Gatecrash-Gatecrash-Gatecrash and will be the second set in the third set's drafts (Sinker-Gatecrash-Return)
EDIT 1: Someone reminded me that Gideon was confirmed to be in it, and likely as a Boros member. All the guilds are getting new keywords.
EDIT2: Forgot to mention the guild breakdown is 5-5-10.
Really weird name. I mean, if they wanted to convey uhm... gates being crashed... ie, castles being invaded, couldn't they have found a better synonym?
Makes me wonder if the 'gate' being crashed is the planar boundary around Ravnica.
Too bad, my favorite two guilds are in the second set. Feb can't come soon enough.
Also, each guild has a keyword (or keyword mechanic or mechanic? I forgot how Maro phrased it), and none of the old ones are returning.
I found this odd as they really liked Convoke and how it played out. And I'll guess I'm the only one that will shed a single tear for no Hellbent return loved.
unless my reading comprehension is failing me (as it tends to do) there appears to be an error in the OP: the guilds will have brand new keywords that will be "thematically relevant" to the previous keywords, but will not be the previous keywords themselves.

My guess is that they saw it as a package deal, that it wouldn't be fair to give some guilds old mechanics and some guilds new mechanics. Since they didn't want to re-use all the old mechanics, the only choice then was to give them all new mechanics.
Also, it allows the good old mechanics to be re-used in a different form in the future such as in a future core set.

I was unclear on whether they'd be new to Ravnica (as in, all the guilds get "new" keywords relative to last time, but some of them might be returning keywords from other sets), or actually, legitimately new.
If they're all completely new, I'd be ecstatic. I love having new mechanics to play with!
Its a little weird that a law magician (Gideon) isn't in Azorius, but no complaints from me.
EDIT: Then again, Boros is basically a police force....
EDIT2: SPOILER, thats unlikely to be Razia, Boros has a new Guild leader named Aurelia.

Regarding Stoneforge Mystic
Quote from oranges2 »
This guy, would either eat up several turns worth of mana to get a slow permanent that relies on your already have some board presence (after wasting said mana), or dies without generating any advantage.
To be absolutely fair, those saying "it's not Razia, it's Aurelia"...
All Boros angels are copies of Razia. Sooooo it's largely immaterial.
I'm so keen for Gideon. It's a good half a year away... but I want that Gideon in my hands. Now. He will be a 4-of in my T2 deck for his lifetime in Standard.
I'd expect Sinker to contain a large amount of cycles, say, a Mythic cycle of Guild Champions, mono-coloured Rare cycles, cycles of land and artifact fixing to smooth out your draft, etc...

I felt a great disturbance in the force, like a thousand decks across several formats suddenly cried out in terror and were suddenly silenced. I fear something terrible has been printed

Not retcon. They recognized that the guilds fell, but that they've returned to power during the time between now and when we last saw them.
All the art shown at the panel is on the Magic: The Gathering facebook page.
R Citizen Cane (Feldon of the Third Path)
That was a typo I made absentmindedly. They are getting new keywords.

they would have my five favorite Guilds in this one set.
It's official- I'm even more excited for Gatecrash than for RtR!

Likely because RtR deals with five guilds, as does Gatecrash.
They probably wanted to make sure all guilds got equal love.
