Am I right in my assumption Crypt Ghast can not be played in EDH in monoblack, because of the hybrid manacost nature of Extort?
I think because it' a keyword and parenthesis can be ignored that you could play it in monoblack EDH. I'm pretty sure the reminder text doesnt contribute to color identity.

That Ghast. Holy hell, that ghast is SO SWEET. Do want for Skittles EDH, if I can convince my playgroup that extort can be mono black (After all, reminder text doesnt count for anything)

I am big on Crypt Ghast. Doubling your black mana and with extort to funnel that excess mana into (provided you have multiple extort triggers on the field). Sweet card for us Orzhov enthusiasts.
Genesis will be cool in EDH, not a lot of standard implications.

"I hope to have such a death... lying in triumph atop the broken bodies of those who slew me..."
You don't call "dying to removal" if the removal is more expensive in resources than the creature. If you have to spend BG (Abrupt Decay), or W + basic land (PtE) to remove a 1G, that is not "dying to removal". Strictly speaking Goyf dies to removal, but actually your removal is dying to Goyf.

This is being discussed by Sheldon / the rules committee. Looks like from the discussion (over on the EDH board) it's leaning towards being allowed, since the hybrid symbol only appears in reminder text. Charmed Pendant has already been ruled to be colorless, even though it has colored symbols in it's reminder text.
EDIT: A couple others answered already. I'm too slow! :/
Not sure about Crypt Ghast's standard implications yet. I feel like I'd rather be playing Somberwald Sage.
Ghast is a ton better then Sage. It has extort so you get value and it allows you to go SUPER huge in what is shaping up as a really slow standard format still. Plus you can cast it on spells like Omniscience and Worldfire. You could play it as your only creature in the deck to get a massive devils play/rakdos return, or other such craziness.
This+Chandra+Devils play could destroy even thragtusk/sphinx decks

If that's your "casual," what on earth is required for "formal," a butler in livery shuffling the decks whilst a pianist plays Brahms in front of a tapestry?

I fear I won't have much time to play Magic these days.
I get to watch worlds develop around me.
I get to watch great leaders, terrible oppressors, and trend setters rise and fall.
Limited, Standard, Modern, everything is a different playing field I feel I can observe, but will not actually touch.
I look forward to the stories I will hear.
And more so to the ones I will watch unfold first hand.
Isn't the unknown exciting?
that's not what happened at all. kamahl stabbed phage, akroma, and some old lady and they became korona. then korona got stabbed by her "prophets" and kamahl got drunk with a mutant centaur
I'm starting to worry that this set is suffering from the middle set curse. Usually we get all of the amazing rares/mythics spoiled up front and then all of the junk rares/commons/uncommons spoiled last, but so far we've had what, most of the mythics spoiled and a decent amount of rares? I'm just not seeing anything so far that really stands out or excites me. I'm not going to judge just yet, but so far we're getting some fun cards that probably aren't constructed playable and some blatantly bad cards.
RtR had tons of rares and mythics that I wanted to open, but so far the only cards spoiled that I'd want to pull from a pack in this set are the shocks, Obzedat, Lazav, Domri, Enter the Infinite, Clan Defiance and maybe Aurelia just because I'd like to have one.
On a random note, I love the artwork on the Dimir Guildgate.
Skyknight Legionnaire is one of my favorite cards... but that art... nuh-uh.

The effect could prove so discombobulating to combo players, in particularly, they may fizzle and run away screaming. "From that day the Curse of the Plateau was upon me, and I found every hand I ever pull from a combo deck is a mulligan."

I am loving that Ghast. There had been interest in a "mostly-black" deck using all the half-Swamp shocks and the many Swamp tutors available and this guy is a huge compliment to that strategy. He is also a marvelous Extort enabler (obviously). If black-based control evolves in the upcoming standard, I expect this guy to be a pivotal piece of the equation. It is a shame he can't go in a mono-black EDH deck!
Mystic Genesis is a bizarre counter spell. It has the potential to trigger a bunch of Evolves if a decent sized spell is countered, which is nice. I doubt it will see much play outside of hardcore SImic decks, but it is a neat "upgrade" of Mystic Snake.
Skyknight Legionaire is an amazing common, especially if you can strip a few Bloodrusher's in the early picks. Limited has the potential to see some incredibly effective aggro beats.

I hate the reserved list.
Mythic rares are fine.
Or T4 with Overgrown Tomb and Arbor Elf if you're feeling really saucy/lucky

If black can find something to ramp into...
Also, seriously? They're making the Guildgates part of the spoilers? We know they're coming. That's a little annoying.
