More than likely be good in Limited? The card will be house in Limited, as are most rares. It's card advantage, it's a big guy, it's in the color of acceleration, and it comes down pretty early even without accel. The guy is retarded in Limited.
As for Constructed, though I don't like him much, he'll probably be very good. It gives Green card advantage, it gives Blue a fattie... it's not bad at all in control, really, as a finisher. There may be better finishers, though, and if that happens, this guy won't see any play. Like Aeon Chronicler, the card advantage is good, but may not be enough to make him playable, and like Akroma, Angel of Wrath may actually be too slow for this format, since it has no combat-relevant abilities (the Overbeing, that is). That card is good, I'll admit, but I doubt it'll make much impact on Standard. -Jack
house in limited is right... as for constructed.. in the right deck.. i'd say it could be plausible. but i highly doubt it will find it's way into anything archtype wise, mainly because in the majority of standard legal tournament quality decks (which Aeon Chronicler found out so very sadly) dump thier hands quite a bit. and it would just be undervalued. although it could seriously find it's way into a high beater style with (i'm sure it'll get it's own aura and with the Steel of the Godhead/Shield of the Oversoul)
just think.. 4x howling Mine, 4x Rites of Flourishing 4x Steel/Shield, and 4 Overbeing. = yes.. it's got alot of card advantage already. but it could get ridiculas really quickly. with those cards.

Ravarshi Kashaku, Ancient Dragon of the Darkened Realms;
The Merciless Lord of Torture, Permanently Bound To: ">[THE PACK] 11/5/63 - 11/25/09 Goodbye mom, i'll always love you...
Basically I look at him like he's better in cases where you can easily cast him then Aeon Chronicler he takes a slower format though to really dominate.
This is just speculation on what the card could be.....
If it did end up like this I would probable play it.
What? It is on the WotC page. It is a "preview pack", exactly as Demigod of Revenge had when Shadowmoor was looming a couple of months away. There are 14 other cards, with no text other than name and casting cost.
Just move your mouse of the image of the Overbeing, and her text appears (that doesn't work for any of the other cards, btw).
i think he will be really amazing in a UG control deck. splash a little white, which isnt hard with the HybridLands and Reflecting Pool you could add Blink, to have a good Blink - Snake deck that can accel into him, and with the blink and Mulldrifter can keep the hand up to have Overbeing stay a fattie while still playing counters.
Looks alright in a control deck. It would be better if it had some type of shroud, and/or some type of evasion. As is, it's still better at what it does than some other similar cards.
Draws an additional card
Enchantment which is sometimes harder to destroy
If your playing wrath effects you won't randomly kill your card source.
Easier to cast since only 1 core blue.
Has stacking effect with other color Hondens.
Legendary
Can not be used as a finisher
Can not be used as a blocker
Pros Overbeing:
Draws an additional card also.
Potential to grow huge and then be a good sized creature for blocking attacking
Only costs 1 more then Maro if you can easily handle the color requirement.
Can help a control deck stabilize by holding him back on defense with a good sized hand.
Cons Overbeing:
Easier to destroy due to being a creature in most cases.
Wrath effects you might play do not help this guy.
Very restrictive mana cost.
Obviously these cards are hard to match completely but this is the closest you can pull off to pure personal card draw on a 5 mana frame.
I think it has alot of potential. Its a personal howling mine with big body, it a gigantic threat to say the least. Your opponent can't really afford to let you have it in play for even a short amount of time before he gets so far behind he can't really win anymore.
The obvious flaws are the vulnerable to Terror and relative ease of countering a 5 mana spell. I think its a worthwhile tradeoff though. Consider that in green decks this can reasonably come out on turn 3 alot of the time (with Devoted Druid for example).
To me this feels alot like Aeon Chronicler but better. You get the body at the same time you get the cards, not after, and its more mana efficient. The immediate board impact alone makes the card easier to support in the early game. It won't be good against every deck type (aforementioned weakness to Terror) but it will totally crush certain strategies. Seems like a contender. I'll be curious to see if a good deck for it emerges.
I kinda view this as a bigger more expensive version of dark confidant but without hte drawback of life loss. It is very much a "deal with me now" card and if it is let to stay on the board for more than 2 turns will net massive card advantage and stonewall any attacks your opponent would want to attempt.
This card is very simply a control deck finisher for either MUC or UG control so if either of those decks are viable this card will have a nice home for itself and become a decent value rare in the 6-8 range. MGA might have a use for it as well for the card advantage it provides but decks like those generally wont have a large hand once theyve got 5 mana so the overbeing might not be big enough to top out the curve there. It is a good card but without knowing a lot more of eventide it is difficult to determine if it will be one of the impact cards of the set or one of those cards thats really strong but has no deck to be played in

From MaRo
Every rarity gets good cards. That means that some mythic rares will be tournament quality as will some commons, some uncommons and some rares. My promise wasn't that mythic rares wouldn't get good cards but that we wouldn't limit the good cards to only being mythic rare.
Bear this in mind the next time a powerful mythic rare is spoiled
Thanks to chaostheory90 for finding this quiz for me
I'd say if it lives until your next untap phase, you will likely win.
Unlike Aeon Chronicler, it doesn't draw you cards before it can be countered or killed and won't be hasty.
Like many cards, it may be considered "too slow" to be taken seriously by the hive mind and not get the experimentation it deserves.
I'm not so sure about this. With devoted druid (or any two turn one and two accelerants), you can guarantee this guy on turn three. Of the three spoiled green "Gods" so far, this one is probably the most rawly powerful, though dropping a Deus of Calamity on turn three is pretty painful as well, and Oversoul of Dusk is harder to kill. I think it might be worth trying out several of these in a "Get huge things out on turn three and win" deck.

She can be dropped turn 3 in a mono-G deck... I don't see why we won't see her played, esp if we have some ways to protect her in this set, and if we have some good U/ draw spells.

Can I point out a few things: 1. Aeon Chronicler is seeing no play know.
That one needs no explanation, it's fact. Show me a recent decklist with Chronicler if you disagree, cause there are none. 2. Aeon Chronicler ONLY saw play because it's uncounterabloe card advantage Ok, so that's a bit of an exaggeration. Chronicler was uncounterable card advantage against control, a 5-drop blocker against aggro, and 5 for a cantrip fattie against everybody else. However, it never saw play over other fatties until people realized the uncounterable card advantage part. The Maro body was just a side-effect. This card is chronicler that can't do the only thing that made Chronicler playable. Think about how much play Chronicler recieved before people realized the above fact. Answer: NONE! Thus, if Chronicler isn't seeing play, a card that's usually worse than Chronciler won't. 3. This card will see no play as of now.
Even ignoring the above statments, this kinda card isn't any good when the only control in the Meta-game is Revilark and Faeries neither of which would run this. It's like Oona, untap and win ony... against an aggro deck it's NOT a guarenteed win. They can still attack for the win or burn you out. Unlike Oona who leaves only open to burn due to chumping and who isn't seeing any play
4. The one hope for this card is... The green part. If theres a need for a Mono-Green fattie or U/G or mono-G mana ramp emerges as a viable deck THEN this may see play. But even then, the meta-game will have to make a significant shift away from aggro for it to see play.
I'm on the fence. I like the card, and I think its cool and powerful, but I just don't see myself playing this over Oversoul of Dusk or Oona, Queen of the Fey. Both are huge finishers that, becuase of similar mana costs and colour requirements, compete with Overbeing of Myth for slots.
Oversoul is very resistant to spot removal and chump blocking, and Oona is hard to block and creates tokens. Overbeing of Myth is not hard to block nor is it resistant to removal... witch leads to it's upiside: "Howling mine myself" is very good. The card advantage it generates is amazing, if slow. Maby it's more comperable to Guile that way. I think I would rather play this; if my strategy is to counter your deck, ala "sonic boom", I would rather just draw an extra card a turn, (thus drawing more counters), then steal your crap when I counter it, as that seems a more reliable way to get card advantage and lock you out.
The other point to remember here is that this card is monogreen card drawing, witch as of now is only represented by harmonize. Maby it could get a nod in decks that currently play Harmonize when it rotates out.
I am petitioning for the removal of mythic rarity. Sig this to join the cause!

This will see play in mono green decks. In a ramp deck it will be used only for card draw but green card draw is good, I can come out turn 3 pretty easy, and probably be only a 3/3 or something but it will be used as a blocker or sneaks in for some damage here and there. I read people saying they wouldnt play this over oversoul of dusk, and thats true... You play both of them.
Actually this is far better than howling mine, in that it doesen't give your opponent any card advantages. I still would have to say that this seems bad since it has no form of protection on itself. All the demigods that are black are usually better since the cant be killed byrandomevents.
She can be dropped turn 3 in a mono-G deck... I don't see why we won't see her played, esp if we have some ways to protect her in this set, and if we have some good U/ draw spells.
because she has no natural protection vrs anything and dies to just about everything. I know tested it in a block mono green spirit avatar deck vrs block mono black control. every time i got myth out, my opp killed it 5 ways to Sunday. The 4 slots were much better as 2 woodfall primums and 2 lands, despite not even drawing a primums in the following play testing.
