Seems like we would have seen venser by now, seeing as he is specfically stated to have been the first neowalker, and he's an artificer, which helps him appear in scars.
Tezzeret might appear for similar reasons, with a design probably similar to the new Vol.

Yeah, I wouldn't be surprised to see either of them.
Liliana and/or Garruk could also show up, since they're the only two of the original five that haven't returned yet. Liliana would probably be in New Phyrexia if she's in the set. Garruk really doesn't fit, but who knows!

Traditional walkers are. However after the Mending Walkers got nerfed. A lot of the old abilities (such as being immortal) were lost. That's why they're called "Neowalkers". All the planeswalkers since Venser (Garruk, Liliana, Jace, Vol, Elspeth, etc) are Neowalkers.
In an eight player game, is anything good? Don't you just sit there countering combos until someone genesis waves for 42 after all the blue players tap out fighting over a bribery?
Don't bet on Venser being there. We're atleast 100 years after the Mending now; odds are Venser is long dead.
YES. YES, Thank you SO much for saying that. I'm so glad I don't have to now. I've grown SO tired of being the one to say that. And no, this isn't sarcasm, this is sincere thanks.
I suppose Venser is less viable than tezzeret, but it kinda bothers me that he comes up as a plot point in this way and then it sorta gets dropped.
He wasn't an interesting plot point when he was introduced. He was a friggin MAGIC ROCK. In fact, next time you read through Time Spiral, replace all instances of Venser with a magic rock. I think it actually enhances the book. His personality consisted of "Boy I sure wish I could go home, I'm scared! Btw, Teferi, do you think Jhoira would go out with me?"
As for Tezzeret... I have mixed feelings. On the one hand, it's incredibly obvious how he would fit card wise. On the other hand IT'S INCREDIBLY OBVIOUS, which makes the justifications that much more inane for him to show up there. I mean seriously, what GOOD motivation would they think up for him to pop up on the lifeless plane that already has some explanations due for why it isn't a barren rusted hulk.

But he didn't "[come] up as a plot point". You just are shoehorning him in where there's no indication that we should expect him. There's nothing official to indicate that Venser will be there. I'm a bit of a fan of the neowalkers, and would even love to see them do something interesting with Venser, but I don't think they ever will.
Its obvious that something is going down on mirrodin, it'll probably be explained in the set
But that's just the problem. The story is likely to become contrived by explaining it. I mean, last we saw Mirrodin, the only non-artificial beings were Glissa, Slobad, and Geth's disembodied head. So how is there suddenly life to make it happen?
Of course they'll explain it - there's no question to that. But it is likely to be FORCED like many other pieces of plot lately. The same thing happened with Sorin. They had previously laid out flavor that prevented an undead being from becoming a planeswalker, then they backstepped. And people can justify all they like to give Sorin a purpose, but at the end of the day, they ignored their own previously established cannon because they wanted to. And here we come, Mirrodin.
And while the majority of customers may think it's cool, it is a little disheartening to the big storyline fanatics out there.
Whos to say it'll be shoehorned? Mirrodin is still a plane, albeit one with little organic life, but what about mycosynth? That was shown to turn metal to organic material (Bosh)

A harder-core storyline fan than I may correct me if I'm wrong, but I think the Mycosynth was eradicated.
But admittedly, it has been awhile since I read Mirrodin block, and the ending seemed kinda trippy anyway, even when it was fresh.
The same thing happened with Sorin. They had previously laid out flavor that prevented an undead being from becoming a planeswalker, then they backstepped.
I'm not a huge storyline buff, but I'm interested to know where they say undead can't become planeswalkers.

Well, we would have said the same if we were introduced to Karn without knowing his backstory.
OK. All those Geths and Ghets are confusing me a little...
See pic. "Greetings, Karn-Creator."
Anyways, I'm almost positive that enough time has passed on Mirrodin for it to no loner be lifeless. I mean, Argentum (what Mirrodin originally was) was not originally a Plane of all metal. And if I remember correctly, Karn came in after Memnarch fell and "hit the reset button" on the plane. Then there's Glissa who may be a full-'walker by now, Slobad, who had a spark for a while (and no one yet knows the long-term effects of that could be), and then there's all that Pherexian influence from before and that's been promised already via set names. Oh, right, and then the Mirari was indeed reformed by Karn after Memnarch left, and he failed to notice Pherexian corruption last time, who knows what kind of chaos the Mirari could sew with that kind of influence.

We can't be sure Sorin is atually dead. Not yet. He is a blood mage, so its entirely possible his condition was something he did to himself such as Prince Velrav did on Diraden during the Purifying Fire.

Argentum was originally completely metal too. It was even more pristine than Mirrodin became. Glissa and Slobad can't be walkers specifically because her spark was used to bring everyone that died in the ascension web (read: EVERYBODY) back to life which also happened to shatter their soul traps. That was all the reset that Karn worked on the plane.
As for the phyrexian influence, the oil didn't do anything until after Karn had left. Like YEARS afterwards. Memnarch didn't bend down to clean the oil until after his survey of the plane, which took decades.
Is the exact quote. Awesome character. Anyways, anyone notice that the art for Tinker looks like Mirrodin in the background? The shiny metal hills and all?
EDIT: The pic is darker than I'd like, but you can sorta see it.

I'm attaching a bigger brighter version. I hate to be the repetitive cynic, but I don't see any particular resemblance to Mirrodin. Or anything especially shiny besides Tezz and his tables full of stuff.
Also, in Agents of Artifice, Tezzeret had made his home on an unidentified desert plane; I do think this looks like a desert. Could just be that place.
So wait a minute, if the next 'walker novel is about a recollected Tezzeret, rather than a mindwiped tezzeret, isnt it likely that we'll see him fleeing Bolas to Mirroden, where he'll try to come up with a way to fight back, and ultimately end up remaking Phyrexia?
I have no basis for this, as quite frankly I think the 'Walker novels are just plane bad, better than most Magic Novels true, but still bad, but it seems like a good excuse to have phyrexia come back, and gets more Planeswalker fighting going on.

But WHY would he go to Mirrodin? It's not likely he even knows about it, since Mirrodin actually was made quite a bit away from the normal paths of the Blind Eternities. Created planes have a larger seperation than normal, as seen with both Serra's Realm AND Phyrexia.
Not only that, but we have reason to believe that Bolas remade him with a few "adjustments" and that Tezzeret is looking to HELP Bolas. Since Bolas was so kind and generous to have rebuilt him at such expense.

The last we've seen of him was Jace wiping his memories, cutting out his etherium, and leaving his mangled, mindless body with Bolas.
