This is 100% speculation. But I think there will be some sort of planeswalker removal in Scars of Mirrodin. Why? because planeswalkers are getting too powerful and we have no ways of removing them. Attacking doesn't count since some walkers are just fog (gideon) so they can cast their own creature. I hope there is a card that says destroy target planeswalker or something like that, else the only thing we can use is all is dust, which screws yourself over too if you have a walker. It obviously won't cost 1 mana probably 3/4 to be fair.
And do you think the planeswalkers in Scars will be 3 abilities like before or 4 like jace, the mind sculptor... or even 4+?

1st bold makes absolutely no sense. Gideon becomes a creature on his controller's turn
2nd bold will never exist. Oblivion Ring will most likely come back IMO and attacking PW always works well.
th reason planeswalkers cost so much is becuase there is 0 removal for them outside of burn, or removing permanents (not a boatload in standard). Jace will drop 30$ easy if all colors get a significant removal source for walkers.

They already print cards semiregularly that can kill planeswalkers. Burn that can hit players frequently can kill planeswalkers. Vampire Hexmage can kill planeswalkers, anything - like Oblivion Ring, Maelstrom Pulse, Celestial Purge, or even Rootgrapple - that targets most kinds of permanents will do it. Creatures with Haste can hit Gideon, and creatures with evasion can hit other planeswalkers that make creatures. "Attacking with more than one guy" can also get around planeswalkers that make their own dudes. As some of these cards are (or are done) rotating out, it's reasonable to expect replacements, but they generally print Planeswalker kill as cards that are much more flexible than "Destroy Target Planeswalker."

Maelstrom Pulse, oblivion ring, vampire hexmage, any instant creature removal in the case os Gideon, any direct damage for all of them... they're also expensive spells in most cases, so... mana leak. You just cannot remove them if you're running monogreen (and in that case SHOULD have enought manpower to kill them with creatures).
People are building decks thinking about defeating jund still. That's why Planeswalkers are winning this much. There's plenty of PW hate if you want to put some on your deck.

I'm a Spike Vorthos - I love lore and flavor, but only if the cards are competition worthy.
The new ability Infect, gives poison counters to players and -1/-1 counters to creatures so probably there will be some counter shenanigans, some of them will be able to hit 'walkers probably too.
sure they will reprints a kind of o-rings in scar of mirrodin and some cards that can kill permanents. wizards they're not fool they will do some pw removal.
and just like that jace will never drop below 60$ because he is played in extended, legacy and vintage. so when it'll cycle out it will never drop below 60$.
Planeswalkers are supposed to represent another player, so it definitely messes with the flavor of the game to have a card that specifically destroys Planeswalkers (Door To Nothingness notwithstanding).
That said, there definitely needs to be something that can answer them efficiently. I really love the way Mold Shambler and Terastodon do this with the "noncreature permanent" clause - I think they should print more cards like that.
I have heard vague rumors of a moustache-dispensing vending machine in a distant laundromat, across the street from a tattoo parlor. However, this information is shaky, and time is of the essence.

gideon says attack him, ie draw damage away from u while u get CA. how do u know o ring will come back?
so u say gideon uses first ability
oponnents turn, attack gideon, gideon loses counters
you either do the -2 destroy tapped or say attack gideon again. gideon is a 5 mana fog that lasts multiple turns.thats why gideon is so worthless, when ur playing control and u have him he's garbage other than the fact he's a 6.6 but then he gets doombladed.
true hexmage kills walkers but what happens if u dont want to play vamps? all the competitive decks don't run vamps or hexmages.

This seems possible. Maybe something along the lines of Fate Transfer but hit permanents instead of just creatures.

something to control planeswalker will never be print because it's simply too powerfull.Ithink wizards will now stick to the word remove or destroy non-creature permanent or in the same thing as this non-something permanent.
3UU, Enchant target noncreature permanent, you control enchanted permanent sounds like a completely fair card to me.
Oh, and to the OP who thinks that PWs are at least Fog... you do remember that Fog is costed at most fairly at G, Instant? If I can turn an opponent's card into Fog when it costs 4+ mana and has very superior abilities, I think that's a pretty fair trade.
no, one of the best enchant is like control magic and it's control a creature for 2UU and mind control is a creature for 3UU so if they print something like noncreture permanent it'll minimaly cost 6 cmc and it will never be played in tournament because it'll be too expensive in mama cost
What they will do: Reprint Oblivion ring and/or something that destroys a permanent. Maybe even Maelstrom Pulse (I wish for Vindicate but doubt it will happen) or something close to it.
What they won't do: Print a card that affects card type "Planeswalker" directly.
maybe aether snap would be good in the new metagame the planeswalker, the poison counter, the ascension, the tokens. so it would really good but maybe they will the same thing with cranal extraction reprint and give another name.
Just a heads up. Wizards has already mentioned that they will never print the word "planeswalker" in the rules text of a card (save for enumerating card types a la tarmogoyf). The best we can get is "permanent" or "non-land permanent".
We are dealing with lots of counters after all. Sunburst and Infest...
That's what I was thinking too. It would be a really nice way to make up for all the Planeswalker removal that's going out. I could certainly see a new version that removes poison counters somehow, but that may be a little too powerful, depending on how heavily the set relies on poisoning people to death.
Back on topic, I would actually also like to see Faith's Fetters back. It's a bit high at 4, but it shuts down a lot of things, including planeswalkers.

It is a style that works fine.
I would like to see more cards that actually interact with Planeswalkers. Messing with their counters, abilities and ability to enter play.
[Clan Flamingo]
I would like a vindicate type card though.

Even Terrastadon can kill a planeswalker, for a price.

destroy target Jace, the Mindsculptor
BUt i really do hope for another vindicate like spell i feel standard does need it
Reminds me of

Destroy target Umezawa's Jitte.

that only works for jace...
gideon is pretty much a fog + white assassinate...
i guess u could take permanents but that could be broken in so many ways... ie cast through time or something.
