My money's on a functional reprint of Crystal Ball, replacing Scry 2 with "Look at the top two cards of your library, put one on top of your library and the other in your graveyard."

It's a transform card that turns into some kind of weird monster. MaRo said they'd be doning some non-creature transform cards in DKA. My bet this is one of them.

WoTC, thank you for finally announcing the Modern format, an eternal format where everyone can participate.

I don't think a jar of eyeballs has a scrying effect just because it is a bunch of eyeballs. I think the jar of eyeballs flavorfully matches the fact that you drop eyeballs into a cauldron to produce a scrying effect.
Jar of Eyeballs 1
Artifact
Jar of Eyeballs comes into play with 3 eyeball counters on it.
T, Remove an eyeball counter from Jar of Eyeballs: Look at the top three cards of target player's library.
If Jar of Eyeballs has no eyeball counters on it, transform Jar of Eyeballs.

Whatever MaRo will unleash with 'Jar of Eyeballs' on Monday, there is a great certainity that it will likely showcase a new mechanic / keywork for Dark Ascension.
I believe his first preview card for the last set (Innistrad) showed off the 'transform' mechanic.

Maybe he will showcase an artifact that uses transform?

It's hard to imagine a 'Jar of Eyeballs' transforming, unless you tip it over and it becomes an 'Empty Jar'.
Of course, I could be horribly off the mark.
Is it just me or is this a somewhat uninspired name? With names like this, and others in recent sets, it sometimes seems like they're reaching the limits of the English language, despite Doug Beyer's reassurances.

LOL! THat's fantastic...
It's his Twitter spoil for Monday, so it's likely that his article will have a mechanic card, but this might just be a generic anything with a cool concept. My vote goes for:
Pay Cost: Reveal a card from your hand, target player reveales all cards in their hand that share that card type.
Of course it would be a stupidly costed effect like 8 CMC...
When I think of a Jar of Eyeballs, I think of ingredients used to make a potion of some sort. Each could do something like coming into play with counters, then each would have an ability requiring removing counters from other specific ingredients.
This type of thing might not really be practical for a small set, as it won't really work in Limited, but I think it's a fun idea.
Getting crazy, but could it be kind of a potion effect (like the empires set)? If you have jar of eyeballs, jar of tongues, and jar of noses (tribute to michael here), then you do something or other...
Thoughts, alchemy is big in this and this seems like it could be an ingredient, also, with the Empires set, it does seem like it is a possibility.
I agree that they sound like a Potion Ingredient, but I think that doesn't necessarily mean that it is part of a specific set.
Perhaps you can sacrifice it instead of paying the mana cost of Spells that meet certain Cost criteria or sacrifice it to reduce the cost of your next Spell.
Hate to sound anticlimatic, but Rosewater confirmed the new art for the Jar of Eyeballs, is actually called "Jar of Eyeballs".
Not a huge spoiler, but we know there is at least 1 artifact in the set.

I've also made over 95 bucks on this site since I started on 11/24/09. Give it a try!

I do hope we see more Eye creatures. It's such an underused type at the moment, with only 2 non-omnitype Eyes ever printed.

MTGS egos at their finest.
Thoughts on proxies:
Perhaps you can sacrifice it instead of paying the mana cost of Spells that meet certain Cost criteria or sacrifice it to reduce the cost of your next Spell.
that would just be unintuitive.
and would require (unless the creature has no eyes or is a cyclops) at the end for flavor reasons.
That's no worse than Remove Soul being able to counter Soulless One.
