I'd like to see Gandeur just so Korlash could be reprinted - Bushido would be pretty good too, I really liked the mechanic, although they would probably rename it.
With Bloodthirst, WOTC showed us which plain we were going back to next (Gruul's original mechanic.) Hopefully Exalted means Alara will be back. That said, I believe our next returning mechanic will be a hint at which plane we return to next.

What you are about to read the absolute truth about the deck that once nearly killed WotC's revenue.

Simple enough Landfall
Allies
Bloodied/10 Life or Less
Simple but Unlikely Bushido & Flanking ---Both of these mechanics have in the past year seen a lot of interest in bringing back. Unfortunately, it's probably too soon for either one of these "fixed" versions to see print. Maybe M15.
Why would Bushido and Flanking be in the "Simple but Unlikely" list for being too soon yet Landfall, Allies, and Bloodied aren't?

I'm sure Alara will be back one day, but MaRo has confirmed that the next block will be a plane we have not visited before.
I'm hoping for Landfall as the returning mechanic, but I agree that it's more fun with fetches around. I don't think we'll be seeing fetches and shocks in the same Standard, so perhaps we'll have to wait until M15/M16 for Landfall.
Storm and Cascade because they work well together!
Good call, with this seeming push away from aggro toward midrange, i was hoping to see Cascade. Ninjutsu is fun for casual. What about Buyback?

You will not remember my face, your name, or your journey, but in the end...
You will accede my every command.
Some people keep saying this but I've yet to see a compelling reason why we wouldn't.
If anything it'd be the perfect time to bring it back.
With 10 checklands and 5 shocklands in Standard 4- and 5-color decks are already viable, if clunky, as long as they're running green in there. If anything fetchlands would even the playing field, as well as make it more costly to run multiple colors than the checklands are.
Wizards has said that they don't want the mana in Standard to be too good because it creates "good stuff" decks that operate completely irregardless of color constraints. That being said, i hope we get landfall + fetches.
I think that landfall, cycling and kicker are the three front runners. They all pass what I believe is the most important core set mechanic requirement: is it fun/easy to learn for new players.

YMTC: We need a spikey red enchantment. My creations:
RR
Whenever a player taps a nonbasic land, [Card] deals 2 damage to them.
-or-
R
Whenever a player would gain life, flip a coin. If heads, that player loses that much life instead. If tails sacrifice [card] and that player gains that life as per usual.
I think it'd be something that has a bang to it. That could either work with or against Chandra, as she is the "star" of the set. Plus the art featured a goblin, so probably going to be red heavy. Afterall, it is "Ignite your Spark"
I sincerely hope cycling is returning for M14 with Astral Slide, Lightning Rift, and playables that fit the cycle in the other colors. Also the cycling lands cycle!
Its the 20th anniversary. Go big or go home. Bring on Timeshifted II. C'mon Wasteland! (only mildly sarcastic...)
I could see tribal spells (ala lorwyn) come back. Easily understood, all colors have multiple established tribes/open room for new tribes, creature based (which is popular now and easy to understand)
along similar lines id like to see shrink effects come back (-1/-1 counters on my critters for effects) though evolve unleash (or any +1/+1 counters effects) make it harder for some reason (was teaching a ton of new playrers during lorwyn/shadowmoor and many had problems with the 2 negating each other. Seems obv to me but..)
In keeping with the newer tradition (mix of reprint and new cards) id like to see a mix of new and old (potentially) green keywords
Untap is pretty green wordable. Also easy, tbough easy to break.
I too want to see Cycling (with the cycling lands!) for Astral Slide's reprint (favorite card of all time!). I like the idea of bringing back Threshold too as somebody else mentioned. Would work really well with cycling, both are colorless, and it's about damn time modern got these reprints.
Knowledge Pool count: 308
Looking for Knowledge Pools! All languages, conditions, foil/non-foil, etc. PM me with your Pools and we can work something out
I think it would be cool, in light of the RtR block, having something from the original Rav like Conspire or Transmute. I know they just had Bloodthirst in m12, but it could happen maybe?

Landfall was fun, Bushido is usefull, Ninjutsu needs more play. I would consider a Flash or Suspend comeback. Entwine would be fun, Prowl is more for a new set and shouldn't be used in a coreset, Ripple is not the best, Morph could be used.

Too weak, investing all of that mana on something that's just gonna eat removal the second you get it leveled into something relevant.

Nope. Not at all actually.
But that's one format. They are mostly all pretty bad in most constructed formats.

Like an evergreen tree, they're here all year round, more or less.
It's an ability that is not tied to a specific block, you can expect to see it in every set released.
