If we pay a bit closer attention to the product page CFF linked we'll notice it's called "Artists of Magic: Nyx Greek Goddess Playmat." All of the official WotC playmats have a product name of Set Name: Something Playmat, and the illustrations have actual WotC logos. The Nyx and Artemis playmats probably weren't actually endorsed by WotC. Who really thinks WotC would let people print playmats using art or a name from an upcoming set if there were some causal nexus between the artist or name and that set? In other words, if the next set really is "Journey into Nyx," it has to be coincidence that this playmat showed up; anything else would lead to a lawsuit.
Teddy bear has helpfully pointed out Alayna's own page of art, where we find both Artemis and Nyx. Looking over all the art, none of it is magic art as far as I can tell. So there's no reason to think in particular that Nyx is magic art.
In short, there's nothing to see here. Nyx is the name of a traditional Greek deity, so it's not surprising at least one person somewhere doing Greek goddess art would do something named Nyx. Once the "Journey into Nyx" rumors came out, somebody started googling things like "nyx magic gathering" and found this product, which is on the first page. Again, if there were a real connection between this art and the next set, WotC would have filed a lawsuit. It's very unlikely.
And anyway, isn't the art kinda below WotC standards? No offense to Ms. Lemmer or anything, but the art isn't exactly state-of-the-art WotC marketing.

I agree. I just don't see that art and think "magic card." The angelic figure, on the other hand, is quite good.
OK, good chance this is totally spurious, but I feel like this tumblr post by MaRo is a hint we're on the right track.
He's stated previously a Greek and Egyptian plane are both on the shortlist.
I also think you guys are thinking too far into the word Nyx. I don't think they'd name a plane after a Greek Mythological location. Also there's already a location called Nyx in Magic.

Nyx isn't a location in Greek mythology. And that Nyx location on Dominaria is the definition of obscure. I highly doubt the MtG team scours through every bit of information looking for obscure details to make sure nothing is too similar in name to something else.

I'd like to think the creative team is paid to make sure the multiverse is coherent, it is their job after all.
On that note just because there is a place called Nyx on Dominaria doesn't mean there can't be a plane that has the same name: there are countless ways creative could go to make sure it makes sense and isn't forced.
Still, it is too soon to speculate the name of the next block. It could be anything else and Nyx could be the name of a future plane far of in the future. Instead of trying to get into their head and figure out what they are thinking in their Maze of Ith, we should focus on the next release Wizard is preparing for us.
Thinking too far ahead is not the best option here since nothing is confirmed and nothing is denied (asside from the confirmation of the fact it's going to be a new plane and there's going to be Plain cards in it). So my best guess is, we should wait until there's enough info on the next plain and we should start gathering info on DMZ.

Casual crazy magic player, otaku maniac, unrully cosplayer, what did you expect me to be?

The swamp on Dominaria called Nyx is of zero importance. It's never been featured on/as a card and was only in a comic book afaik. It hardly seems necessary for them to go out of their way to avoid using that name or explain that a new plane called Nyx is unrelated.

Well, hopefully they'd explain it's unrelated somewhere. Otherwise some adventurous novel author might try to explain some sort of travel by ancient necromancers to Dominaria who go on to name their new home...whoever had Akroma meet with Serra and Yawgmoth, I'm looking at you.

It was in MTG Battlemage for PC and Playstation too, it fits the current pattern of revisiting sets (Mirrodin -> Kamigawa -> Ravnica -> Time Spiral), and it's MTGs 20th anniversary so going back to Dominaria seems natural.

It's already been confirmed like 5 times that the Friends block is set on a completely new plane.
FWIW, "Nyx" could easily be a double entendre, being the name of a plane and a synonym for night. "Journey into Night" sounds pretty cool when you think about it that way.
Personally, I hope the plane is the dream-plane mentioned in Planechase, where the narcomebas are from. In addition to possibly getting a reprint of narcomoeba, it'd be interesting to see other creatures with similar mechanics.
They already said that the next plane is going to be a new one. If I check out how it's going right now, we have a new-old-new-old (rinse and repeat as much as you want) cycle since Zendikar.
Basically, what we have been seeing is Zendikar-Mirrodin (second visit)-Innistrad-Ravnica (second visit)-Undetermined Plane-Undetermined revisit and so on. For now, this cycle of alterning between new and old planes is working well since WotC can somewhat repair or improve what was unpopular on other planes while trying to develop new planes to prevent a stall in both history and flavor.
So it's pretty much evident that it's goint to be a new plane followed by a revisit. I'm really hoping to see a return on Kamigawa since there's still potential on that plane and room for both improvement and new stuff, but I guess I won't know till M15.

Considering how poorly Kamigawa was recieved it seems very unlikely we'll go back there anytime soon, same with Lorwyn/Shadowmoor

It doesn't matter what "they" say. Around the time of New Phyrexia we got a rumor that after INN we would go back to Ravnica. Wizards went out of their way to deny it. Of course they were lying. Wizards will tell us what the next block is when they want to and until then they will not tell us anything. If they go out of their way to deny something it's an indication that we're on the right track.
Whatever MaRo says in particular should be taken with a grain of salt. Everything he teases about future sets is a half-truth and a play on words. The fact that MaRo explicitly says "...Friends takes place on a brand new plane." actually suggests that we will be returning to an old plane because MaRo wouldn't explicitly leak a detail like that.
Kamigawa is in a tie with Dominaria on that poll. Kamigawa being widelly unpopular? Not anymore since more and more persons turn their attention towards Japanese stuff like animes and mangas. Guess what else get the attention. And it was suggested in that poll to slightly change it as ''Which plane should get a revisit?''. Never got modified, but that's not important right now.

Lorwyn and Kamigawa were poorly recieved blocks according to WotC market research as per MaRo
Polls on MTGS won't change that: people on here represent a very, very small minority of players.
From what I remember MaRo said Lorwyn wasn't considered "badass" enough while Kamigawa was too foreign for people alongside the "everything is legendary" annoyance.

You'll have to provide a source for that. Lorwyn/Shadowmoor booster boxes, complete sets and fat packs go for a higher premium than almost every other modern block.

The first thing that actually came to my mind when I saw the Nyx art was, "Is that a League of Legends character?"

Funny, the angelic piece recalled to mind images of Varus' most recent skin. Haven't played since my account got permabanned, though.

MaRo has said, flat out, that it is a plane that's never been touched upon. It was never "confirmed" that Ravnica wasn't being revisited.
Lorwyn/Shadowmoor was poorly received? Since when?
