Will dark confidant really be reprinted in return to rAvnica?
They said at one point that Confidant would be reprinted this year, in some form. Ravnica seems like a decent place for him, but it remains to be seen if that will be the case.

If they do reprint confidant, I hope they do it in a duel deck or the like, and not put him in standard. He's the type of card I hate to play against but that's just personal preference :l

They said starting this year we would be getting Modern staple reprints, not Confidant himself.
I know I would not like to be going against 2 of the 4 strongest 2 mana creatures that have existed in the same standard season.
Well wildfire, if they do reprint it this year, then it would have to be this set because it is the last one this year. And do you think the price will go up because of it being in standard or down because of it being reprinted? Also, what do you mean by some form?

Some forms of reprint : judge promo, duel decks, commander products, standard reprint, premium decks..
The price tag, if they do reprint DC will depend on its rarity. If it's a rare, he will probably be in the same price range as snapcaster mage, maybe a little less. If he's mythic, probably 40$, as he would most assuredly see play.
They already know Snapcaster Mage is problematic. Why in the world would they reprint a card into standard that would be like tossing gasoline on to that?
Yep, we have one human wizard that's drowning people in card advantage, why don't we print ANOTHER one that has a lot of synergy with that already problematic card- Snapcaster likes having a bunch of low casting cost spells around so that it can be cast and flashback one of those spells in a turn, and hey, Dark Confidant loves having low casting costs too!
when confidant was in standard during original ravnica, he was like $3. if he is reprinted in RtR, he'll start out high, like $30, then drop quickly to under $10, maybe as low as $5 if he doesn't see standard play.

I doubt it. Legacy and modern will help fuel the demand, there is a reason he is a 50ish dollar card right now. I don't seem him dropping below 15 if he is reprinted.

I was selling them on Ebay for 9-10 also, so this checks.
Think Snapcaster prices while in standard. He's that good.

Out of the blackness and stench of the engulfing swamp emerged a shimmering figure. Only the splattered armor and ichor-stained sword hinted at the unfathomable evil the knight had just laid waste.
the thing with bob is he is a card much like alot of other cards that are Overpowered in formats that have large card pools but in a small card pool like standard he isnt that overpowered. Remember the reason bob saw play back in std was that we still had sensei top with him for a while. once sensei rotated im pretty sure if i remember right he stopped seing much play cause in std he was to likely to hit you for 3+ damage a turn. that being said It does need to be reprinted to bring down the price for modern so I could definitly see it in RTR.

Why do people keep perpetuating this rumour? They were talking aboot format staples. They didn't mention Bob at all in the statement they made.
And yes they said in some form so all we know it could mean Commander's Arsenal or FTV: Realms. There is no indication that they will be making the cards standard legal.

Yeah, but Dark Confidant is one of those cards that strikes as one that's very good to reprint into standard. It can be very powerful without being overly broken, and it's just the sort of card that could create a lot of buzz or excitement around a set.
However, any block it's going to be in seems would have to be incredibly careful about what's in the 1, 2 and probably even 3 drop spots. No incredibly super efficient spells or creatures, especially at 1 and 2. That life loss need to be relevant. Your set would need to have a LOT of it's power in the 3-5 slot or higher, as then it makes for more interesting choices in deck construction. Do you forego some of that power for a stream of cards and a body at the continuous cost of life, or do you play it safer and just choose the bigger more powerful bodies and hope that your not bested by the extra options that the player with the confidant is given?
Dropping it in to an environment with lots of overpowered 1 drops and 2 drops just isn't interesting. Plus, consider what sort of insane power creep and measures would have to be taken to create ANY sort of balance in such a format.
All of that said, look at what the current sets offer in those slots. Do you think any sane person developing a set would think this would be a wise time to re-introduce such a card. Look at the majority of the format defining cards. How many of them cost more than 3?
If it does get reprinted, I hope it has new art, cause I'd get rid of my playset of Bob Mahar aka Liverlips. I dunno what it is but something about having ugly dudes on my cards just rubs me the wrong way.

You are asking Wildfire this question but I figured I would answer the pricing question. If Confidant is reprinted as a rare it will go down in price drastically, if it is printed as a mythic it may go down a little bit but it will prolly stay close to the same.
I think that it's wrong to assume that just because Dark Confidant is good in modern and legacy that he will be broken in standard.
Most decks that run him in legacy and modern don't have very many large or medium drops, and they can also close the game early
Don't get me wrong, I can totally seem him being great in some UB delver deck, but I don't think that he's going to dominate the format if he actually does get printed.

That is yet unknown.
They could have been told it was spoiled and they could be confirming.
Does anybody have a source for this statement?

And look! Let's set Cavern of Souls to human or wizard!
Dark Confidant isn't so dangerous that it can't ever be reintroduced to Standard, but thanks to Snapcaster mage, now is not that time.

That is probably where we will see him again, if at all this year.
