No, the argument is that the block promoted racism when it was in rotation.
That's it. Intentionally or not, I have never seen more racism come out of any magical cardboard set as with Kamigawa. It was not one LGS or even one city, or even one country. I traveled to many magic events, as this was when I was most active playing competitively, and it was the same story everywhere I went.
I did not play in Arabian Nights or P3K era so I have no idea about those sets.
All I know is that Kamigawa produced a lot of asian bashing.
By that logic, we need to ban Snapcaster Mage as quickly as possible. It has an image of an OBVIOUSLY Asian-descended person on it, so it was done intentionally by Wizards. And, on more than one occasion, with different players, I have heard, in a thick, fake, Asian accent "Oh, I snap back Ancient Gludge" (making fun of the fact that most Asian languages use the same character for both "L" and "R", so there is often a difficulty of people who are native speakers of Asian languages to differentiate between the two).
Stop the hate! Ban snappy now. Not because of the power level, but because of the RACISM!

So, you're saying if an asian movie was mocked by racist, childish, ignorant people then the movie was promoting racism? Again, do you not understand how flawed that logic is?
It's not "logic" or an argument.
It's what I experienced when the block was out.
Maybe mass asian racism coincided with the Kamigawa block in the magic community across a very large range of places for some completely different reason.
Maybe mass asian racism coincided with the Kamigawa block in the magic community across a very large range of places for some completely different reason.
If you have another reason feel free to share.
Speaking as an American? Americans are really bad at understanding other cultures. Also, making politically incorrect jokes (speaking in a 'asian' tone) doesn't imply those making the jokes were racist. WotC worked hard on making Kamigawa accurate with the asian lore. Keeping to the source =/= racism.
Are you sure you're not projecting? Because it seems like you're trying REALLY hard to make everyone else look wrong.

Or, it could be that you encountered what many threads on this board are centered on: the fact that there are, within the Magic players, some incredibly annoying people. There are people who are socially inept. There are people who have horrible hygeine. There are people who are, frankly, racist.
This is not all Magic players. It is not even a majority of Magic players. But, unfortunately, negative experiences tend to stick in the human psyche far longer than positive ones, so, it is the jackasses we remember.

Kamigawa block was hardly racist. It may have given certain people a pretense to be disrespectful. But it's still the individual's choice to engage in such activities. Blaming a set of cards is illogical.
I have had my fill of unpronounceable Asian-type names from the first time around. God drafting the block was a nightmare of linguistics and magical cardboard. The only people who liked that block when it was around were the anime fanboys. Some people also found it to be pretty racist.
I would actually prefer new blocks, considering we have rehashed old ones in 2 out of the 3 last blocks. A dwarf set/block would be pretty sweet.
Your hypocrisy is so thick that I'm choking on it.

Check out the thread for my cube if you have the time, and tell me how terrible it is.
Generals meant to be drafted first in a single pack of 6 cards.
And here is the actual cube, meant to be drafted in 4 regular sized packs. (60 card decks)
I'd like to return to "Phyrexia". Just not Mirrodin-Phyrexia. I'd love to go to Moag-Phyrexia or any new variant. All will be one.
The Phyrexia as it existed under Yawgmoth is no more. It was established in the storyline that it was collapsing, something to do with it being an artificial plane. If that is the case, I wonder if New Phyrexia is going to suffer that same fate....
Which would simply cause them to continue their expansion.
Where to, next, Jin?
Oh, I don't know. I saw some guy in a blue police box, and he seemed to be getting pretty much anywhere he wanted to go. Tore out of here pretty quickly. We must possess that technology!
(Yes, I am pretty sure the Doctor IS a Planeswalker!

I say we go to Alabama for the next block. An invasion of Asian people take control of Alabama as revenge for all of the hardships they have faced since the racist sets of Magic's tragic past.

I was refering to Non-old Phyrexia, Non-Mirrodin/Phyrexia. Phyrexia has been to countless planes and Karn has dribbled oil across the multiverse. There are other areas (as I said Moag as an example) where phyrexia gained a foothold. I would like to go to see one of those planes.
I really liked the Mirage Block, but I guess that's Dominaria? I liked the laid back, whimsical nature of Weatherlight, the expansion, sort of felt like a saturday morning cartoon. I'm like something like that again.

I want a Rebecca Guay, Richard Kane Ferguson, abstract-art water-color Mirage-style artistically graceful block.
They've settled into a super-realistic action-movie teenage-boy-badass type aesthetic I'm tired of. I want subtle metaphorical concepts in magic. I want cards like Stasis and Flux and Gaea's Blessing.

I would also like the art to have those elements again, but the digital artwork is (from what I understand) is cheaper and faster. With the 20th coming up I hope they bring back the old artists like they did with Time Spiral for the nostalgia factor.
I want to see a block set somewhere snowy. I want more Snow-Covered basic lands. I want more snow permanents. I think snow is a terribly unused mechanic. (I hate snow and winter in real life)

Why? New Phyrexia has some of the best art design and world-building the creative team has done. Why spend time building another Phyrexian setting when we have a perfectly good one sitting around? I understand the other two sets had terrible flavor and retconned the story to pieces, but we don't have to deal with that flavor any more because the Mirrans are d.e.a.d.
The only benefit to having a New-new Phyrexia is if they do something new with the formula. If they do, then such a move is understandable.

I really think Magic art fans should read this article. It demonstrates how the move to digital art did not really sap any of the quality from the pieces. Rather, most of the changes in Magic art are due to the changing stable of artists and the differing approaches to the style guide.
Any concerns about too much realism should be taken with art design and the individual artists. Aka "Stop calling any bad art "digital" or "pixelated" when it is obviously neither of those things and just call it bad."

The wedding is over. Now it's time for the honeymoon.
When cumulative upkeep was first introduced I thought it was the dumbest thing ever. Now that it's been gone for a good while I think it was the dumbest thing ever.

That is what Wizards should do for the 20th anniversary.
A cool thing about Dominaria is since whole continent(s) haven't been explored yet they can have a first set and not even tell us it is on Dominaria

And here I thought the reasons it did poorly was:
It had been so long since Ice Age, and drafting was not really handled well at all, so that meant lower sales;
