I need a compilation of the types of powers each known planeswalker uses for an MTG inspired game that me and my friends are planning to create. I'll need the help of the gurus and newbies on this forum. Name as many planeswalkers as you like and include any types of magic that/those planeswalker/s uses......
For example:
Elspeth Tirel - she can emit a destructive light that heals allies and kills her enemies.
Sorin Markov - he can suck the life force out of any living being.
I prefer the powers that had been shown on the books/comics than the ones shown on the cards, and the more the better.
Thanks......

Garruk has been shown to be able to help plants grow, as well as capture the spirits of the many animals he's hunted down to summon at will.
Chandra sets things on fire
Sarkhan can turn into a dragon, talk to them.
Venser is a master of teleportation and articifer stuff.
Gideon appears to just be some sort of badass fighter.

Koth is a geomancer
Jace is a mind mage
Venser specialises in teleportation and artifice.
Karn is the Legacy Weapon.
Ral Zarek does astrapomancy (lightning)
Liliana works with shadows
Chandra = pyromancy
Elspeth does wrath and soldiers
Ajani is a healer
Gideon works with hieromancy (tapping, direct attack, angels)
Sorin's speciality is blood magic
Kiora Atua works with the great beasts of the sea.
Garruk specialises in beast summoning.
Nicol Bolas does mind magic much better than jace, along with destroying things.
Nissa does elf tribal.
Tezzeret is artifice and aethermancy.
Sarkhan's speciality is dragons and the worshipping thereof.
...did you just make that word up? I googled it and the first result was this post. (There were a total of two results)
Things missing:
Ajani can do destructive magic when he gets mad - as seen in Alara Unbroken with Ajani Vengeant. He doesn't get mad any more though.
Elspeth specialises in general warfare, like with soldiers and stuff. She tried to live as a knight on Bant with a lot of success. Until, y'know, big boom.
Nicol Bolas is just evil. Just plain evil. Forget some level of mind magic and destroying stuff, he just does evil magic and destroys everything forever.
Overall, the White walker abilities form a sliding scale; Ajani is on the soul magic end, Gideon is on the hieromancy end, and Elspeth is more or less right in between.
In the book, Venser has a Rite of Replication-like spell he casted. He can also summon blue whisps that light the way ahead of him.

Gideon is a Heiromancer, capable of supressing magic and binding. Elspeth is good at manifesting protection and battle magic. Ajani has limited pyromancy, but primarily his power deals with the manifestation and purification of the soul. Venser can teleport. That's the extent of his abilities. Because he is a lame-o. He's not even a very exceptional artificer either. Tezzeret is an artificer. He even admits he isn't much of a mage, but he can build things with amazing skill. Karn has no specialty in magic, he's capable of weilding everything. Liliana is a necromancer. I have no clue why someone said she was an umbramancer earlier. She animates the dead. Sorin is a sangromancer, dealing with blood magic as said above. Bolas is capable of a LOT but he seems particularly suited to mind destruction. And land destruction. Jace is a natural telepath, and most of his abilities stem from that. Chandra is a pyromancer. Nissa is capable of floral growth magic. That's most of what she uses. She's also an accomplished summoner, but she mostly seems to fight her own battles with her vine sword (which is inside her staff.) Garruk is a summoner, but he has some limited skills at plant manipulation and empowerment magic. Sarkhan has personal transmutation abilities and extensive pyromancy. He also has some experience with empowerment magic from his days as a general. Ral is an electromancer. Better known as a sparkmage. Kiora has a preoccupation with leviathans and other sea beasts. Dack is a psychomancer. He can psychically imprint the magics and memories of objects onto himself.
It's important to note that we've not actually seen what Ral and Kiora actually use.
I have no clue why someone said she was an umbramancer earlier. She animates the dead.
When she doesn't have corpses, she usually makes use of shadow tentacles to destroy/rape you (for instance, in that web comic where she fought the angel).

Those aren't really shadows, those are just tendrils of black mana. Just pure black mana.
Mutilate Tendrils of Corruption
She's also not solely reliant on zombies. She has shades and spectres and other noncorporeal dead to use.
Another question what type of "mancer" should a time, space, and reality manipulator be called?
Also, most of the guys mentioned are neowalkers, anyone who can give an oldwalkers compilation? I'm kind of versed about Urza and the Nine Titans and I know there are more planeswalkers from the old days that I am not aware of......

Venser's inborn talent isn't that different than actual spells. It also doesn't really... DEFINE anything, and really it's a subset of spatial magic. So I'd remove it from the list.
Summoners define their most used spells being related to things they summon. Garruk doesn't do much except create a horde.
Artificers of course, deal with machines and the creation of such.
Jace's ability is... complicated. Psychic attacks and defenses do a lot and can be stretched over a lot of different applications, but by the same merit, Jace is also a summoner.
Another question what type of "mancer" should a time, space, and reality manipulator be called?
Time and Space are pretty deeply linked in actuality. There's not really any seperation there of. You can manipulate space seperately of time, but not in any appreciable ways.
Also, most of the guys mentioned are neowalkers, anyone who can give an oldwalkers compilation? I'm kind of versed about Urza and the Nine Titans and I know there are more planeswalkers from the old days that I am not aware of......
Most of the oldwalkers had a color aligned repetoire, but had vast divergences in their disciplines.
Basically, if it was a green spell, Freyalise could cast it. The best we could give you is their colors (their REAL colors, because people barely know Freyalise was originally a pyromancer as a mortal.)
Old walkers were essentially goods because they could do any spell from any color with infinite mana they just had to be able to think aka how you "killed" them stop there brains. Also as to bolas he can do everything since hes that old he is just a weeker old planeswalker because he doesn't have infinite mana anymore.
By all means, let us not forget the great Ovinomancy. This ancient Blue-aligned art has been practiced by such storied mages as Teferi, Mage of Zhalfir, and the anonymous, venerable Ovinomancer. It is the very definiton of badass.
sarkhan - he can use pyromancy, but his greatest ability is to transform into a flaming dragon it stems from when he was a general, his first transformation got him kicked out of the army b/c he slaughtered his own troops as well as the enemies when he transformed the first time, he has an afinity with dragons, nicol bolas granted him the ability to control, dragons, how ever between bolas's mental magic and the severing of junds mana sarkhan went insane, so he's all over the place with his abilities its kinda the reasoning for the last sarkhan printing "sarkhan the mad"
there used to be another planeswalker by the name of
Ob, Nixilis he was drawn to Zendikar but became addicted to its volatile mana and stayed on the plane for far too long, he had the ability to tranform into a demon when zendikars mana corrupted him it trapped him in his demon form
to be honest there are ALOT of planeswalkers and former planeswalkers (walkers who lost their spark in one way or another) also it depends on the timeline your looking at pre-mending or post mending b/c the spark changed dramatically with the rifts, and the healing of such rifts
"Unfortunately, all of my test animals have died or escaped, so i shall be the final subject. I feel no fear. This is a momentous night."

Sarkhan has more an affinity for lavamancy than pyromancy. He still has pyromancy of course, but just saying.
That "first transformation" wasn't actually explicitly stated as such. He just unleashed an ancient spell upon his ascension after the spirit of a dragon touched his mind. I'm okay with the assumption it was Form of the Dragon.
Bolas didn't grant him the ability to control dragons, he gave him several dragons whose minds he had completely wiped just for Sarkhan. Including Karthuss.
Sarkhan started to lose it as early as the end of the first conflux battles, but what drove him insane was the Eldrazi scratching at his mind while he was in the Eye of Ugin. After he left, he found himself much more lucid.
And I'll give you credit, you actually got Ob's story right from what we know. Not many seem to know the full extent of it.
So far, we are still compiling lots of info, and this thread had been one of our best sources.
Like I've said before, the mancer terms are interesting. Me and my associates have decided to stick with it for now.
Based on the replies we have read on this thread, we conceptualized that each mancer will have the following capabilities:
Summoning - ability to call forth something/someone.
Energy Projection - ability to project energy blast/waves.
Blessing - ability to ward, enhance, or protect.
Cursing - ability to weaken, corrupt, and harm.
Morphing - ability to transform into something/someone else.
A mancer can be an expert on one capability or unlock all the other capabilities.
These are the mancer terms, we have accumulated on this forum:
White (which we renamed Divine Magic):
Heiromancer
Auramancer
Aeromancer <- I don't think this fit on this alignment.
Blue (which we renamed Order Magic):
Dichotomancer
Ovinomancer
Cryomancer <- I don't think this fit on this alignment.
Invisimancer
Psychomancer
Black (which we renamed Demonic Magic):
Sangromancer
Necromancer
Lethemancer
Sarcomancer <- need someone that can differentiate this one from necromancy.
Red (which we renamed Chaotic Magic):
Geomancer
Pyromancer
Electromancer
Lavamancer
Retromancer
Ferromancer
Green (which we renamed Nature Magic):
Floramancer
Faunamancer
Gigantomancer
We are not yet sure on what to do with the following:
Umbramancer
Red & Blue:
Electomancer
Black & Red:
Anathemancer
Blue & White:
Mimeomancer
Somnomancer
We have also acquired other mancer terms from other wiki articles like this one:
Started from scratch, but now I could say that we are 1% there.
Even a seemingly useless data becomes a trigger for something great. Hope to get more from this thread in the future.
Edit: A guy from another forum site reminded us about the game Heroes of Might and Magic IV. Gonna replace the names we have assigned for each color/magic alignment.

i wasnt a 100% on sarkhan, he didnt actually become the flaming dragon he created it
"Frustrated and seeking asnwers, he had entered a shamanic trance, just as his training directed. The spirit of a long-dead dragon had appeared to him, whispered a spell into his mind, and then vanished forever. With the incantation of the spell, a huge dragon made of fire had streaked out of sarkhan's body, and invaded the battle, blasting the field with a torrent of fire. Fascinated, Sarkhan had watched as his men and those of his enemy where burned to cinders. it was a display of ultimate rage and power that surpassed everything he had ever seen. It had stoked a passion in him that had never before flared to life, and along with it his planeswalker spark.
Sarkhan had been relieved of duty that day, but he had not cared" -Alara reborn
thats the first instance of sarkhans powers being put to display
"What did you....do to them?"
"Aren't they beautiful? i had them prepared and polished just for you. They're yours now, Sarkhan. Today you're getting a lesson in dragon control and summoning"
Bolas licked his teeth.
"Strange isnt it? Do you think Serra ever taught her disciples to bind an angel?"
- Alara Unbroken
thats a conversation between bolas and sarkhan when sarkhan first gets the dragons the paragraph afterwards is just Bolas talking about how to manipulate a dragons mind
i reread some of the other stuff on sarkhan and i was off base on his insanity but bolas did teach him to control and summon dragons
there is atleast one other instance of him becoming a dragon avatar through the use of his staff and thats in his fight with Malactoth
