TOM: NEVER underestimate the curveballs that the FCC organizer will throw during rounds 2 and 3. Doing well in round 1 says nothing about the remaining rounds.
I'm just going by my past experience shows that it's likely.
My first two tries (Jan & Feb 07) ended that way.
March and April I failed the pass the first round.
Oh, I have tricks up my sleeve. I just learned from the last time, giving out a round requirement more suited to round 3 or even the finals for round 1.

Salad, I saw fit to refund you the symbol thing (I don't know why I thought it was the Izzet symbol) and the browse .25, giving you another .5.
There is still two wording errors including When should be Whenever, and the revealing the section. (see Gifts Ungiven)
I stand by the copyright part, I think it should be taken seriously. These are meant to look like official Wizards card's, and while I have no problem with someone crediting themself, I would not want to see a card showcased that used that section as though it were flavor text.
I think the expansion symbol is large, and clunky, like an unshaped piece of clay. It's not something I could see on a card. People here have taken to making symbols that are sleek and/or symetrical. I stand by my feeling towards that.
Bonus: 4.5/5. The art is a little on the anime side (nothing against anime in general, I just don't think it belongs on a Magic card), and I really like cited artists. Very pretty futuristic render, though.
Balance: 8.25/10. Another alternate cost option. Baseline: 5RR for a 3/5 vigilant double-striker is only odd due to the vigilance...which is one ability that I can see bleeding to non-white colors from time to time, even outside Time Spirial Block. Plus, it's on a white creature. The basic creature doesn't scare me. Now, the flip side is a little frightening. Since most dragons cost 2RR-6RR, if you offer a dragon up, you won't pay more than :3mana:, and sometimes DH will only require you to sacrifice a dragon. Granted, that's no small price, since you've paid for your dragon, but chances are that the dragon has just decimated something on your opponent's side, say, 2-3 blockers, so you're probably ahead of the game. Of course, there's always the times that you tap out 6RR for your Scourge of Kher Ridges and your opponent lazily pays 2B and shows you Dark Banishing. Times like those, it certainly would be nice to get a nice aftereffect of a 3/5 vigilant doublestriker. All that hot air behind me, is he balanced? I think so. He'll be a nice add-in for a dragon deck, and doesn't have the evasion to be a beasty. It would be odd to see a white card played (almost exclusively) in red decks...
F/C/Q: 8.5/10. Flavor isn't dripping, but it's near the brim, threatening to overflow... The name is a little on the generic side, but creates a nice image, and the flavor text goes light years toward providing for the white "red" card explanation. (2.25/3) There's a fun combination of abilities here, but I really like how you stepped out of the comfort zone and did the double color concept. He's white, but not red, so when he attacks with Agrus Kos, he'll become a 3/7, not a 5/7. I don't know if you were fully aware of that rules interaction, but that's the way it works (thanks, Woapalanne!). (2.5/3) No quality issues beyond a "white" creature with red mana cost and the split of double strike on a white card/vigilance on a red card...but that's sorta the point, right? (2.75/3) You get the extra point for making a card that made me go "wow", and then backing it up with good card design.

I already knew about the interaction with Kos. The original idea was the reborn soul of a dragon in human form, protecting the people it previously pillaged. The original FT was something corny along those lines. Gameplay wise, he was suppsed to give Red another answer to CoP:Red and Paladin en-Vec besides Ghostfire. Also, DoubleStrike is White, too. And in case you were wondering, the watermark is a symbol representing Elemental Fire.

Still, where is the chaos? Balance: (6.5/10) – Now here is a card that seems a tad overcosted. 3 is the correct amount, for a 2/3 with his ability, however, 3 in 3 different colors? No. I personally could see this creature at 3/3, since, if you are going to go out of the way to pay 3 different colors for an effect that effects both players, you might as well throw in a body someone may enjoy playing.
I can't see anyone wanting to play this in constructed, because I don't see where the benefit lies. You could play it in an aggro deck, but of course, you can't play burn. Removal is going to be wacky too. It isn't much of a control card, it doesn't block much, and targeted draw spells could really backfire. I just don't see the point at all. Maybe if you have a ton more mana than your opp for some reason. -2
In limited, this is a rare in sealed/limited we are NOT going to splash for. No one wants a 2/3 with an effect that will screw us as much as it will save us THAT bad. -2.5
This card is.. kinda funny in multiplayer. Full marks. Flavor/Creativity/Quality: (6.25/10) Flavor: (2.75/4) – His name is an oxymoron. A warden is someone who oversees something, which is really not the point of chaos. I'm not sure if you MEANT to do that or not, but looking at the overall card, I don't think you did. And I don't think it suits. -.25
Why is this card white, like, at all? This card would have made a ton more sense as a 1UR creature. -.25 Edit: Refunding .5 of this, as white rabbit has shown with spelltithe enforcer that spell costs are indeed a white thing, the interaction with it was the UR part. I still feel the card would have been better as 1UR, but he was not off color.
A warden is an official. This guy is a dude with a robe. He is also a wizard. I don't think wizards use in their order the title of "warden". Unless he pulls out his badge, I don't see this matching. -.5

Ok, not to beat a dead horse here, but I feel that there are several things wrong with some of the criticisms on my card. I feel that the comments about my card being weak on the aggro end doesn't take into account a few things. This may as well say "spells that target cost 2 more to play" which can put a serious hamper on decks trying to burn their way through your ground troops in an aggro match up, and also for control trying to removal your guys. I also feel that the cost of WUR is not actually that hard to get, too easy i feel to constitute a bigger body. It could also function as a control card however, because this usually wont affect counter spells at all, because a spell cannot target itself. It also makes removal/burn cost 2 more, making them more suceptible to mana leak and its ilk. Finally, allthough this may just be because I made it, I feel it was indeed creative, as its only the second time that I am aware of when that sort of ability has ever been used and to put the twist on it that you can pay to make it not backfire.
and as far as the name and image go, "warden" of chaos is no more an oxymoron than chaos lord, and what sense would it make for awarden of chaos to be neat an structured?

Alright, I hate to be a second challenger of ShadowStarshine, but:

I just don't see the healer in her. Also, I think the render is a tad faded. Both of these things are minor on an otherwise good picture, so I gave a total -.25 Balance: (7/10) – In any current constructed format, this is a pretty slow card for the mana. The mana cost is accually quite mana intensive, forcing it to be in a RW deck, and with certain degrees of both. The rarity makes sense for the uniqueness in the ability, but not for the overall power of the card. While making creative new abilities is part of the FCC, it should not wreck the playability of the card. I can't see anyone using such a slow card in any contructed format. -2.5
In limited, this card is okay, for WRRR it's a nonflying mawcor that can't ping players, or a WWRR really expensive samite healer. Granted, in the late game, it could be quite the force to reckon with and possibily turn the tides of the game. Sure doesn't allow for any type of splash however, with its heavy mana requirements, which can just be less fun. -.25
Multiplayer considerations are about the same as limited. Maybe just a tad weaker for what you are getting out of it. -.25 Flavor/Creativity/Quality: (5/10) Flavor: (2/4) – I'm not sure I get the flavor text. First, she says she can cauterize the wound. However her red ability indicates damage. I get the overall point, but I don't think the card does. -.5
The card does get across what it does and what it is well. It's a healer/pyromancer dual class wizard/cleric. While I am happy with that aspect, I feel that the flavor is simply generic. It's an extremly obvious combination, with no story behind it. -1.5 Creativity: (3/3) – Using X and splitting it between two colors to fuel some optional power increasing abilities is new and creative. The creativeness was among the best qualities of this card. Quality: (0/3) – Holy memory issues batman! There is absolutly nothing on this card that would allow one to remember how much mana you spent. And theres two possible types! You may argue that just playing one it wouldn't be THAT tough to remember, but what if there is multiple? What if this was a suggested mechanic in a set? I think that would just be painful. -1.5

While the ending of it is a newly created ability, I can't guess how it would be done, but I'd assume it would end with ...where X is the amount of (Mana Type) mana spent to play ~.
In the image, the character of the card has a ball of flame in one hand (pyromancer) and is feeding off light from the moon in the other(cleric). I dunno about anyone else but I've always thought of the moon as having healing properties (at least in fantasy realms). As for the balance, the whole "it's horrible early game" shouldn't be a reason to remove points, just because it CAN be played early game doesn't mean it's meant to be. Think of it this way, you CAN Demonfire turn 3 for 2 damage....(without pumps) but you don't... because it's dumb. It's the same thing here. You hold on to it, then play it with maxed out mana (storage lands anyone?) and pump a creature into play that can prevent up to 6 damage or deal 3 or vise versa or something.
The flavor text is more representative of the characters ability to use fire, not necessarily always for killing or damage. For example, people used gun powder to cauterize wounds in the war when there was nothing else to use, something used for killing or wounding was used to save someones life. Thats how I was thinking of it here. Also, I'm not exactly sure what you mean by 'no story behind it'. Can you elaborate? Oh and I agree completely on the wording issues... I made a stupid mistake.....s.

Just saw the judging AoK... one quick question: Why don't you think a :symu::symw: enchantress is EVER possible?
As for a small explanation why I chose blue over green - well simply put the ability that "drew" the card was untraditionally green. Normally green's enchantresses draw cards. This one is more :symw::symu: in flavor though and only gives you enchantment cards while peeking at your top card. Also the shroud-like ability is :symw::symu: as well since it protects spells and enchantments only. Nothing felt green to me about that card but it still felt like an enchantress of sorts. Hence the flavor.

However, I liked my idea of a red creature growing everytime an opponent is dealt damage (my card was the Blazing Elemental */1 ) because I thought it would be fun to play in a burn deck and not too weak (remember it can attack and be sacrificed at instant speed - and doesn't have to be sacrificed EoT like Ball Lightning).
I'm okay with your judging, however, I'm just a bit disappointed about the "doesn't seem overwhelmingly creative to me" - growing in power when an opponent is dealt damage (by anything) is new, I think, and this was my main idea...Bloodthirst is quite different.
One quick comment: Starshadowshine, if you're going to subtract for an ugly expansion symbol it should be from the render score, not the quality score.

I don't understand the thing about the parchment look though, is it just due to the lack of art? I though I made it perfectly clear that I couldn't find any art that matched a "warrior made of hardened quicksilver (see duplicant)" but I guess it's only fair, no need to make comments on it though, I only needed to know that's why I lost a mark.
About vesuva being nowere near ravnica: for all you know the 2 planes could be next to eachother, however, that's not realy the point, I don't spend hours thinking up a good name, if it doesn't work then so what, the flavour of my cards is entirely mechanic based.

Also I would like to say that this one could grow out to be pretty powerfull, imagine this one turn one, [need some excaleration but that's no prob in T1 for aggro]. So you have 3 mana on turn 2 and a 0/1 fella. You shoot your opp with 2 burn spells for at least 5 damage, [Lightning Bolt and Shock as an example] And hit that turn for 10 damage. Next turn you could hit with your elemental for the win or just sac it if he has any blockers.. That's quite powerfull to me..
My card gets ONE charge counter everytime damage is dealt, so it's not exactly like War Elemental (I forgot about this one while making the card, however) and is not too strong - I lost points because it was too weak!

A. There's only three red Demons, two of which are part black. Since I was under the idea that Demons were pretty much black, I didn't make it a Demon Mercenary (Mercenary being mostly black as well, but also being red, blue and white).
B. I probably should've looked at the Mercenaries more because I made it unable to block like Spineless Thug, the only Mercenary I own (A major mistake on my part).
C. I'm a casual player, and I've never been to any actual events or organized play, so casual is the only thing I know.

Balance: 7.5/10. No balance issues here- legends get better abilities than nonlegends do, as a rule. I would have been okay with this guy having vigilance.

F/C/Q: 7.5/10. This card seems very green to me, but that's probably because to me, archers= elves. I won't deduct from your score because of this, because that would be dumb.
I'm glad you didn't. I would have been upset. After all, there are white archers, too.
There should be a comma in your card name, though, in between the name and the "title", as I call it. Also, no artist credit makes baby kittens a little sad.

I just think blue-white enchantress cards are "off"; and green HAS traditionally given cards for certain effects; generally that of creatures or enchantments. I believe that Verduran Enchantress was quite early in Magic's history. The shroud-like ability you mention was also done on Sterling Grove, to an extent...and it's GW.

Bloodthirst IS quite different, and yet it feels similar. Your card reminded me very strongly of what I call "burn spells on legs"...anything hasty, with a large power and 1 toughness. Cards that come to mind are Ball Lightning, its green cousin Groundbreaker, Blistering Firecat, Skizzik (to an extent), and even the War Elemental mentioned by another person.

Not to put too fine a point on it, but your attitude isn't so great about this. I liked your card's abilities quite a bit. You lost the two points in the Bonus score because your render was incomplete- I can't give you the discretionary art point if you have no art, and in your textcard AND render, your mana symbols were absent. This is clearly stated in the rules. The comment regarding the parchment paper was SUPPOSED to be a joke; it seems that you didn't get it, so I apologize. As for Ravnica and Vesuva being adjacent planes, that sort of speculation is best left to the storyline experts. However, I would have given it a name more suited to the type of card it is, a guild card.
@AoK: Thanks for the judging. I'm glad you semi-liked the old-school art. Generally finding art for cards is a little difficult for me. Finding art specifically for a goblin who sets off fireworks was well beyond that. I count myself very lucky that I (my fiance actually) found the art I got.
Generally goblins losing a land or two isn't a big deal, but giving the choice to the opponent can make a difference in Dirty Kitty where you really need those rare green-producing land to bring out Fecundity.
You have a point regarding Dirty Kitty....but hey I usually beat that deck, so I rarely think of it

Well, I'm pretty damn sure I just survived the first round...according to past FCCs, this means I will make it all the way to the final round, in which the "theme" will be something I suck at and I'll lay an egg.

I also disagree that this guy is too powerful. In order to get this critter to be a 2/4, you have to invest at least three spells. Including the card itself, is this not undercosted in what it does. Playing this turn 2 will mean a 2/1 haster - nothing fantastic there, and subsequent turns means red needs to hold tricks for combat. Not only will you have to hold them, but the surprise is lost as your opponent will plan accordingly.
Regarding flavour, I thought it was simple. The Spirit becomes infused with spell's power, effectively seen as sand becoming a part of her and the dissolving of the sand as the spells disappear. The flavour text melds the Timespiral concept of rifts shattering the bonds of reality.

Salad, I saw fit to refund you the symbol thing (I don't know why I thought it was the Izzet symbol) and the browse .25, giving you another .5.
There is still two wording errors including When should be Whenever, and the revealing the section. (see Gifts Ungiven)
I stand by the copyright part, I think it should be taken seriously. These are meant to look like official Wizards card's, and while I have no problem with someone crediting themself, I would not want to see a card showcased that used that section as though it were flavor text.
I think the expansion symbol is large, and clunky, like an unshaped piece of clay. It's not something I could see on a card. People here have taken to making symbols that are sleek and/or symetrical. I stand by my feeling towards that.

Ok, not to beat a dead horse here, but I feel that there are several things wrong with some of the criticisms on my card. I feel that the comments about my card being weak on the aggro end doesn't take into account a few things. This may as well say "spells that target cost 2 more to play" which can put a serious hamper on decks trying to burn their way through your ground troops in an aggro match up, and also for control trying to removal your guys. I also feel that the cost of WUR is not actually that hard to get, too easy i feel to constitute a bigger body. It could also function as a control card however, because this usually wont affect counter spells at all, because a spell cannot target itself. It also makes removal/burn cost 2 more, making them more suceptible to mana leak and its ilk. Finally, allthough this may just be because I made it, I feel it was indeed creative, as its only the second time that I am aware of when that sort of ability has ever been used and to put the twist on it that you can pay to make it not backfire.
and as far as the name and image go, "warden" of chaos is no more an oxymoron than chaos lord, and what sense would it make for awarden of chaos to be neat an structured?

Render Quality (.75/1) - I see the red fireball indicating her direct damage, but the white makes me question if she is casting an iceball or summoning a lightning storm. I just don't see the healer in her. Also, I think the render is a tad faded. Both of these things are minor on an otherwise good picture, so I gave a total -.25
Balance: (7/10) – In any current constructed format, this is a pretty slow card for the mana. The mana cost is accually quite mana intensive, forcing it to be in a RW deck, and with certain degrees of both. The rarity makes sense for the uniqueness in the ability, but not for the overall power of the card. While making creative new abilities is part of the FCC, it should not wreck the playability of the card. I can't see anyone using such a slow card in any contructed format. -2.5
In limited, this card is okay, for WRRR it's a nonflying mawcor that can't ping players, or a WWRR really expensive samite healer. Granted, in the late game, it could be quite the force to reckon with and possibily turn the tides of the game. Sure doesn't allow for any type of splash however, with its heavy mana requirements, which can just be less fun. -.25
Multiplayer considerations are about the same as limited. Maybe just a tad weaker for what you are getting out of it. -.25
Flavor/Creativity/Quality: (5/10)
Flavor: (2/4) – I'm not sure I get the flavor text. First, she says she can cauterize the wound. However her red ability indicates damage. I get the overall point, but I don't think the card does. -.5
The card does get across what it does and what it is well. It's a healer/pyromancer dual class wizard/cleric. While I am happy with that aspect, I feel that the flavor is simply generic. It's an extremly obvious combination, with no story behind it. -1.5
Creativity: (3/3) – Using X and splitting it between two colors to fuel some optional power increasing abilities is new and creative. The creativeness was among the best qualities of this card.
Quality: (0/3) – Holy memory issues batman! There is absolutly nothing on this card that would allow one to remember how much mana you spent. And theres two possible types! You may argue that just playing one it wouldn't be THAT tough to remember, but what if there is multiple? What if this was a suggested mechanic in a set? I think that would just be painful. -1.5

While the ending of it is a newly created ability, I can't guess how it would be done, but I'd assume it would end with ...where X is the amount of (Mana Type) mana spent to play ~.
In the image, the character of the card has a ball of flame in one hand (pyromancer) and is feeding off light from the moon in the other(cleric). I dunno about anyone else but I've always thought of the moon as having healing properties (at least in fantasy realms). As for the balance, the whole "it's horrible early game" shouldn't be a reason to remove points, just because it CAN be played early game doesn't mean it's meant to be. Think of it this way, you CAN Demonfire turn 3 for 2 damage....(without pumps) but you don't... because it's dumb. It's the same thing here. You hold on to it, then play it with maxed out mana (storage lands anyone?) and pump a creature into play that can prevent up to 6 damage or deal 3 or vise versa or something.
The flavor text is more representative of the characters ability to use fire, not necessarily always for killing or damage. For example, people used gun powder to cauterize wounds in the war when there was nothing else to use, something used for killing or wounding was used to save someones life. Thats how I was thinking of it here. Also, I'm not exactly sure what you mean by 'no story behind it'. Can you elaborate? Oh and I agree completely on the wording issues... I made a stupid mistake.....s.

As for a small explanation why I chose blue over green - well simply put the ability that "drew" the card was untraditionally green. Normally green's enchantresses draw cards. This one is more :symw::symu: in flavor though and only gives you enchantment cards while peeking at your top card. Also the shroud-like ability is :symw::symu: as well since it protects spells and enchantments only. Nothing felt green to me about that card but it still felt like an enchantress of sorts. Hence the flavor.
Thank you for the judging. I guess I'll still have to learn a bit and to spend a bit more time on one card before I can succeed in a greater contest like this.
However, I liked my idea of a red creature growing everytime an opponent is dealt damage (my card was the Blazing Elemental */1 ) because I thought it would be fun to play in a burn deck and not too weak (remember it can attack and be sacrificed at instant speed - and doesn't have to be sacrificed EoT like Ball Lightning).
I'm okay with your judging, however, I'm just a bit disappointed about the "doesn't seem overwhelmingly creative to me" - growing in power when an opponent is dealt damage (by anything) is new, I think, and this was my main idea...Bloodthirst is quite different.

The mana symbols thing seems kinda picky, what's the point? I hadn't even noticed I forgot, that'll teach me not to copy from my card render. I don't understand the thing about the parchment look though, is it just due to the lack of art? I though I made it perfectly clear that I couldn't find any art that matched a "warrior made of hardened quicksilver (see duplicant)" but I guess it's only fair, no need to make comments on it though, I only needed to know that's why I lost a mark.
About vesuva being nowere near ravnica: for all you know the 2 planes could be next to eachother, however, that's not realy the point, I don't spend hours thinking up a good name, if it doesn't work then so what, the flavour of my cards is entirely mechanic based.

My card gets ONE charge counter everytime damage is dealt, so it's not exactly like War Elemental (I forgot about this one while making the card, however) and is not too strong - I lost points because it was too weak!

My explanations for the card:
A. There's only three red Demons, two of which are part black. Since I was under the idea that Demons were pretty much black, I didn't make it a Demon Mercenary (Mercenary being mostly black as well, but also being red, blue and white).
B. I probably should've looked at the Mercenaries more because I made it unable to block like Spineless Thug, the only Mercenary I own (A major mistake on my part).
C. I'm a casual player, and I've never been to any actual events or organized play, so casual is the only thing I know.

I just think blue-white enchantress cards are "off"; and green HAS traditionally given cards for certain effects; generally that of creatures or enchantments. I believe that Verduran Enchantress was quite early in Magic's history. The shroud-like ability you mention was also done on Sterling Grove, to an extent...and it's GW.
Bloodthirst IS quite different, and yet it feels similar. Your card reminded me very strongly of what I call "burn spells on legs"...anything hasty, with a large power and 1 toughness. Cards that come to mind are Ball Lightning, its green cousin Groundbreaker, Blistering Firecat, Skizzik (to an extent), and even the War Elemental mentioned by another person.
Not to put too fine a point on it, but your attitude isn't so great about this. I liked your card's abilities quite a bit. You lost the two points in the Bonus score because your render was incomplete- I can't give you the discretionary art point if you have no art, and in your textcard AND render, your mana symbols were absent. This is clearly stated in the rules. The comment regarding the parchment paper was SUPPOSED to be a joke; it seems that you didn't get it, so I apologize.
As for Ravnica and Vesuva being adjacent planes, that sort of speculation is best left to the storyline experts. However, I would have given it a name more suited to the type of card it is, a guild card.
You have a point regarding Dirty Kitty....but hey I usually beat that deck, so I rarely think of it

You're right about the comma, however, to me it looks messy if it isn't there, maybe that's personal preference. As to the archers and color, yours were fine.

I also disagree that this guy is too powerful. In order to get this critter to be a 2/4, you have to invest at least three spells. Including the card itself, is this not undercosted in what it does. Playing this turn 2 will mean a 2/1 haster - nothing fantastic there, and subsequent turns means red needs to hold tricks for combat. Not only will you have to hold them, but the surprise is lost as your opponent will plan accordingly.
Regarding flavour, I thought it was simple. The Spirit becomes infused with spell's power, effectively seen as sand becoming a part of her and the dissolving of the sand as the spells disappear. The flavour text melds the Timespiral concept of rifts shattering the bonds of reality.
