ace takes a mulligan <Yasuragi> Keep ace takes a mulligan ace takes a mulligan ace takes a mulligan ace takes a mulligan ace takes a mulligan ace takes a mulligan ace draws 7 cards <Yasuragi> now that's a little shiesty <ace> sry
Anyone run into this before? Seems to me like blatant cheating...
Yea people do this sometimes, I either allow it or leave depending on if I know them or not. Some guy a couple days ago mulled 3 times then said "next game?"...I was a little annoyed because my hand was good and I was there to test not win games. If it had been a real tourney I would have been all for the concession but it doesn't help me on mws.

It's funny because innocent people that were trying to pay the bills for their families were brutally murdered.
It's not obvious, but if you have no cards in hand mulligan in MWS you draw seven cards. That may have been what happened, though it is still cheating.
The game name was EXT 2/3sb PTQ Testing. I'm playing UG Tron, and he's playing Next Level Blue. I have a Sundering Titan out against his 3/4 Tarmogoyf with two mana open.

On the scale of things that's not too rude, but saying 'lmao' at that point to me means something close to 'wow, good job noob' instead of 'oh well, I lose/get unlucky sometimes.' Him leaving after the first game supports this.

If I have to mulligan multiple times due to excessive/lack of lands, I will only concede below four cards. After all, you never know what might happen. But I have conceded multiple times when having back-to-back all/no land hands. After all, If I'm just sitting there like a log, you might as well just be playtesting in solo mode. I would rather play a real game then walk all over someone just for the hell of it.
It's not obvious, but if you have no cards in hand mulligan in MWS you draw seven cards. That may have been what happened, though it is still cheating.
I do know about this feature, and use it to draw my opening hand. It was pretty obvious from the way he timed it that he knew exactly what would happen. It wasn't rapid-fire; each mulligan was done over the course of 4-5 seconds. Sorry I didn't have times attached, but my game log save feature has been acting up and will only save the first game each time I have a MWS Play window open (even if I manually save). I just think that if your hand was that bad each time, then too bad, you lost, next match.

I am somewhat confused here. I see that his Tarmogoyf would not have died. But why did he then say that 'it' would die anyway? What is 'it?' Then you agreed with him, which I find admirable to admit error. The second confusing bit to me is that he got angrier after you agreed with him...?
I don't see Mogg agreeing at all. His opponent seems to be under the impression that the card goes to the graveyard after the resolution, but...ykno'. Some people never accept it.
If Tarmogoyf is 1/2 and you Nameless Inversion it, it would become a 4/-2 (Thus dying) and then the inversion would go to the graveyard. The contents of graveyards not withstanding, Nameless Inversion isn't in the graveyard yet. I think it Mr. Mogg was wrong. Then again, Urza didn't seen to wish to explain himself, so I would claim mutual fault.
I think it would be more fun if in future, players would put up the logs in terms of Player1 and Player 2 and not say who they were. Here's a hypothetical game.
Player 1: ShockSkulking Knight
Player 2: Tap Mother of Runes, choose red.
Player 2: You take 3 damage.
Player 1: No I don't, read your cards.
Player 2: Protection from red, not to mention it has 3 toughness n00b.
Player 2: What are you, retarted?
Player 1: Whatever.
<System> Player Lost
This would be funny if I were player 1 (and if this had actually happened, though I'll admit similar things have happened to me.) On the other hand if I was player 2 what would you all say? I hope something particularly nasty to me.
I'd say that's agreeing. He just stated the same thing as his opponent. And the opponent is right, before SBEs can be checked, Tarmogoyf will have gotten the bonus from its own ability. See Star City Games' Ask the Judge for more info. To clarify, State-Based effects are not checked until after the resolution of the spell. Tarmogoyf cannot be put into the graveyard until after Nameless Inversion is already there, and by that point Tarmogoyf's ability will already be active.

Note I said "I think it Mr. Mogg was wrong." and not "Mr. Mogg was wrong." I think that's a stupid ruling, but it is the way the game works and that's the way it has to be played.
I stand by the latter part of my comment, that is that sometimes people do post things that make them look stupid. I guess Mogg wasn't an example of that phenomenon, but I think we can all agree that what I was talking about has happened at least once in memory.
To clarify, the last part of a spell's resolution is to "put the card into the graveyard." At that point, SBEs will check, make Goyf a 3/4, then give it +3/-3. Mogg is not wrong here...and I don't see how he saying it's a 6/1 supports his opponent: it isn't dead, and it most certainly will survive the beating due to Tribal + Instant + 1 other card type.
Ahhh... I see the problem here. I was under the impression that the Tarmogoyf was controlled by URZA (no mention was ever made who owned it). My mistake, and I heartily apologize to Mogg and Kenaron. It makes more sense when you see it the correct way.
I'm rather confused on the return from graveyard to play part...
How does Nameless Inversion return from graveyard to play?
I'm sorry, I'm not familiar with the MWS environment...
To clarify, the last part of a spell's resolution is to "put the card into the graveyard." At that point, SBEs will check, make Goyf a 3/4, then give it +3/-3. .
not quite right. SBEs are checked when a player gains priority, not during a spells resolution. so goyf for a brief instant will be a 4/-1, then inversion will go to the grave at the end of the resolution, and then goyf will become a 6/1. the active player gains priority and SBEs are checked, and hey, goyfs toughness isnt <0.

Of course. I do it when necessary, just like in real life. After all, why would you play a game with a hand you know can't win with?
I think the whole mulliganning thing is retarded anyway. Does anyone ever really play with a hand of 5 or less? I'd rather just get up and walk away; it's a waste of time.

While I do appreciate your courtesy in censoring my username, I have problem with stepping forward and identifying myself as Dude (I'm Brian on MWS).
I am not a completive Magic player in that the only sanctioned events I play in are prerelease tournaments and the occasional draft. I simply don't use sideboards when I play and its obviously unfair to play against a deck with an SB when I don't have one.
On MWS, I've found that decks with SBs tend to be exception, and not the rule so I don't bother making them on there (Frankly, I wouldn't know where to start as I've never built one before).
I started a game with yasuragi assuming that we would either be able to agree to not use sideboards, or simply just play one game. I didnt' expect him to take it so hard, so I apologized.

My problem with this was that he wanted to essentially get to mulligan for free to seven cards. That defeats the whole purpose of the random opening hand. What's to keep me from just redrawing a full hand until I get the god hand I want if people play this way?
As far as our game, I will keep the discussion to PMs.

I would do it until you DON'T have an unplayable hand. As long as its playable, you should keep it. I don't play in an atmosphere where people are out to get each other like that, so I'm not worried about someone mulling until they have the god hand

What an idiot....I forgot that the controller of Grunt chooses the cards to be put on the bottom of the library, so I double-clicked on my library to view my library so I could fix my mistake, but apparently that makes you draw a card.

The problem is that many of the people on MWS are just looking to win any way they can, and will cheat to win games with no material value.

[GTC] Gatecrash Patch for MWS (249/249)
I think it would be more fun if in future, players would put up the logs in terms of Player1 and Player 2 and not say who they were. Here's a hypothetical game.
Player 1: Shock Skulking Knight

[GTC] Gatecrash Patch for MWS (249/249)
:symb::symr::symg:Jund:symb::symr::symg:
How does Nameless Inversion return from graveyard to play?
I'm sorry, I'm not familiar with the MWS environment...
not quite right.

*shrug*
My problem with this was that he wanted to essentially get to mulligan for free to seven cards. That defeats the whole purpose of the random opening hand. What's to keep me from just redrawing a full hand until I get the god hand I want if people play this way?
As far as our game, I will keep the discussion to PMs.
:symb::symr::symg:Jund:symb::symr::symg:
I would do it until you DON'T have an unplayable hand. As long as its playable, you should keep it. I don't play in an atmosphere where people are out to get each other like that, so I'm not worried about someone mulling until they have the god hand
So be it.

Yup, I'm the wolf your mother warned you about!!
:symb::symr::symg:Jund:symb::symr::symg:
I see...that's pathetic on their part. I honestly haven't witnessed it myself, thankfully. I would never condone cheating.
