If "under God" isn't endorsing a particular religion, I'm Bob Hope.
Seriously the pledge is silly....I have never said it again since I got smart enough to understand religions and what I believe in...which isn't god...I have had many people try to say I was forced to do the pledge as a student and I have proved them wrong...cause seriously "i pledge alegiance under satan" has just as much meaning to me and many others...I will not pledge alegance to anything/one under something I don't believe...Its just plain offensive to make people do it...
All the best,
MTG Salvation Forums
My main qualm is that you had out infractions for words that don't get edited out by your curse filter...this is the same trick as a speed trap by a cop at the bottom of a large hill...You are actually worse than those cops who set people up for tickets...Because the tickets you moderators give out do nothing but hurt the community...You gain nothing from handing this out without basis as you see fit as there is no consistancy in the moderation of said infraction...I have reported many times of people using language that isn't under the filter that is inappropriate and nothing happens to them...
I duno maybe I'm the only one who thinks logically that the filter should edit all inappropiate language....

What was the silly word replaced? Context can make a difference - there are uses of, for example, ***** that I would pass over, + other uses that I would infract.
If you said the pledge was homosexual, then you certainly deserved that.
Obviously knowing what word was used is important here.
We don't encourage anyone to use inappropriate language, censor or no, so your line of reasoning doesn't fly. Use different, appropriate words in the future, and there won't ever be a problem.

... The pledge is not silly. You should be honored to be an American and stand up for what is right and just, even if sometimes our elected leaders screw up. Aside from that.
Cops that hide and just so happen to catch you speeding isn't immoral. You broke the law and you got caught. Good job, don't speed and there are no problems.

DON'T do the crime if you can't do the time.
First: There already is a thread to talk about the pledge (I believe)
Second: He's talking about cops that actually set people up to get caught. For example, (this actually happened) a man is at a stop light and a chick comes up next to him and revs her engine, enticing the man to race her. However, the man was my father who doesnt speed, so when the light turned green, he just sat there.. and so did the chick. As he drives forward he see's a cop around the next corner and the chick stops and talks with him. She had been hired to get people to speed of that light and get caught.
Third: I really want to know what the word "silly" replaces. It certainly makes a difference what it is. Plus, in the rules it states that deragatory words can be infracted. The censor can't keep up on all the slang we use these days.

It wasn't that or nearly that bad...I really feel in the context it wasn't offensive, it was used as the discription of the action of the word...Can I say the word here without actually getting another infraction? cause another infraction will be a suspension...

The word isn't censored, and given that it'd be an explanatory usage, I think you could even censor-evasion to say what word it was if it were censored.
Many words aren't censored because they do have perfectly valid, non-inflammatory uses (or because they occur in other words ways that the swear filter catches illogically. :x). As Seds noted, "gay" is a big one - using it as an insult is very not okay, but using it in the literal sense happens a lot.

Ohhhh, okay.
I think you said 'retarded', then?
I have been moderating people for using that inappropriately before...and there is no reason to censor it for obvious reasons.

Yea again I wasn't actually using the word to describe the people the word pertains to...I simply said the forcing people to say the pledge was *what urzased said*- to act with retardation...by the way there is retardant in paint to make it cure slower so that it doesn't dry before it hits the surface of what your trying to paint....

what is the obvious reason? if you are going to infract people for using it why allow it through the filter? This is the exact thing I am complaining about you infract people for using it yet wont put it on the filter....

It's not filtered because there are appropriate uses for it. Your use of it just wasn't one of those.
Words like the N-word and most of George Carlin's seven dirty words are filtered because there are no appropriate contexts for those to be used on this site. "Retarded" isn't one of those.

what appropriate use of that is there if using it as the adjective that is? Because that is exactly how I used it...direct definition of the word out of the dictionary in the appropriate verbage and usage...And I have already searched and there are no other words in the english dictionary that contain said word that would be edited by the filter accidentally...

Actually there is no good use of that, nevermind.
It is outdated and offensive, even in the 'correct' usage, such as using a term like 'colored'...
Yeah, adding it to the censor. But just because it wasn't in there doesn't mean you can't get modded for it.

The infraction isn't for using it in a way other than the dictionary says it's okay. We're not grammar nazis and don't want to become grammar nazis. You get infracted because you use it in a way that's commonly thought to be offensive, which is trolling and/or flaming.

Yeah, adding it to the censor. But just because it wasn't in there doesn't mean you can't get modded for it.
Thank you for adding it....
But seriously your saying even if the filter catches the word and edits it to be in the ** format you will still infract a person for it?

Then why was I infracted for appropriate language? And how is it flaming if there was no one person addressed to flame on? As I never said who I was describing as there is no one person to address on that subject...Nor was it a troll as it was clearly not ment to start an argument I was just stating my oppinion which is the point of the section that post was in...
This situation continues to blow my mind on how inconsistant this moderation action is...its like the mods are kids with a big hammer that if you happen to look them in the eye as you walk passed and they don't like it they hit you with it but if you look down as you pass they leave you alone...

It is offensive to the group involved. They (and people supporting/helping them) no longer use that term. An internet poll means nothing.
It probably shouldn't have been an infraction. Infraction reversed, warning given, thread closed.
