Are you aware that I was a moderator of this side until a couple hours ago and that the information I posted was the reason I resigned, and the real answer to the question which NightArcher could not answer to because he has to comply with a Code of Conduct we all signed in order to become volunteers for this site and donate our time to it? Have you even been following this thread?

Also, quickly re: the Miserable Users add-on: we do have it, but we do not use it, and as far as I know, we never have. I have only been a staff member for a little over a year, though, so you'll have to take that with a grain of salt.
FWIW:
The Miserable Users add-on was installed because I asked Hannes for it; my intention was to use it with banned spammers so that they'd think there was something wrong with the site and not come back.
edit: this was last year, while I was an admin. Wording cleanup (should not be sleep-posting.)

Ah yeah, this is thee BEST use of the mod; banned people who just keep remaking and remaking accounts, that you can never get rid of. They give up if the site is constantly broken and more effort than its worth.
It actually says express your support to help save the community. So, no, that's not what he wanted. Thank you for your critical reading attempt, at least you tried.
That depends entirely on how you define save the community. If the community is the gutter, than sure, he's wrong. If the community is MTGS, then its entirely up to interpretation of him, if his opinion is that the gutter is bad for the MTGS community as a whole, erm, sorry Kijin?
Blech.
I can't really decide what side is better, or even if one is. Mod and admin actions in regards to the gutter seem reprehensible at best. However, the gutter response has been wholly spiteful and vitriolic. Case in point, this post. Kijin is, in my experience, a relatively polite poster (I really like him, and was disappointed with his removal as mod).
I guess OP wants it to be 'keyworded' like "dies" was. What word would you replace ETB with though?
When Aegis Angel is born?
When Huntmaster of the Fells arrives?
When Kitchen Sphinx lands?
When Faerie Imposter busts in?
When Dread Cacodemon pops in?
When Malfegor shows up?
There is an expectation of privacy in the mod lounge. Posters post there with the expectation that their posts will only be visible to current and future Mods.
wrong. there should be and never ever should be a thread in any mod area that is meant to purposely bash users of the site. more so then to say that said mod or admin are not bias when handing out decisions.
you cannot claim to be not bias one sec then posting in a thread "user x is a fing idiot".
it is a clear violation of the rules. whether it is in the mod forum or not.
anyone else that would start such a thread would be probably auto-banned from the site no questions asked.
everybody else to provide a better experience for everybody else.
umm the only way to see the gutter is to belong to the gutter. since most people do not belong to the gutter then it has no effect on them whatsoever.
Dont know about most everywhere else, but i know that if you do voluntary work for a registered charity here in England, you will often find yourself having to adhere to a Code of Conduct, at which part you will find a lot of it is ''representing the charity and its best interests in lieu of your own''. Thats kind of standard. In fact, it probally was a move suggested to adhere to a more formal manner and step forward, probally to match SCG (who, ironically, have a CoC), to gain favour with WOTC in the way other sites have. Just saying.
SCG has a CoC? Also news to me. (I 'worked' for them and never had to deal with anything like that) The only thing I know they have is a 'don't cause harm to our brand or insult our writers or ye be fired' clause. (Drew Levin is some outlier)
CFB doesn't. See Paulo. See Owen. (Owen almost got CFB in hot water for his TCGPlayer commentating though.)
Other magic sites don't. Gatheringmagic does not....Obviously I am expected to not be a total jackwagon, but I'm a born critic, so eh.
MTGS never had one before, and it would do nothing in the way of gaining favor with WoTC. You see, this website is where people go to post spoilers, because it is the place people have always done it. (And other sites, like SCG, GM, etc have WoTC-affiliated people running/writing for them, and it is not something they want to have to worry about)
That remains the only reason this site is exploding with hits and visits. People are lurking to read spoilers, even if most sets have no actual leaks happening, because it is just what they do for every set.
The CoC hasn't really made the mods do their jobs better. I assume it only makes it easier for Admins to fire mods.
Former MTGS admin Gavin Verhey quit the MTGS staff because being affiliated with MTGS was something he felt made him unhirable by WOTC.

There seems to be some confusion about this, so to be 100% clear: the staff discussion was held at a global level – all the global & admin staff participated.
Since it will be said regardless, we were kept out of the decision because there were concerns that there may have been leaks from the mod lounge to outside of it, and that having this decision leak would have caused more of a problem than this.
This is correct. We (the administration & global mods) were not sure where we were going to land with this, & second-hand information getting blown out of proportion because of an unresolved discussion was seen as a negative derail that would further drain our time & energy over matter that was already burdened.
As for why the 'Staff Pegging Chamber' wasn't used, for me, I have no faith in that sub. It's been once used to try to headhunt me, & as far as I can tell the only result of that discussion was more bad blood. More importantly though, it's been made clear that issues there will be aired immediately in the Gutter, so why not just go to the Gutter? & then I guess we could have had a similar discussion to the one in this thread, except in the Gutter, with even less restraint shown on the part of the Gutter members, if the extreme vitriol I receive in there is any indication.
I suggested archiving the Gutter primarily so that former members would have access to their posts, with a secondary consideration to allowing other NSFW members insight as to what the Gutter is.
The CoC hasn't really made the mods do their jobs better. I assume it only makes it easier for Admins to fire mods.
It's made the expectations placed on staff something we can all refer to, rather than some nebulous standard, & the only staff who had a problem with its content or expectations responded by standing down.
However, the gutter response has been wholly spiteful and vitriolic.
A lot of us are simply tired of this. We shouldn't have to fight so often just to keep The Gutter, a public forum comparable to the Mod Lounge, alive.
The Gutter has been here since the site's founding and the site has prospered alongside it. However, every so often, someone in moderation will trigger a huge series of drama fueled by either personal vendetta or misguided moral policing.
The Gutter has existed alongside MTGSalvation for seven years, and it's more tame now than it ever has been. Seven Years. That's longer than the time much of the moderators have been part of this site. That's longer than the modern MtG card face has been around.
All in the meanwhile, the site has prospered because of, in spite of, or simply alongside the Gutter.

Huh. I was unaware that that N_S post was a mod lounge post, putting me in violation of the same code of conduct I drafted. Apologies everyone. I'll wear whatever action is deemed appropriate.
So, in interest of full transparency, where did the 'User X is *****' thread go?
It disappeared.
your never going to see it. i doubt anyone can view the forbidden zone except for mod's or admins.

Last time I saw that happen the person was removed from the staff and/or banned out right.
If you intend to live up to your word then I suggest stepping down now. Any less just confirms your corruption.

I feel given the context, it is an appropriate indiscretion. I'm not sure anyone would have taken my word at face value here without a direct quote.
I've already asked the staff to review the context & let me know what the deem is an appropriate action (in line with what the C0C asks in these cases).

Updates on staff decisions regarding this matter, if there are any, would be appreciated.
1. As a retired administrator, urzassedatives has access to the "mod chat" subforum, where the thread in question was.
