01 Feyd_Ruin :: Fuller Morrin Lacken Farr = Flackerrunen-Falle Mirror Runeflare Trap / Panoptic Mirror Conceptually it loses to anything that can empty their hand for a win by 27th turn, and ties the rest who can just dump their hand. Unfortunately, I suffered heavily from the ties-a-lot effect.
02 Draco9 :: My Braids are on Fire!* Jötun Grunt / Braid of Fire Jotun Grunt is just awesome, as is using the land rule to your advantage. Braid of Fire was random. I see no point in it - it'd best to just make it a useless card that's impossible to cast like Evermind or a land. This would have fostered a couple more wins. You need 30 cards in your GY to win, 5 undiscarded draws, 2 to play lands, and so thats cast 37th turn; win 42nd. That's still a little fast for backbuild beats, but very creative.
03 Error1 :: civilized war zone* Contested War Zone / Civilized Scholar This is a very nice take on Contested War Zone. I don't think their's a worse creature than scholar for the war zone build. It was also nice that the war zone was a land, meaning you were always stuck with a card in hand.
04 VikingMetal4L :: 1 Life to Lose Near-Death Experience / Dawn of the Dead I really liked your original lich deck, and it had a higher score than this at the time you switched out. I'm not a fan of NDE, but it didn't do poorly. Tied a lot this round.
05 Shogun17 :: Unusual Suspicions Dark Suspicions / Forest I love that I wasn't the only one to explore the fact that the test deck always had cards in hand, while the normal opponent should get rid of them. There ended up being a few of them, but yours was the first one submitted. It's the main reason I wanted to do another backbuild round, so that aspect could be explored. Suspicions was one of the strongest "cards in hand" finishes.
06 Tane :: Taneful Omen* Sensei's Divining Top / Baneful Omen The beauty was that in order to win, you had to make yourself draw cards. That meant a lot this round. I missed it at first, but when I caught it, it made a huge difference. It was a very nice draw back to the "1 damage per turn" backbuild style.
07 XScorpion :: A Farmer's Endurance Test of Endurance / Farmstead Running life gain is rarely a good idea in backbuild. Ties, at best, with all the 1/1 makers out there. I will say it's one of the better Test of Endurance decks though. I think Test's would best be served with some sort of "each player gains 1 life" effect, to stop the suicidals. Sheltered Valley would have been epic this round, garnering you quite a few wins.
08 Antonia :: Unappareled Naked Singularity / Broodstar A nice take on broodstar. Upkeep decks can always do well. Wins on 60th, which is decent for a 2 card backbuild.
09 WhammWhamme :: Whamm, the Uncaged Misers' Cage / Ancestral Recall Similiar to the Dark Suspicion's deck, you couldn't win if your opponent had even 1 card stuck in hand. The exactness of Recall/Cage was very nice, and performed well.
10 Reyemile :: Repeated Repeat Runeflare Trap / Reiterate We had the same concept, but with a key difference. Your kill was much much slower, but you were able to kill anyone. Your problem was that on 117th turn, your opponent "draws" a land, and you're able to Runeflare them 20 times at the end of their draw step. So against the slow upkeep or Jotun guys, you won if they built up mana, or if they played out their hand to get rid of the cards.
11 LSK :: Sleeper Agent Decks Rock Sleeper Agent / Righteous Cause I love sleeper agent, but unfortunately this stopped all 1/1s in a suicide deck and gave a fairly quick backbuild clock. I do love seeing the Agent though.
12 Masclins :: Swamps Rock Forsaken Wastes / Swamp Forsaken Wastes is almost as nice as Copper Tablet, except for the denial of life gain. The card that helped you out the most, ironically, is actually the swamp. It forced you to keep a card in hand, which was very important this round. I'm not sure if you won yet, but this was a very strong finish, especially since I think this is the first time I've seen you play. If not, it's been a while.
13 Knoboddi :: Stairway to Hell Tombstone Stairwell / Shield Sphere Making your kill dependant upon drawing out cards to discard worked well this round, as well as not being able to win against creatures. However, a 27th turn kill is fast in backbuild if neither of those options win it for you. If there had been more creature decks, you would have done much better.
14 Personman :: Backbuild LD! Territorial Dispute / Blood Oath Your first deck was truly awesome, and I won't mention what it was so that you can play it during a normal backbuild round. This deck was great in not killing the opponent, but otherwise suffered from ties-a-lot syndrome. I'm not sure if World Purge would have been better. If only there was a "Draws 5" spell.
15 Thundersnow :: I thought of a deck name, but then I had to rethink Cognivore / Rethink Rethink was an interesting choice in that it could slow you down without actually ever stopping the opponent, unfortunately, it did slow the opponent down a few times enough for cognivore to win. If you had gone with Evermind this round, using the alt-draws to discard it, you would have faired better given the meta.
16 psly4mne :: My Life Flashed Before My Zombie Eyes Near-Death Experience / Dawn of the Dead This round had a lot of pingers, which made you tie a lot.
17 DragonDart :: Going Medieval On You Ancestral Vision / Iron Maiden The iron maiden-esque decks all did well this round. I got Iron Maiden wrong at first, which is odd since I thought it was weird it didn't mimic Black Vise when it actually did. I guess I'll randomly blame sleep deprivation.
18 Heart of Draco :: Romero's Dawn of the Nearly Dead Dawn of the Dead / Near-Death Experience This deck is very hit and miss. It ties 1/1s and such, which are usually common.
19 Parsley :: An Agent of Artifice Sleeper Agent / Elixir of Vitality Recursion and life gain in backbuild generally aren't the best - but it has sleeper agent in it, so you get mad props from me.
20 Mogg :: The Last-Minute Snipe Forsaken Wastes / Swamp A last minute deck change made a huge difference. I didn't calculate your first deck, but I'd randomly guess it'd been average, where as Wastes was very strong this round.
21 fnord :: Commander Backbuild! Dark Suspicions / Command Tower Suspicions is awesome, and the tower was comical.
22 Catmurderer :: The Man in the Mirror Gaze of Adamaro / Panoptic Mirror Hey.. the last deck is the first deck. The beginning is the end is the beginning
Completely Normal Round
Next week (and the week after) is a normal round week, so that we may explore the full impact of the newly expanded banned list. The land rule is back to normal. We can discuss using the alt-rule permanently, but for now it's back to normal.

Basic 2CB Rules
0. Overview
Two Card Blind (2CB) is a weekly Magic tournament, run entirely within this forum. To compete, players submit two-card decks which are played against each other. Scoring assumes optimal play, without randomness or concealed information.
1. Game Rules
1.1. Except for the changes described in these rules, games follow the rules of Magic.
1.2. Players' decks contain exactly two cards, which begin the game in hand. Players do not mulligan or sideboard.
1.3. Players' libraries begin the game empty. A player does not lose the game as a result of being unable to draw a card.
1.4. Each player owns an infinite supply of Basic Lands of each type outside the game. These may be played as if they were in his or her hand.
1.4b. You may play only one land from your hand in addition to only one land from outside the game during your turn; however, continuous effects may increase these numbers (if a card states that you may play an additional land this turn, you may play one from your hand, one from outside the game and one from either your hand or outside the game).
1.4b'. Playing lands from your hand will make you a better person. Officially.
1.5. A random effect produces the result that least benefits the owner of the source of the effect.
1.6. Each player plays two games (one match) against each other player.
1.6a. Each player is the starting player once per match.
1.6b. If no player can win, the game is a draw.
1.6c. Games are played with perfect information.
1.6d. Games are played optimally; players attempt to win, draw, or extend the game – in that order.
2. Tournament Rules
2.1. Players submit their decks to the 2CB moderator.
2.1a. A player may submit multiple decks, but only the most recent deck is counted.
2.1b. An illegal deck is not counted. The removal of an illegal deck does not affect deck distribution (see Rule 2.4).
2.1b'. If an illegal deck is submitted, the deck may be editted at the moderator's discretion (i.e.: If a deck is submitted with a banned card, but can still be considered a legal deck--such as being able to win against a goldfish deck--without that card, the deck may still be included, but without the offending card).
2.1c. The moderator determines the result of each match. Players may challenge results, but not after the results of the first round belonging to a new month have been posted (see Rule 2.5a).
2.1d. A player may name his or her deck. If a player does not, the moderator may name it.
2.2. Decks are subject to some restrictions.
2.2a. A player may not submit a deck that can – against any deck – force any card in an opponent's hand to change zones or Win the Game before an opponent's second turn.
2.2b. A player may not submit a deck that can't win both games of a match against at least one deck satisfying 2.2a and 2.2c.
2.2c. A deck may include any number of any card legal in Vintage (Type 1), with the exception of the following banned cards:
2.2d. A deck may include any number of any card that will become legal in Vintage upon release of a set that has been revealed fully and officially since the start of the round.
2.3. Points determine tournament standings.
2.3a. Players are ranked – first to last – in order of decreasing number of points.
2.3b. For each match, a player earns 3 points per game win and 1 point per drawn game. However, a player earns only 2 points for a split match (one win, one loss).
2.3c. A table of match results is posted each round. Its rows represent players and its columns represent opponents. Match results reflect the combined result of both games played in a match; 6 is a match win, 2 a drawn or split game, and 1 or 4 a draw/loss or draw/win respectively. A player's points are listed at the end of his or her row.
2.5. The player with the most PotM points over the course of a month is the Player of the Month.
2.5a. A month includes all rounds for which decks are due during that month.
2.5b. Each round, each player receives PotM points equal to their average match result for that round, rounded down to 1 decimal place. For example, a player scoring 6-6-6-6-X-0-0-0 in a round with 8 decks receives 3.4 points (24/7).
2.5c. Each week, .5 PotM points will be given to the deck deemed most creative and original.
2.5d. Each week, after the grid is posted, the first player to able to post a deck that can successfully go 6-0 over every deck in the grid will also receive 1 PotM point.

This should be a little more simpler than the Morph special week I suggested before :sweat:.

17 DragonDart :: Going Medieval On You Ancestral Vision / Iron Maiden
[size=-1]The iron maiden-esque decks all did well this round. I think the only thing that did you an injustice was that you gave the opponent 3 cards instead of two, which means they had to be able to cast both of their cards to not lose, which was an autowin against those packing a land. Vision Skeins would have been grand this round, cutting this and giving you cards.[/size
For an Iron Maiden (or Pauper's Cage) to deal damage, the opponent basically can't have spells in their deck. A deck with one spell and one land will have four cards during the upkeep (2 - 1 + 3), only going up to five during the draw step.

the winner's race is currently within 2 points from a 4 way tie (!!), so it's still up for grabs, especially with any score changes that might be forthcoming.
the highest scorer might barely break a 4 point average, so it was a very balanced round.
I should draw against #4, #16 and #18 instead of losing. When the other deck goes first, my zombie token attacks him when he's at 2 and my deck wins. But when my deck goes first, the zombie token hits him from 3 to 1, and he wins during his upkeep.
Repeated decks will be grouped together. If two decks are the same in form & function, minus small unimportant changes, such as Me & Catmurderer, they'll still be grouped together. If a group wins, the points will be divided up equally among them. Generally, if your deck was repeated, it wasn't uber creative - although sometimes genius thinks a like, so it is an option to vote for. I see no reason to disallow multiple voting. We're often torn, and I think it'll help show a trend in "this person's deck was creative." try to vote for 2-3. [/ramble]

I think fnord and Shogun's poll entries need to be separate. My vote is for fnord, for Command Tower.
I guess it's a good thing the poll is for creativity and not efficiency. I had thought about including a uselessland instead of Forest, but I figured on the remote possibility that there was something that might take advantage of a non-basic land, I'd just go with a basic since we can all produce those anyway. I guess the 0.005% edge may have cost me in the creativity department.

How about banning all Morph and Flip cards, and cards that already have Transform?

I had thought about including a useless land instead of Forest, but I figured on the remote possibility that there was something that might take advantage of a non-basic land, I'd just go with a basic since we can all produce those anyway. I guess the 0.005% edge may have cost me in the creativity department.
