This thread is a repository for all XCB information that is not round-specific. It is here to be a central location for moderator's information and tools.
This is a Microsoft Excel Spreadsheet that makes creating, updating, and formatting the entire round's post easier. It also calculates the Grid, POTM points, rankings, etc. Currently, it is limited to a 20 player pool.
Use:
In order to use the spreadsheet, you need an appropriate program, such as Microsoft Excel. You must also enable macros for it's functionality to work.
To enable macros:
In Older Versions of Microsoft Excel: Tools -> Options -> Security Tab -> Macro Security -> Select Medium or Low
In Newer Versions of Microsoft Excel: When you open the file, click the [Options] button on the "Security Warning." Select "Enable this Content" and hit OK.
There are four sheets within the spreadsheet file. The first, "Players", is for listing a player's name, deck title, cards, and any comments. The second, "Grid", is for creating and updating the player's scores and matches. The third, "Export", is the sheet where you can select what you want the spreadsheet to create for you to post with. The final, "Advanced", is there to customize the output of your XCB.
Players
Before you begin, select the appropriate card count for your XCB. IE: 5CB will select 5. This will automatically update the player's table to reflect the number of cards. It is also necessary for the export features to properly function.
As people enter the round, simply list their names, any deck titles, and cards. If you wish to comment on a players deck, do so on the far right. Don't mind if your comment exceeds the width of the comment column - it won't hurt anything and is completely acceptable.
Grid
After a couple of entries, you can start calculating the matches and updating the grid. If you get more players later, it's fine - most moderators calculate as the week goes on, so that they don't have to do all of the calculations at once. If you add more players later, their names will automatically propagate to the Grid sheet.
The main bulk of this sheet is the "Grid" which lists the Wins/Losses/Ties points for each player's matchup. On the left is the player's name. On the right is the total number of points that player has earned, and his POTM point. To the right of that is a Win / Loss / Tie grid. It is there purely for informational purposes, as well as your own error-checking needs. To the right of that is the POTM ranking, which will only update when you export (explained later), or when you hit the "POTM" button.
As you calculate each match's points, update the white cells only. The blue cells will automatically update with the opponent's score, making sure that matches are properly aligned and mirrored. If you prefer to calculate the otherside, you can switch which side is manually entered by hitting the Flip button located directly under the grid.
In order to easily see the players deck when updating the grid, there is a hover-deck included with each player's name. Simply hover over a player's name, and a "tooltip" will appear showing their deck. If one doesn't appear, or after updating the player's list and cards, simply click the "Refresh" button on the Grid sheet. This will pull the player's decks again, and update the hover-deck.
Most XCBs calculate a 3-3 match split as 2 points. Some, however, do not. To adjust whether or not a split is 2 or 3 points, there is a checkbox located below Points column. Checking this box indicates they are worth 2, unchecked is worth 3. You may toggle this at any time - it will automatically update everything.
Everything below the red line is automatically calculated. Do not manually change anything below this line, or certain export functions will no longer work. At the bottom right, there is an error check to make sure everything is completed and put in properly. No matter your 3-3 split system or what people scored during the round, the Average PotM Points should always equal 3. If at any time it does not, the bottom "OK" will switch to "Error." It is normal to have this while you're updating a player's line, but once you've finished it should always be "OK." If it is not, you have either entered an invalid score, or forgotten to do a match. You should double check your grid.
Export
The final page is where you update your XCB info, round info, etc, as well as select the options of what you wish to export for your weekly post. The info on the left should be self-explanatory for the most part. You may put in [img] code or any other vbulletin codes within any text boxes, just as you would these forums, for your title or descriptions, as desired.
The options on the right, in order:
Export Header: This is the title appearing at the very top of your weekly post. If you use anything other then what is currently standard, you'll want to uncheck this box and edit in your header after your export.
Export Round Format: This is the round number, format, and basic description that you entered on the left.
Export Players and Decks: This is the list of each player, their deck names, list of cards, and any comments you have made within the Player's sheet. All current and past XCBs have used this, and it automatically formats them to what has become the standard.
Export Grid: This is the grid you worked on in the Grid sheet. It is, again, formatted to what has become the standard fixed-width text grid.
Export Results and Winner's List: Selecting this option will have the worksheet automatically calculate the winners for the round. This is very helpful for when you have to update corrections and could possibly change the winner.
Export Weekly POTM & Rankings: This automatically calculates each player's POTM points, their rankings for the round, and puts them in order within a Spoiler.
Export Weekly Statistics: This generates various statistics about the round, such as the number of ties, repeated & unique cards, match and game count, etc. It is never a necessity, but can give fun tidbit facts about the round. This is currently a work in progress, and more features of statistics will be forthcoming.
Export Next Week's Format: This will give the next weeks number, format & description, and entry due date that you entered on the left.
After you have selected the options you desire, simply click the big "Export All.." button. A dialog box will popup for you to select a file name for it to save as. It will not ask you if you're sure want to overwrite an existing file. After you hit save, it will go through and create the entire post that you want, save it as the appropriate text file, and automatically open it for your viewing and copying needs. If you spot an error, you can easily close the text file, fix the error, and resave it.
At the bottom are two more "quick-export" buttons. They are there as an easy way to view the player's decks or the grid without any formatting or unnecessary data. The quick deck export is generally used as a quick reference for Grid calculating, if your spreadsheet program won't accept the hover-deck, or if you just prefer to use a text file.
Advanced
The advanced tab allows you to customize the output of the text the spreadsheet generates. There is no need to edit anything in this tab if you like the default style of the XCB post. However, if your forums do not allow all of the vbcode, or you wish to change the way your post looks, this is where you edit it.
Each section is labeled, and all non-generated text is editable.
As you need a good understanding of vbcode to edit these anyways, I will not go into detail on each one.
In future versions, I may make the post more fully editable, so that sections can be moved, etc.
Restrictions:
In order for all of the functionality to work, you can not add or remove any rows. Additionally, do not edit any information below any red line. Manually editing a blue cell's score, any points total, or potm score, will cause it's automatic functionality to stop working. Remember to only edit the appropriate sections.
Should your grid stop working, "flip" the grid twice. You will lose any grid work already done, but the grid will automatically correct itself.
Compatibility:
The XCB Spreadsheet is an XLS file created in Microsoft Excel, with backwards compatibility, and compressed within a ZIP archive.
The ZIP Archive should be easily opened by any newer operating system without the need of an additional program. Older OSs can use Win-Rar (Free Archive Program).
The XLS file can be opened with Microsoft Excel 97+. Prior versions of Microsoft Excel will need the Compatibility Pack.
It is, of this posting, at least partially usable with Open Office (Free Office Program). Only the export functions are unsupported. A future version that is completely compatible with Open Office is planned, but currently not underway.
Two Card Blind (2CB) is a weekly Magic tournament, run entirely within this forum. To compete, players submit two-card decks which are played against each other. Scoring assumes optimal play, without randomness or concealed information.
Unlike normal Magic, 2CB uses a "land rule" to allow players to cast their spells; players have access to basic lands of their choice to play each turn, and each player may play an additional land each turn from his or her hand.
1. Game Rules
1.1. Except for the changes described in these rules, games follow the rules for a normal game of Magic.
1.2. Players' decks contain exactly two cards, which begin the game in hand. Players do not mulligan or sideboard.
1.3. Players' libraries begin the game empty. A player does not lose the game as a result of being unable to draw a card.
1.4. Each player owns an infinite number of basic land cards outside of the game. A player may play one of these lands any time he or she could normally play a land. A player may play one additional land each turn from his or her hand.
1.5. Spells can't be countered by other spells or abilities until each player has completed at least 2 full turns.
1.6. A random effect produces the result that least benefits the owner of the source of the effect.
1.7. Each player plays two games (one match) against each other player.
1.7a. Each player is the starting player once per match.
1.7b. If no player can win, then the game is a draw.
1.7c. Games are played with perfect information.
1.7d. Games are played optimally; players attempt to win, draw, or extend the game – in that order.
2. Tournament Rules
2.1. Players submit their decks to the 2CB moderator.
2.1a. Players submit their decks by private message (pm).
2.1b. A player may submit multiple decks, but only the most recent deck is counted.
2.1c. An illegal deck is not counted. At the moderator’s discretion, an illegal deck may be replaced by a similar deck – in which any offending cards have been removed or replaced.
2.1d. The moderator determines the result of each match. Players may challenge results, but not after the results of the first round belonging to a new month have been posted (see Rule 2.4a).
2.1e. A player may name his or her deck. If a player does not, then the moderator may name it.
2.2. Decks are subject to some restrictions.
2.2a. A player may not submit a deck that can - against any deck - win the game, or force a card in an opponent's hand to change zones before the end of an opponent's second turn
2.2b. A player may not submit a deck that can't win both games of a match against at least one deck satisfying all rules.
2.2c. A deck may include any number of any card that will become legal in Vintage upon release of a set that has been revealed fully and officially since the start of the round.
2.2d. A deck may include any number of any card legal in Vintage (Type 1).
2.2e. A deck may not include any cards listed on the banned list, which is found below this rules listing.
2.3. Points determine tournament standings.
2.3a. Players are ranked – first to last – in order of decreasing number of points.
2.3b. For each match, a player earns 3 points per game win and 1 point per drawn game. However, a player earns only 2 points for a split match (a win and a loss).
2.3c. The combined result of both games in a match is called a "match result". Possible match results are: 6 – two game wins, 4 – a win and a draw, 3 or 2 or S – a win and a loss, 2 – two draws, and 1 – a draw and a loss.
2.3d. A table of match results is posted each round. Its rows represent players and its columns represent opponents. A player's points are listed at the end of his or her row.
2.4. The player with the most Player of the Month (POTM) points over the course of a month is the Player of the Month.
2.4a. A month includes all rounds for which decks are due during that month.
2.4b. Each round, each player receives POTM points equal to his or her average match result for that round multiplied by 100, rounded to the nearest integer. For example, a player scoring 6-6-6-6-X-0-0-0 in a round with 8 decks receives 340 POTM points (24 / 7 x 100).
2.4c. Each round, 50 POTM points will be awarded to the player who submitted the most creative deck, as determined by the moderator or by poll.
2.4d. Each round, for one week after the submitted decks have been posted, 50 POTM points will be awarded to the first player to post a deck that scores 6 points against each submitted deck.
Five Card Blind (5CB) is a weekly Magic tournament, run entirely within this forum. To compete, players submit five-card decks which are played against each other. Scoring assumes optimal play, without randomness or concealed information.
1. Game Rules
1.1. Except for the changes described in these rules, games follow the rules for a normal game of Magic.
1.2. Players' decks contain exactly five cards, which begin the game in hand. Players do not mulligan or sideboard.
1.3. Players' libraries begin the game empty. A player does not lose the game as a result of being unable to draw a card.
1.4. A random effect produces the result that least benefits the owner of the source of the effect.
1.5. Each player plays two games (one match) against each other player.
1.5a. Each player is the starting player once per match.
1.5b. If no player can win, then the game is a draw.
1.5c. Games are played with perfect information.
1.5d. Games are played optimally; players attempt to win, draw, or extend the game – in that order.
2. Tournament Rules
2.1. Players submit their decks to the 5CB moderator.
The removal of an illegal deck does not affect deck distribution (see Rule 2.4).
2.1d. The moderator determines the result of each match. Players may challenge results, but not after the results of the first round belonging to a new month have been posted (see Rule 2.5a).
2.1e. A player may name his or her deck. If a player does not, then the moderator may name it.
2.2. Decks are subject to some restrictions.
2.2a. A player may not submit a deck that can – against any deck – win the game or force more than one card in an opponent's hand to change zones before an opponent's second turn.
2.2b. A player may not submit a deck that can't win both games of a match against at least one deck satisfying all rules.
2.2c. A deck may include any number of any card legal in Vintage (Type 1).
2.2d. A deck may include any number of any card that will become legal in Vintage upon release of a set that has been revealed fully and officially since the start of the round.
2.2e. A deck may not include any cards on the 5CB Banned List.
2.4. In rounds of twenty or more players, the moderator may choose to divide players randomly into smaller heats.
2.4a. Each heat has n players, where n is the number of players in the round divided by ten, rounded down. For example, twenty-five players are divided into heats of twelve and thirteen.
2.4b. Players compete against other players in their heat.
2.4b. The top four players from each heat are grouped into a final heat. A player's rank and POTM points (See Rule 2.5b) are determined by his or her score in this heat.
2.4d. Tiebreakers for advancement to the final heat are as follows: number of matches in which a player wins both games, number of game wins, points scored against higher-scoring decks. If a tie is unresolved, then the tied decks advance.
2.5. The player with the most Player of the Month (POTM) points over the course of a month is the Player of the Month.
2.5a. A month includes all rounds for which decks are due during that month.
2.5b. Each round, each player receives POTM points equal to his or her average match result for that round multiplied by 100, rounded to the nearest integer. For example, a player scoring 6-6-6-6-X-0-0-0 in a round with 8 decks receives 340 POTM points (24 / 7 x 100).
2.5c. Each round, 50 POTM points may be awarded to the player who submitted the most creative deck, as determined by the moderator or by poll.
2.5d. Each round, for one week after the submitted decks have been posted, 50 POTM points will be awarded to the first player to post a deck that scores 6 points against each submitted deck.
You should probably take off It's a Trap! from that list, since it was difficult to calculate and no one should go through that headache again.
Agreed, and I'm sure dozens more will make it up there. I'm a fan of Two-Face and Bane weeks, though they may need to be renamed to skip over the original flavor intended.
Also:
Feyd is now officially my new hero for this thread.
I'm working on expanding it so that you can put the cards, names, round #, etc, and it generate the entire post (minus resources). That way you have 1 less thing to keep up with. I did it for my 2cb.xls and it's working good. I'll just need to do some reconfiguring so that you can add up to 7 cards, add comments, deck names, this/next round format, etc. So hopefully you won't need any text files or anything else to do the rounds with.
Update:
New Version uploaded.
Still beta, but fully functional.
It can now create everything shown below:
TWO CARD BLIND
This is the results for round 2.12 and the start for round 2.13.
Round 2.12
This round was Land Wars.
You got to decide which land rule you wanted to use.
Next Round will be Broken Lands.
Entries are due Saturday Night at Midnight.
Broken Lands
In addition to your regular submission, select any Vintage-Legal land. During your matches, instead of choosing a basic land from outside of the game to play, you will instead always choose this land to play.

If you find any bugs at all, holler at me.
Try it out
Edit: New update again.
Bug fixes, a few new features.
Also, an updated "how to use" tutorial is above.
Edit2:
Added a lot of previously-run special round formats.
Another Tools update.
Fixed & Expanded Statistics a bit.
A couple of random typos and bug fixes.
This'll be my last update for a while, minus any bugs people find.

Broken Lands
In addition to your regular submission, select any Vintage-Legal land. During your matches, instead of choosing a basic land from outside of the game to play, you will instead always choose this land to play.
Can you separate the Special Format into categories? Like "Added Feature", "Restriction", and "Alternative Playstyle"?
"Added Feature": Special format that gives you extra options, but otherwise everything else proceeds as normal. For example: Commonality, Forked Week, Mana Market
"Restriction": Limits the kinds of cards you can put in your deck. For example: Banathon, Mix and Match
"Alternative Playstyle": Special format that alters the approach in playing the game without being as straightforward as the other two categories.
For example: Last Stand, Vanguard Week

Some of them may be hard to categorize.
Perhaps make lists of special format categories.
Each category list just links down to the format below.
Then we don't have to worry about one being left out, but it's still organized for quick reference?

Forthcoming changes for xcb-tools:
10
Descriptions can now have multiple paragraphs.
10
Weekly PoTM now formats .0s correctly (4.0 v 4)
10
Option to auto-add "Resources" footer (for rules, etc)
Forget the category idea. I don't know what I was thinking then.
Can we get the current rules for each of the Card Blinds up here (minus the ban list), or a general rules that all card blinds mostly obeys?
Definitely. Maybe make a whole "history of" and info post.
All of the past XCBs.
I know us mods have gotten lackadaisical as far as updating the list of all past rounds. But if there was one spot that had all of them, made it all formatted uniformly, etc, it'd make it concise and accessible.
Each one would then have "most recent rules" as well as past rules, et. al.
Perhaps even a list of past moderators, etc.
As soon as I get some real free time.
Still need to finish the special formats as well.
I'd guess I've got a little over half listed thus far.
I know 3CB had many unique ones.
Descriptions can now have multiple paragraphs.
Weekly PoTM now formats .0s correctly (4.0 v 4)
Option to auto-add "Resources" footer (for rules, etc)
Some minor formatting and bug fixes.
"Advanced" tab to have more control over output.
Some things I've probably forgotten about >_<
Not sure if I should be posting this here... but I was thinking of making a self-running 1CB game.
SELF RUNNING 1CB
1. After a card is used by someone, that card is put into the master-ban list. (Moderator of the game keeps it current in order to allow for a quick search to see if something has been used.)
2. In order to post a card, the posted card must beat the above card on play and draw.
3. Land drops are followed under the same rules as 2CB.
*There is not a ban on early discard or counter-spells in this format*
4. You "win" if you submit an unbeatable card.
Cards to Watch (Possible Perma-B& List):
Red Sun Zenith
Student of Warfare
Example:
Post 1 -
Card : Student of Warfare
Post 2 -
Card : White Sun's Zenith
(Note, Gate Keeper of Malakir would not work in this situation because Student of Warfare would remain in the player's hand and force a draw.)
Post 3 -
Card : Mesmeric Fiend
(Note Cabal Therapy would not work because it cannot kill the opposing player.)
Handles up to 40 players, allows you to see the decks on the grid sheet.
Collapse/expand player size.
Hide/show decks.
Location markers, so if you go anywhere in the grid, you can see which two player's control that grid space.
bug fixes in export.
more I can't remember atm.
If you use, or plan to use XCB Tool, download and check it out.
Edit: and re-up'd again.
Finally found the potm formatting error.
"Each player owns an infinite number of basic lands, of each basic land type, outside of the game. Players may play these land cards from outside of the game."
You also own an infinite number of the snow-covered basic lands, such as Snow-Covered Plains.
You play these lands from outside of the game just like you would play them if they were in your hand.
You can only play these when you could normally play a land.
An Exploration or similar effect will allow you to play multiple lands from outside of the game each turn.
Expanded Land Rule
Rule Text:
"Each player owns an infinite number of basic lands, of each basic land type, outside of the game. Players may play these land cards from outside of the game."
"Players may play an additional land each turn, if that land is played from their hand."
Explanations and Examples:
This is exactly like the basic land rule above, except for the additional land play.
It follows all of the above rules and clarifications, and expands upon it with its additional play rule.
You may play your additional land from your hand before or after you play a land from outside of the game. You are not restricted to either way.
You may play two lands from your hand in a single turn, one from a normal play and one from the additional play.
This would count as both of your land plays for the turn, and you would not normally be allowed to play another, even from outside the game.
This post contains rules, banned lists, important cards, and links to articles and discussions. The next two posts contain information about special formats and custom objects used with those formats. The following two posts contain information about finished rounds.
Overview
X Card Blind (XCB) is a weekly Magic tournament, run entirely within this forum. To compete, entrants submit decks containing X cards which are played against each other. Scoring assumes optimal play, without randomness or concealed information.
Deck Construction Rules
1. A deck must contain exactly X cards.
2. A deck may contain any number of copies of any Vintage-legal card, but can't contain any cards on the XCB Banned List.
3. A player's deck must not enable that player to win the game before each player has completed a specified number of turns.
4. A player's deck must not enable that player to force an opponent to lose more than a specified number of cards in his or her hand before each player has completed a specified number of turns.
5. A player's deck must enable that player to win the game.
Deck Submission Rules
6. An entrant submits his or her deck to the XCB moderator by private message (pm).
Playing the Decks
7. Entrants don't actually play their decks, because game results can be determined theoretically.
8. Each player starts the game with the cards in his or her deck in his or her hand.
9. A player doesn't lose the game as a result of being unable to draw a card.
10. A random effect resolves in favor of the opponent of the owner of that effect.
11. Players know all information that would normally be concealed from them.
12. Each player plays one two-game match against each other player, and each player is the starting player once per match.
Points
13. The entrant with the most points is the winner. For each match, an entrant earns 3 points per game win and 1 point per drawn game. However, an entrant earns only 2 points for a split match (each player wins a game).
Extra Rules
14. Some optional rules may be used; see Optional Rules.
15. The Basic Rules don't cover every issue. For in-depth rules, see Comprehensive Rules.
Land Rule
Any player may play a basic land of his or her choice from outside the game any time he or she could normally play a land.
Expanded Land Rule
Any player may play a basic land of his or her choice from outside the game any time he or she could normally play a land. Any player may play an additional land on each of his or her turns from his or her hand.
Alternative Land Rule
If a player would draw a card from an empty library, that player puts a basic land card of his or her choice from outside the game into his or her hand instead. The starting player doesn't skip the draw step of his or her first turn.
Sanctioned Magic Format
A deck may contain only cards contained in sets legal in the specified format.
Counter Rule
Until each player has completed two turns, each player ignores any part of an effect of a source an opponent owns that would counter a spell that player controls.
Life Rule
If neither player would win otherwise, then the player who maintains the higher life total wins the game. Determine whether a deck enables the player of that deck to win the game as though this rule didn't exist.
Special Format
Other rules are specified.
Game Rules
1.1. There are many versions of XCB. Each version has a name, of the form 'ABT' XCB 'Land Rule' 'Sanctioned Magic Format' 'Special Format' '(Bonus)' 'Counter Rule' 'Life Rule'.
1.1a. 'ABT' can be ABT or nothing. ABT indicates that a round (see Rule 2.1a) is part of an All-Blind Tournament (see Rule 2.6a).
1.1b. X is a number.
1.1c. 'Land Rule' can be LR, ELR, ALR, or nothing. LR indicates that the basic land rule is in effect, ELR indicates that the expanded land rule is in effect, and ALR indicates that the alternative land rule is in effect (see Rule 1.7).
1.1d. 'Sanctioned Magic Format' can be the name of a sanctioned Magic constructed format or nothing. The name of a format indicates that only cards contained in sets legal in that format may be submitted. This is an exception to rule 2.3c.
1.1e. 'Special Format' can be the name of at least one special format or nothing. The name of a special format indicates that the special format in effect (see Rule 1.8).
1.1f. 'Bonus' can be (Bonus) or nothing. (Bonus) modifies the preceding special format, indicating that an entrant must not follow the rules of that format, but that entrant will earn a specified number of bonus points if he or she does (see Rule 2.4f).
1.1g. 'Counter Rule' can be C or nothing. C indicates that the counter rule is in effect (see Rule 1.9).
1.1h. 'Life Rule' can be LF, AL, or nothing. LF indicates that the life rule is in effect and AL indicates that the alternative life rule is in effect (see Rule 1.10).
1.2. Decks are not played, but are scored as though they were. The player of a deck is the entrant who submitted that deck.
1.3. Except for the changes described in these rules, games follow the rules for a normal game of Magic.
1.3a. Ignore any part of an instruction that isn't covered by these rules or the rules of Magic.
1.3b. Rules that would take effect during the prerelease for a set take effect during the first round for which cards from that set may be submitted instead (see Rule 2.3d).
1.4. An entrant's deck contains exactly X cards (see Rule 1.1).
1.4a. A player's opening hand contains the cards in his or her deck.
1.4b. Players don't draw hands or mulligan.
1.4c. Players don't have sideboards.
1.5. Players' libraries begin the game empty.
1.5a. A player doesn't lose the game as a result of being unable to draw a card.
1.6. A cost or effect that would produce a random result produces the result that least benefits the player who paid the cost or the owner of the source of the effect instead.
1.7. Some versions of XCB use a land rule.
1.7a. This is the basic land rule (LR). Any player may play a basic land or basic snow land of the subtype of his or her choice from outside the game any time he or she could normally play a land.
1.7b. This is the expanded land rule (ELR). Any player may play a basic land or basic snow land of the subtype of his or her choice from outside the game any time he or she could normally play a land. Any player may play an additional land on each of his or her turns from his or her hand.
1.7c. This is the alternative land rule (ALR). If a player would draw a card from an empty library, that player puts a basic land or basic snow land card of the subtype of his or her choice from outside the game into his or her hand instead. The starting player doesn't skip the draw step of his or her first turn.
1.8. Some versions of XCB use a special format. A special format is an extra set of rules. These rules overwrite any other applicable rules. A non-comprehensive list of special formats is maintained here.
1.8a. Some special formats cause an emblem to be put into the command zone. Abilities of those emblems can't be countered by spells or abilities, except as modified by a special format.
1.8b. Some special formats cause players to draw hands. The drawn cards become part of that player's opening hand.
1.8c. Some special formats generate continuous effects. Continuous effects generated by special formats are applied in the order those formats are listed in the XCB version name, before any other effects that could be applied in a layer.
1.8d. Some special formats require an entrant to make some number of decisions in addition to or instead of submitting a deck. An entrant's submission is that entrant's deck and any decisions that entrant makes. An entrant's submission must not violate rule 2.3 if all instances of the word 'deck' in that rule are replaced with 'submission'.
1.8e. Some special formats require entrants to make decisions "before the start of each game". For these decisions, follow the "Active Player, Nonactive Player order" rule, replacing "active player" with "starting player".
1.8f. Some special formats refer to decks that obtain or could obtain results. Saying that a deck obtains or could obtain a result means that the player of that deck obtains or could obtain that result in a game or match against another player (see Rule 1.11). If a deck obtains or could obtain a result against another deck, then the player of that deck obtains or could obtain that result against the player of the other deck.
1.9. Some versions of XCB use the counter rule.
1.9a. This is the counter rule (C). Until each player has completed two turns, each player ignores any part of an effect of a source an opponent owns that would counter a spell that player controls.
1.10. Some versions of XCB use a life rule.
1.10a. This is the life rule (LF). If neither player would win otherwise, then the player who maintains the higher life total wins the game. Determine whether a deck enables the player of that deck to win a match as though this rule didn't exist (see Rule 2.3b).
1.10b. This is the alternative life rule (AL). If neither player would win otherwise, then the player who maintains the higher life total wins the game.
1.11. Each player plays one match against each other player.
1.11a. Each match has two games.
1.11b. Each player is the starting player for one game in each match.
1.11c. Games are played with perfect information; players know the identities of face-down cards and cards in hidden zones, and players know which decisions have been made by other players.
1.11d. Games are played optimally. The best outcome for a player is to win the game and the worst outcome is to lose the game.
1.11e. If a loop containing at least one optional action would be repeated indefinitely during a turn, then any player may propose a number of times for that loop to repeat instead. If a player does, then each other player may propose a different number and the loop is repeated for the greatest number of times proposed instead. No player is required to make a choice that would end a loop that crosses multiple turns.
1.11f. If a game would continue indefinitely, then the game is a draw.
Tournament Rules
2.1. Entrants compete in a competition.
2.1a. The shortest type of competition is a round. Typically, each round lasts one week.
2.1b. A competition that consists of multiple rounds is a tournament.
2.2. An entrant submits his or her deck to the XCB moderator.
2.2a. An entrant submits his or her deck by private message (pm).
2.2b. An entrant may submit multiple decks, but only the most recently submitted deck is counted.
2.2c. An illegal deck is not counted. At the moderator's discretion, an illegal deck may be replaced by a similar deck – in which any cards causing that deck to be illegal have been removed or replaced. The removal of an illegal deck doesn't affect deck distribution (see Rule 2.5).
2.2d. The moderator determines the result of each match. Entrants may challenge results, but not after the results of the first round of a new tournament have been posted (see Rule 2.6), except at the moderator's discretion.
2.2e. An entrant may name his or her deck. If an entrant doesn't, then the moderator may name it.
2.3. Decks are subject to some restrictions.
2.3a. An entrant may not submit a deck that could enable the player of that deck to win the game or force more than a specified number of cards in an opponent's hand to change zones before a specified turn or until each player has completed a specified number of turns. A card is forced to change zones if the owner of that card could make no sequence of decisions that would not result in either that card changing zones or that player losing the game before the specified turn. By default, an entrant may not submit a deck that could enable the player of that deck to cause either result to occur before an opponent's second turn. Ignore this rule in the following cases:
i. All cards in an opponent's hand in excess of the specified number of cards that would be forced to change zones would not be cast by that opponent and would enter the battlefield under that opponent's control. For example, a 4CB deck with two copies of Black Lotus could contain Stronghold Gambit but could not contain Wild Evocation.
ii. All cards in an opponent's hand in excess of the specified number of cards that weren't there as a result of a cost or effect that opponent controlled that would be forced to change zones during the resolution of a spell or ability would be in that opponent's hand after that spell or ability resolved. For example, a 3CB deck could contain Timetwister and Black Lotus but an 8CB deck could not.
iii. All cards in excess of the specified number of cards in an opponent's hand would be forced to change zones only if cards in that opponent's hand that started outside the game would cause that opponent's maximum hand size at the start of the game to be exceeded. For example, a 3CB LR deck could contain two copies of Ancestral Recall.
iv. The rule would be violated only in a game that existed as a result of an effect that resolved not before the specified turn or until each player had completed the specified number of turns that restarted the game or created a subgame. For example, a 2CB LR deck could contain Karn Liberated.
v. The rule wouldn't be violated if opponents' cards had no rules text. For example, a 2CB deck could contain Plains and Eager Cadet if a special format read "Each player gets an emblem with 'You control your opponents during your turn'" and an opponent's deck could contain Dryad Arbor and Pact of Negation.
2.3b. An entrant may not submit a deck that wouldn't enable the player of that deck to win a match (see Rule 2.4d) against the player of at least one deck satisfying all rules.
2.3c. A deck may contain any number of copies of any card legal in Vintage (Type 1). Except as modified by a special format, all cards used in a game must be legal in Vintage.
2.3d. A deck may contain any number of copies of any card that will become legal in Vintage upon release of a set that's been revealed fully and officially since the start of the round.
2.3e. A deck may not contain any cards on the XCB Banned List (see Rule 1.1b), unless that deck it is part of an All-Blind Tournament.
2.3f. A deck that is part of an All-Blind Tournament may not contain any cards on the ABT Banned List.
2.4. Points determine round standings.
2.4a. Entrants are ranked – first to last – in order of decreasing number of points.
2.4b. For each match, an entrant earns 3 points per game win and 1 point per drawn game.
2.4c. The combined result of both games in a match is called a match result. Possible match results are: 6 – two wins, 4 – a win and a draw, 3 or 2 or S – a win and a loss, 2 – two draws, 1 – a draw and a loss, and 0 – two losses.
2.4d. Some match results are also denoted by names: two wins – match win, a win and a loss – split match, two draws – draw, and two losses – match loss. An entrant wins the match if he or she wins both games, splits the match if he or she wins a game and loses a game, draws a match if he or she draws both games, and loses the match if he or she loses both games.
2.4e. An entrant earns only 2 points for a split match. This is an exception to rule 2.4b.
2.4f. An entrant may earn a number of bonus points defined by a special format. An entrant earns these points in addition to any other points.
2.4g. A table of match results is posted at the end of each round. Its rows represent entrants and its columns represent those entrants' opponents. An entrant's total number of points is listed at the end of his or her row.
2.5. In rounds of twenty or more entrants, the moderator may choose to divide entrants randomly into smaller heats.
2.5a. There are n heats, where n is the number of entrants in the round divided by ten, rounded down. Entrants are divided into these heats as evenly as possible. For example, twenty-five entrants are divided into heats of twelve and thirteen entrants.
2.5b. An entrant competes against other entrants in his or her heat.
2.5c. The top four ranked entrants from each heat are grouped into a final heat. An entrant's rank and tournament points (See Rule 2.6d) are determined by his or her match results in this heat.
2.5d. Tiebreakers for advancement to the final heat are as follows: number of match wins, number of game wins, points scored against higher-scoring decks. If a tie is unresolved, then the tied decks advance.
2.6. There are two types of tournaments.
2.6a. The All-Blind Tournament (ABT) is a four-round tournament.
2.6b. The Player of the Month tournament (POTM) is a month-long tournament. A month contains all rounds for which deck submissions are due during that month.
2.6c. The entrant with the most tournament points (see Rule 2.6d) over the course of a tournament is the tournament winner. The winner of the Player of the Month tournament is the Player of the Month.
2.6d. Each round, an entrant receives tournament points equal to his or her average match result for that round multiplied by 100, rounded to the nearest integer or some number of decimal places chosen at the moderator's discretion. For example, an entrant scoring 6-6-6-6-X-0-0-0 in a round with 8 entrants receives 340 tournament points ((6 + 6 + 6 + 6) / (8 - 1) x 100).
2.6e. If two or more entrants would win an ABT, then each of those entrants competes in additional rounds specified by the moderator, until only one entrant has the most tournament points. Each additional round contains only the entrants who have the most tournament points. The moderator may specify a limit to the number of additional rounds.
2.6f. Each round, 50 tournament points may be awarded to the entrant who submitted the most creative deck, as determined by the moderator or by poll.
2.6g. Each round, for one week after the submitted decks have been posted, 50 tournament points may be awarded to the first entrant to post a deck that wins the match against each submitted deck.
2.6h. The moderator may issue a challenge. An entrant who completes a challenge earns a number of tournament points specified by the moderator.

This is a subjective and non-comprehensive list of cards that are important in XCB. Each card is placed in a category – mana, win condition, disruption, or utility – according to its primary role. Cards are divided into subcategories according to the costs generally paid for their effects. Cards that are similar to a listed card appear next to that card in parentheses, "( )". Cards that are often used with a listed appear next to that card in brackets, "[ ]". "(LR)" denotes that a card is usually used with a land rule, and "(cyc.)" denotes that a card is part of a cycle of cards. With the following exceptions, cards that are banned in an XCB aren't listed: Balancing Act, Black Lotus, Energy Field, Foil, Form of the Dragon, Glacial Chasm, Mesmeric Fiend, Nezumi Shortfang, Voidstone Gargoyle.
Special format information is given in five sections:
Rules gives the rules of the format. These rules are used in conjunction with the XCB Comprehensive Rules, including any suggested rules. To improve clarity, the rules of some formats have been changed since those formats were last played.
Variants gives the names and additional rules of variants of the format. Some variants are related to a format conceptually, but don't share any rules with that format. Those variants are denoted with an asterisk (*). To improve clarity, the names of some formats have been changed since they were played. Some names have changed significantly; "100 Life (Poison)" was "The Long Road", "60CB Lands 2" was "Landslide", "1 Life" was "Last Stand", "Banathon Plus" was "Originality", "Ban Week Plus" was "Novelty", "Creature Lattice" was "Cost is King", "Endless" was "Epic", "Llanowar Mentor" was "Elvish Champion", "Infinite Lands" was "Broken Lands", "Lotus Vineyard" was "Free Lotus", "Mana Market 19" was "Undazed", "Mana Market 2" was "Poison Mana", "Mana Market 2 (Spells)" was "Phyrexian Mana", "Mindslaver" was "1984", "Niches" was "Created Cards, "Pauper" and "Targeted Offer (Ext. Commons)" were "Commonality", "WUBRG (Tapped) (Safe)/Only CMC > 5" was "Timmy Likes Lands", and "WUBRG Float" was "Subsidized Mana".
Common Names gives the names that are commonly used to reference certain formats.
Specified 'Object' lists any objects that have been specified as part of a format.
Bans lists all cards that have been banned in a format or variant of that format, except where changes to the rules of Magic, XCB, or the format have rendered a ban pointless. With two exceptions (Double Mindslaver, Pseudo-Commander), this list includes only cards that were banned when a format was last played. For clarity, bans may be separated according to the XCB versions they are used with.
Versions lists the XCB versions that have used the format. To conserve space, the full version name is not given unless variants of the format have been combined with various versions or the name of a format contains a quality that must be defined.
Formats and variants that add only inconsequential changes or changes which have since been adopted as regular rules are not listed.
'Block Name' Block
Rules: Only cards contained in the specified block may be submitted.
Variants:
'Block Name' Block (Sets): An entrant submits three decks instead of one. Each deck must contain only cards contained in a set that doesn't contain any cards contained in another deck. An entrant's decks are listed in the order in which the sets containing the cards in those decks are ordered in their blocks, and the ith deck in each list is played against the ith deck in each other list.
Rules: When submitting a deck, an entrant also chooses one of a specified group of cards. Any time a player could cast a sorcery, that player may discard a card. If that player does, he or she puts a copy of his or her chosen card from outside the game onto the battlefield. Each player may discard a card this way only once each game.
Variants:
'Holiday' Super Special*: When submitting a deck, an entrant also chooses one of a specified group of cards. An entrant's deck contains his or her chosen card in addition to any other cards. Rather than pay the mana cost for a spell that is its controller's chosen card, its controller may discard a card. Each player may cast a spell this way only once each game.
Rules: Only cards or no cards (as specified) – and lands cards, unless a land rule is specified – having the specified ability, color, name, rarity, card type, or other characteristic may be submitted. A card has a specified rarity if it was released at that rarity in at least one English-language printed or online set.
Variants:
Only Multicolored (No Repeats): No card in a deck may share all its colors with another card in that deck.
The Times They Are a-Changin': A deck must contain at least two cards that can be flipped or transformed, or have or can cause a card to have Fading, Level Up, Morph, Split Second, Suspend, or Vanishing.

The first chosen card is modified by changing its name to a unique name, changing its mana cost to an amount of colorless mana equal to its converted mana cost, and copying the supertypes, types, subtypes, rules text, power, and toughness of the second chosen card onto that card. The modified card has all colors of the chosen cards. All instances of either chosen card's name on the modified card are changed to the modified card's unique name. One of the chosen cards may not be an aura, a creature, or an equipment if the other chosen card is an aura or an equipment. Neither of the chosen cards may have an ability that causes it to transform.
Rules: Any time a player could cast a sorcery, that player may discard a card from his or her hand. If that player does, he or she puts a copy of Astroturf from outside the game onto the battlefield.

Rules: A deck must contain at least one instant or sorcery card. When submitting a deck, an entrant also chooses an instant or sorcery card in his or her deck and another instant or sorcery card with a different name. The first chosen card is modified by changing its name to a unique name, and by copying the mana cost, supertypes, types, subtypes, and rules text of the second chosen card onto that card. Both halves of a split card are modified. If a split card would be modified by the characteristics of another split card, then each half of the first chosen card is modified by copying onto it the characteristics of the same half of the second chosen card. The modified card is an instant if both chosen cards are instants and a sorcery otherwise. All instances of either chosen card's name on the modified card are changed to the modified card's unique name. The modified card can't be cast for an alternative cost.

Basic 2CB Rules
0. Overview
2. Tournament Rules
2.1. Players submit their decks to the 2CB moderator. 2.2. Decks are subject to some restrictions. 2.3. Points determine tournament standings. 2.4. The player with the most Player of the Month (POTM) points over the course of a month is the Player of the Month.

2. Tournament Rules
2.1. Players submit their decks to the 5CB moderator.
2.2. Decks are subject to some restrictions.
2.3. Points determine tournament standings.
2.4. In rounds of twenty or more players, the moderator may choose to divide players randomly into smaller heats.
2.5. The player with the most Player of the Month (POTM) points over the course of a month is the Player of the Month.

Agreed, and I'm sure dozens more will make it up there. I'm a fan of Two-Face and Bane weeks, though they may need to be renamed to skip over the original flavor intended.
Also:
Feyd is now officially my new hero for this thread.
However...I can't the excel thing to open...
Why? Because otherwise someone ELSE might run that week in future...
It didn't upload right when I updated it.
I reuploaded it as a zip.
Try grabbing that. I tested it. It should work now.

Update:
New Version uploaded.
Still beta, but fully functional.
It can now create everything shown below:
This is the results for round 2.12 and the start for round 2.13.
Round 2.12 Next Round : 2.13 [Resources]
Try it out
Edit: New update again.
Bug fixes, a few new features.
Also, an updated "how to use" tutorial is above.
Edit2:
Added a lot of previously-run special round formats.
No longer staff here.
Fixed & Expanded Statistics a bit.
A couple of random typos and bug fixes.
This'll be my last update for a while, minus any bugs people find.
Generates:

Just need free time, heh.

Several of the winners are 1 row off.
So I'm rebuilding it a different way:

(Note Cabal Therapy would not work because it cannot kill the opposing player.)
...
It's much updated.

Game Rules
1.1. There are many versions of XCB. Each version has a name, of the form 'ABT' XCB 'Land Rule' 'Sanctioned Magic Format' 'Special Format' '(Bonus)' 'Counter Rule' 'Life Rule'.
1.2. Decks are not played, but are scored as though they were. The player of a deck is the entrant who submitted that deck.
1.3. Except for the changes described in these rules, games follow the rules for a normal game of Magic.
1.4. An entrant's deck contains exactly X cards (see Rule 1.1).
1.5. Players' libraries begin the game empty.
1.6. A cost or effect that would produce a random result produces the result that least benefits the player who paid the cost or the owner of the source of the effect instead.
1.7. Some versions of XCB use a land rule.
1.8. Some versions of XCB use a special format. A special format is an extra set of rules. These rules overwrite any other applicable rules. A non-comprehensive list of special formats is maintained here.
1.9. Some versions of XCB use the counter rule.
1.10. Some versions of XCB use a life rule.
1.11. Each player plays one match against each other player.
Tournament Rules
2.1. Entrants compete in a competition.
2.2. An entrant submits his or her deck to the XCB moderator.
2.3. Decks are subject to some restrictions.
2.4. Points determine round standings.
2.5. In rounds of twenty or more entrants, the moderator may choose to divide entrants randomly into smaller heats.
2.6. There are two types of tournaments.
