Quick Info
This is my Mayael commander deck. It's all about having fun. Semi-Budget.
I have a full write up article about budget mayael, which covers most of my card choices and general concept.
Mana Flare
Fun for the whole table - but my threats are bigger.
Cheating the System
Mayael's friends know all the tricks.
Defensive & Protective Titans
These are all defensively-positioned titans. Some offer a direct protective bubble. Others subdue the opponent's plays, protect my board position, or just give a strong rattle-snake vibe.
Removal Titans
Threats to our plan come in many forms. Whether it's something that might outrace our titans, something to hampers our game plan, or a pillow fort that our enemies are sitting behind - being able to remove these hurdles is important. Herein are the titans that have direct or indirect removal.
Aggressive Titans
Titans that kill
Other Titans
Strong titans that don't quite fit into the above.
Aurelia's Fury and Shamanic Revelation have both been on my short list for a while.
Maybe I'm too attached to my titans?
In all honesty.. Norwood Priestess is in there because I at some point picked one up out of a common bin without realizing what it was. When I found her again in my commons pile, it felt like a fated auto-include. If I drop her, which is very plausible, I'd want to also drop the "I also care about your titans being green" Garruk, which frees up all color pressure.
That would make some good sense: cutting all green-focus would allow me more variety and control-oriented titans.
Admonition Angel, Aegis Angel, Celestial Force, and Gisela, Blade of Goldnight are all on the short list of things I want to add, with Decimator of the Provinces, Gaea's Revenge, Godsire, Panglacial Wurm, and Wurmcoil Engine being the cards I've most considered cutting. This also frees up 2 non-titan slots, which are extremely tight, and would allow quite a bit of exploration.
I'm probably going to play around with this concept for a while, see where it goes.
