I have among my many vintage decks, this mostly green Tribal Elves Deck that I wish to get some commentary on. First though, some standard things to say up front about my play style.
1)I prefer to build deck from the philosophy of creating a deck that does its best, to do what it does best, as best as it can. Proactive instead of Reactive. Not building decks based off of what I think I might encounter in other peoples decks for the most part.
2) I am not a big fan of non repeatable spot removal. Swords to Plowshares and the like. When it comes to removal I'm more of a Devout Chaplain kind of guy.
3) I am not a fan of mana rocks. Paying 2 mana to have an artifact that taps for one mana is just not worth a card slot to me. I prefer more broad, helpful, and stronger ramp.
4) In vintage I play proxy decks. My friends and I print our own high res decks on photo paper, cut em, sleeve em etc. buying used cards does not support wizard so instead we play vintage with proxies and buy packs to play in drafts. So irl card cost is of no importance, cuz we're just printing our own.
With all that in mind, I present to you, ELFSPLOSION.
The purpose of this deck is to ramp so hard, so fast, that by turn 4ish you can play a massive version of Genesis Wave or Nemesis Wave (Villainous Wealth). Genesis Wave will essentially put all the permanents in your deck into play. So everything except the other copies of the Waves. Then with the haste from Akroma's Memorial you use Immaculate Magistrate on Joraga Warcaller making all your elves into monsters, and you decimate your opponent. Often dealing thousands of damage in a single attack. It is the very definition of overkill. OR, you can take the other approach and dump all that mana ramp into a massive Nemesis Wave (Villainous Wealth)and play every non land card in your opponents entire deck including non permanents. This deck is a blast to play. It does tend to stumble against control/heavy removal decks because without the initial mana producers (Elvish Archdruid and Priest of Titania) all those untapping cards have nothing to untap. Of course if you can manage to keep them out and you draw one of the Umbral Mantle you have an infinite mana combo, add onto that a planar portal to draw either one of the waves OR draw one of each, then you can literally play your entire deck AND their entire deck in one fell swoop which is the most insane overkill short of an infinite damage combo. I love this deck because with the two waves I finally found a use for the insane mana ramp capabilities of the Elves. Please let me know what you think. Recommendations or commentary, either are appreciated]. Thank you in advance. EMPARAWR
