After reading a particular thread in the rumor mill on 'news, I got to thinking.
What exactly would keep site A from going to site B, taking their rumors and posting them back on site A?
See, this is where I get confused. The news community was distraught because of the possible loss of rumor info. Well, couldn't they go to MT or here or anywhere else and just take what was said, change a few words around and post it there?
edit: and if you look, that's what they've already done. They've already posted something about the new Mogg (spirit).
The ability to steal rumors relies directly on the rumors being available in the first place. With R_E no longer at 'News, there may be fewer rumors to steal.
Also, there's the whole bit of "well, OUR forum found it first!!"
You present a good point ljoss, but the fact is, is that that's been happening since the rumors were at MTGnews. There were sites taking credit for our info, so on the spoiler on the mainpage they added hidden stuff here and there on purpose (for instance Wandering Ones said "Also known as The Goggles, Because They Do Nothing" as its flavor text, instead of its real flavor text).
As R_E said in the Rumor Mill 2, There's no stopping people from taking information posted in a forum and posting it elsewhere, thats part of sharing the information, but under the circumstances, and considering they've got R_E banned, out of respect for him and ourselves let's make sure we're not the ones posting the info there for them.
I suggest that we not even worry about people "stealing our rumors." If they do, it only makes this site look better. If mtgnews wants to take their rumors from us, so be it. IMO we should focus more on getting correct info, spoilers, etc and leave it at that. All I hope for is to maintain or increase the quality of the info we get and continue to stay ahead of the game
i played in a tournament on fridcay. i played affintiy to a sedond place finish. vial lis broken i wonws many games son th3e poever oif it.
Unless i am mistaken Oxidize, V Shaman and E Witness are showing up in just as many decks and warping the metagame as much as Affinity. They should just ban all of Mirrodin block. Onslaught was always the best block ever. I had a U/W Cleric wizard deck that couldnt be beat.
If we snip rumors from the homeland and give credit, I don't see why we shouldn't. If we begin to get steady rumors from Elf and others, 'news will be bound to have more members coming here and perhaps leaving there too. Plus, Salvation may become mainstream there and stop being the brotherhood. We'll gain more members, etc.

Everybody steals rumors. What we need is some third party with significant pull to be able to say "this stuff came form salvation" to silence S_S. I'm thinking of making sure whenever StarCity reports one of our cards, to make sure to say it comes from us. They have a huge user base, and people will believe them over S_S any day.
now... I dont think that the people remained on mtgnews r all evil rumor stealer who dont give credits 2 their source...
I dont understand why people have always 2 say "I'm 1st, u r last" and so on... in the end the most important thing is that all the mtg community gets the rumor...
this is the general problem of our society... 1st come 1st take... I dont like this "philosophy"...

Why do people care who got the rumors as long as they are real? For example, I could say, "MTGnews said there is oging to be a card that makes everything cost 3" and get believed, because MTGnews was believable. I don't care who gets the info, as long as it is real and before the Pre-Rel
