Now who could possibly be offended by a homophobic misogynist? Hopefully one of the mods. :upset:
:tongue2:
I'm not afraid of homosexuals and I certainly don't hate the ladies. Just adding my input on the local players. To be fair, there are also lots of bad male players, it's just that the discussion here was about female players. One guy I know who is a fairly good player has a wife who played magic for a while and she was quite good as well, but that's still the only female magic player I know who I'd consider a competitive player. Posting in purple hurts my eyes and it generally makes people think you are a girl if you are doing it.

Still, regardless of girl magic players or not, we still haven't managed to help get R_E his bikini dancer and groupie yet. I think that's why this thread was started in the first place. After all his work on Spoilering us, he total deserves some Mod appreciation. Hrmmm....now where to find those girls......

Actually I'm inclined to agree BTape about how girls play (not about the derogatory homosexual terms). I've played 2 girls that played as good as guys and all the rest just autopilot like BTape said. So I know they are out there, but they are rare.

I've met several female Magic players. The only problem is they're not very good. Combined with the fact that I get god-hands against bad players, I always end up handing them their asses.
I said girl magic players, not old mountain hags.
Also, on my first date with my ex gf, we played magic and i beat her ass. Course, she was a skank.

Sterling, please do not judge all male gamers by these pinheads' remarks. I have played against female opponents ranging from 'can barely tap a land' to 'smashes my face in', much like I've faced off against male opponents in the same range. There are many factors that determine whether or not a player is good, and gender is not one of them.
Frankly, some of the stupid sexist crap that's being said here is making me embarassed to be a guy.

OUCH
coming from badguy, that's gotta burn.
Many girls are attracted to Magic for its social aspects, artwork, storytelling aspects, and other reasons different from the ones which attract most guys who play. This isn't to say girls don't have strategic or tactical thinking skills, or aren't capable of becoming competitive players, because obviously they can and have, and still do. Many Magic playing girls I know say they prefer the less competitive, more cooperative and social environment of casual play. (I realize I'm making a generalization when I say "most", which means, at least to me, >50%; interpret as you will with that caveat on the table.)
For those of us who are competitive (i.e. prefer sanctioned events and tournament play for its sense of competition, accomplishment, and prizes; does NOT imply "more competent" by any means) we are drawn to it for much the same reasons as most guys who are competitive Magic players. Many of us did get introduced to the game by boyfriends, brothers, and roommates. However, some of us run with the ball, some of us drop it, and some just play casually. FWIW, my friend started playing about 18 months ago, has climbed to a 1750 composite rating, is a very creative, competitive and assertive player who also happens to be a girl.

I'll have to agree with you there... too often times people determine someone's skill through their gender.. my cousin has a mean mean angel deck for multiplayer... which she will usually comes out on top from. But yet throughout the game, no one bothers to try to take her out of the game... then she trumpts them all and everyone starts whining about how she got lucky... :disgust2:

Meh, clear up with the spam you two. If you wanna fight, take it back to misetings, apparently. As for me, I'll have to second being totally embarassed by the sexist guys who believe chicks can't play. You know, this may sound odd, but rather than telling them how bad they suck, offer to help them get better. You'll find that they're actually fairly appreciative of the help, and it's a good way to get to know them. So that way you can get a Magic playing Girlfriend, AND help them to become better so they're not stomped on all the time. Hell, I did it. It works.
