Well, it's more of a phonetic joke than a reality. "Furor Teutonicus," "Furor" sounding as it does and "Teutonicus" meaning what it does, is too much of a coincidence for some people.
I have been accused - whether seriously or trollingly I can't tell - of being a Nazi sympathizer solely on the basis of the name, however.

Here's an excerpt of my bio from one of the retired clan threads...
Quote from Kankennon »
Now Kankennon, on the other hand, was a villain that I created for a D&D game back in ohhhh 1987/1988. He ended up being a very popular recurring baddie that grew in scope, ability and demeanor. What started out as a vanilla undead wizard-lich thing that parents would use to frighten their children with, turned into something far more than I even expected, as I developed an intense back story and fleshed out the character into something much more flavorful (not just vanilla anymore! :D). In 1991, I went to a graphic design school in Tempe, AZ, and I had oodles and oodles of free time. I spent even more time developing my fantasy world, and made it a point to connect as many of my class art projects into things that I could use for my developing fantasy world. One of the assignments was to make your own company and produce products or advertising to support it. The most fun I had was making a mock cereal box, named after one of the towns in my fantasy world called “Shiningmoon Toasted Crunch.” I took a picture of cat food in a bowl of milk, and superimposed artwork of three figures wearing chef hats, two of them looking quite normal, one of which was holding a giant spoon, one was pouring a giant pitcher of milk, and one horrible undead skeletal ghost thing, also wearing a chef’s hat and holding a giant strawberry. Guess who! Yes, that was the first time that the evil, undead, mad-wizard Kankennon was associated with a healthy breakfast, but it certainly wouldn’t be the last. Even on the back of the box, kids could “send away for” their own glow-in-the-dark chef Kankennon squishy doll. This greatly delighted my gaming group back home when I brought back all of the silly props and projects that I’d made in Arizona once I’d returned home in 1992, because before then Kankennon had always been such a seriously evil recurring bad guy. They were even more baffled at how I’d gotten such good grades on all this stuff with my professors. (I think most of them had given me extra ‘brownie points’ for originality.) Forever then, Kankennon was still known for being horribly evil, sarcastic, and manipulative, yet was also famous for his superb baked goods.
Well, the Chucklez part was easy enough to come up with. It's what I was called in High School. More people knew me as Chucklez than as Josh actually.
So when I signed up over at News Chucklez was my name.
As for the !s, well thats a bit embarasing. At first it was understandable, I was without internet for a a few months and didn't really post or sign in anyway, so I fogot the password. Since my new internet wasn't using the terrible AOL I no longer had the email to reset the password, so I signed up again. This time as Chucklez!. But then, like a complete newb, I forgot THAT password. I had also switched emails again. So I signed up yet again, this time for the last time (excluding coming to Sally and Gimmicks) as !Chucklez!.
And now you know....the rest, of the story.

Alacar Leoricar actually just started off as Alacar. Way back a long ways a time ago, my grammar didn't suck as badly But seriously, I had been given the opportunity to change my AOL screen name from Kirby50313 (I loved Kirby's Adventure back in the day). At the time I had discovered the wonder of Neverwinter Nights on AOL, and chat room role-play. So, I tried to think of a cool name for my character. Alacar. It popped into my head. Something from 'alackazam' or something. Contrary to popular belief, it had not been derived from Castlevania. In fact, I have yet to even play any Castevania game.
Anyways, after picking the name, I had to make a storyline for my character. I had to make a plot. So I made a plot (which I'll spare you from reading here. PM me if you wanna know more). I needed a last name for my character. I was playing Diablo at the time, and the king's name was Leoric. That sounded cool. I picked it and made it go smooth with Alacar, a half-elf fighter/wizard that since then has become near and dear to my heart. I use him all the time.
Back when I played an online game called Utopia, out group's theme was decided to be latin phrases. I was as power trippy back then as I am now, plus obsessed with the game Deus Ex. Thus I named myself Deus Ex Absolution.
I later thought that'd be an awesome AIM name, so I took upon the new AIM name.
Days later, my friends taking latin classes notified me that my name was poor grammar. It was supposed to be Deus Ex Absolutionis. I thought I could change my AIM name to that, but alas it only allows 16 characters. I thought of taking "Absolution" alone. But I was too attached to my current name to change.
Later on, I thought of registering to a bunch of forums to which I thought "Absolutionis" would work well.
Absolutionis in latin, conjugated in that fashion, means perfection or absolution in an apotheotic sort of way.

My last name is Passer, and rather than people calling me by my first name I get variations on my last name including Pass. It isn't pronounced like 'pass the ball', but more like the word 'passive'.
Anyway, when I was in high school my friends and I noticed a trend in the language of some of the other kids - they wanted to talk like rappers. As a joke we started speaking to each other in the same way, calling each other 'dog', '*****', n*****, etc. I love reading TFE's posts because they often remind me of the way we talk.
Anyway, I ended up being Passdog and it has stuck till this day.
I remembered a long time ago reading an article in a magazene where when describing a puzzle, after tapping a lot of stuff, "Your opponent makes some corny joke about tap-dancing" my title wrote itself from that

I think you mean "PoN", but it seems to me that "PwN" is more appropriate
(the 'w' stands for 'win', I think)

I think that WoTC felt that a lot of the players thought Standard was becoming mundane and a joke from all the nuked cards floating around. R&D took a vacation, and MaRo just started reprinting things.
Hmm. I, at least, pronounce 'pass' and the first syllable of 'passive' in the same way.
You appear to be from Australia, though, so accent differences account for that.
Actually North American's tend to get my name right more often than Aussies or Brits. As you said different accents ('pass' the ball is more like 'parse' here).
I was reading Shonen Jump when it first came out and stopped myself while reading the "LOL LETS LAERN JAPANEES!1" section, when I came across the two kanji that make up my now tag. The name translates out into "demon" and "person" as "a demonically evil person" or "fiend". There's a longwinded philisophical reason I took up the name, but it's now staying as my internet tag. If you see someone online using this tag and it is not me, tell them I'm coming for them.
Freshman year of College some friends and I tried to decide which LotR characters we were most like. I was torn between Gimli and Sam (now I know that I'm much more like Sam), so I decided to make the two names combined into my AIM screenname, and it stuck with me as my name in online fora as well.
