I know this thread is bringing up sarcasm, but can we cut the sarcasm on this thread out for awhile? It isn't conducive to any form of argument here.
If I may bring up a point on sarcasm from a completely outsider view here.....
Sarcasm is never constructive or conducive. We may all at one time or an other feel that sarcasm is enjoyable becasue we might feel that others would agree with our "witty" statements, but sarcasm is rarely ever witty. The origins of the word sarcasm come from Egypt and mean to slowly and painfully peel the skin off of a nother. It was a common form of torture.
But I have digressed from my point. Coming from a person who used to be sarcastic alot, sarcasm is of its self a blatant form of disrespect. I am purposely not going to cite any of the statements made on the thread this thread is commonly reffering to. I have no authority in the matter and wish to stay impartial and moderate. But I must declare that sarcasm should not be tolerated by any person --mod or otherwise. It is far from me to decide the actions to be taken for those who commit disrespect. I wish it was possible to sit disrecpectful people down and talk to them face to face and possibly change there minds/attitudes. But that only works in the real world...okay not really.
I must apologize. Im sure this seems like nothing more than the ramblings of some member who randomly stepped into a conversation for mods of which he had no business. I'm sorry, but I felt the urge to add my 2 cents.
I'd prefer if this didnt kinda... dissipate before there was some form of administrative response. Note, the argument isnt that the Infractions weren't warranted, most of them were, and the rest atleast had a good case made for them.
The PROBLEM is that there was a quite "Im better then you" attitude to them, trying to preach aobut respect for administration, whilst being disrespectful themselves.

This was months ago.
At that time, MD had already gotten into arguments with other staff members, and presumably, the moderators handling the thread had run out of patience for him.
Slightly unprofessional, sure. I don't like seeing these kinds of things happen, but everyone is human.
Staff isn't > anyone here. I do not support these kinds of attitudes and I do like seeing less of them, and I don't know what else to say on the matter.
As said many times, the thread in question is months old. Every post is being taken out of context. (of the state of MD's shenanigganery)

Reading the debate and the original posts, I must say that MD and Themchops were both asking to be banned; but there must be some arena where we can publicly take issue with a mod's decisions, particularly where (I'm afraid) a poster of a different generation sees and takes issue with personalities and needs to call them to order based on what they have said rather than what they have said. An opinion from a different perspective is sometimes needed on a debate that otherwise might get out of control. To that end I suspect I will be posting more to this forum than to others at the moment, given that they also load quicker than the Magic and Debate forums too.
Also moderators should use moderate language and not tease or bully the people they warn by using sarcasm or off-colour language. I haven't seen many of these kind of warnings yet but moderation should be serious business not an excuse to degenerate into personal abuse.

The appropriate forum for debates or questions about mod behavior should be placed on a moderator's help desk, which Themchops moved the discussion to after we Seds locked the thread.

Case, I'm sorry for that post. It was made in anger. I posted on Kraj's desk anyway. I think I was making a comment on Stormblind's original post with reference to my own problem, but I did stand on ceremony a bit there.
Don't drink and post, people.

Man - I hate that I just noticed this thread now, I would have had plenty to say. But I'll leave it be.
Hope this doesn't constitute necro'ing...but I just had to say it. Next time someone PM me so I can at least check it out before all the heat dies down.
For all interested parties - meet me at Worlds, I do autographs.
Next time you post popular opinions, please word them in such a way that they're not infractable. Someone may be widely thought to be the dullest tool in the shed, but you can't publicly call him that, which as a mod I can neither confirm nor deny that I fervently believe he's a tool.
Mods, whether there was sarcasm in that thread or not, you are moderators, and being a moderator you are held to a higher standard than the average member. Case, seriously, grow some skin. If you can't handle even a little bit of sarcasm maybe you're not mature enough to handle the job.

Agreed.
As far as the rest of the thread goes, I personally once received a warning for replying to a thread asking how to deal with depression by posting something like "I poke smot," which earned me a warning or something like that where the response was a moderator saying "You spost pam." Almost every warning in red text I've ever seen (or at least, all of the ones that stick with me - it could be either one) has had an attitude of oneupmanship to it.

Except for the parenthetical statement, I agree with you. A couple of the mods have a sense of humor and them making jokes at the expense of people breaking the rules is part of MTGS's charm.
I am going to leave this open and NOT hand out additional necro warnings, since the issues raised in this thread are important to the community as a whole. Please try to keep it on topic, and remember that if you have a specific problem or an issue with a specific moderator, PM that moderator or post on their helpdesk rather than air it here. This thread is for the issue itself.
And yes, no incantatrix for you. Or anyone. That class makes puppies cry. Mostly because they are the former Big Bads who have been Baleful Polymorphed into said puppies. By you. Because you're an incantatrix.

Hi all, I don't have the high post count (and thus experience) of most of the people on this thread, but here is what I have gathered.
I think that what most posters are asking for is warnings and infractions to be handed out as they were in post #38. Personally, I believe that a majority of people on this forum want to learn and follow the rules, but they don't want it done in a way that they perceive as a threat to their dignity. Pride seems to be important to a lot of people here (don't ask me why, we all have our theories) and most people believe that there is a way to learn the rules with pride intact.
Therefore, people are discouraged when such a method is not applied and that's how these drama-filled situations begin.
P.S. I'm not saying modding is easy, but that's why not everyone can be one, no?
