If we clearly aren't aloud to you bold red text, why is that an available color when typing something. Wouldnt it make more sense to not let the color red be used at all by people other than moderators, instead of daring people to use it just to give out warnings and infractions? I'm sure red isn't so important to MTGS that we couldn't go on without it. It just shouldn't be an option to click on!

When I die, I want to go peacefully like my Grandfather did, in his sleep - not screaming, like the passengers in his car.
But still, its like giving a child a cookie and saying it can't have 1/8 of it. Its so tempting just to put the whole thing in your mouth... P.S. This isnt red, its dark red...

Um, this is a forum for a childrens card game... I'm pretty sure its for children and those creepy adults... (excluding cool college people)
Well, actually, MtG's packaging now says 13+, placing it above children and within the range of teenagers. And as for us creepy adults, its lucky for us that there's enough depth and complexity for us to find it enjoyable too.
You know, before I had mod-powers, I never felt the desire to type in mod-text. But I can certainly imagine what a pain it would be to remove the programming for such a thing. Not to mention, the fact that red doesn't have just one rgb value; it has a decent sized selection of them. Much messier than just saying "Rule X.) Don't type in bold red text."

Besides, who wants to write like an 8th grade English teacher? Or a high school math teacher?
Hmm . . . wait a minute . . .
LOL!!

For real, there's some clever responses here that made me smile a lot.
Seriously though, I think the main reason it's still here as Johnmoo said, is because it's just part of colour spectrum thing that comes along in any message board and it's probably be preeeeetty hard to find a way to take it out.
I originally thought this was a 'why -can't-'. And as they said, the coding just would be a pain.
And if you mess with hex codes enough you can find a shade that's so close to one taken out that you could almost use it. We'd have to ban quite a number of reds.
It'd be NICE if we could just stop the programming from allowing a bold red about ten shades in either direction, but... We can't.
So... Just a rule against it. Don't use it in order to make sure people don't think its moderator action. Same reason why your teacher at school said don't use a red pen. Its there to mark out official comments (or what you did wrong in your grammar test) and saves us having to switch colors whenever someone wants to be an individual.

It seems complicated and unnecessary to add code for "remove red from the list unless [user] is a moderator", doesn't it?

I guess it's a good thing that this isn't really a forum for children.
