i have trouble figuring out what you would want to take out for those cards. the deck is sick becouse of aether vial, and you want to add cards that don't interact with aether vial. and i wouldn't want to lower the merfolk count or lessen the amount of counterspells in the deck. this leaves you two slots open to play with, and i would rather have meta specific cards in that slot (like stifle)
This thread makes me wish people could throw punches through computer monitors.
I think the best thing to do would be to fire up MTGO or MWS and have at it with each of your builds. That ought to settle the score. I mean, that's what the basis of the debate is. Settle it by playing the damn game.

exactly. :quote:
fire it up and see what you come up with. if you're winning 75% matches with these changes then by all means prove a guy wrong. i think i got ideas for days but until the statistics numbers prove them right I won't dare post them in anything but a deck in the making. that's what's great about magic. there are so many possibilities and cards that answer and cards that cause other cards to answer. sometimes you have people who manipulate these cards and force you to answer to a card you never had to answer to before. more power to those guys to a card that was deemed ""unplayable"" in ""X"" deck and i hope those guys keep making those "force to answer to"cards. that's what makes the game excited. but don't get excited because you automatically assume your oppinion lays the foundation. now, grant it i like your state of mind. just back it up and prove it play worthy in a competetive meta game because that's ultimately what the competetive contructed forums is for. decks that have proven "wtf"worthy over hundreds of games granting them thier own deck name.
don't get me wrong i like your rebellion towards free thought in magic just prove that's all. you prove it and people will play your changes and test them all day.
Saying a card is not competitive is pretty hostile too considering I want to participate on this forum like everyone else, and last I checked I'm the only one that is getting hostile comments like that. No one else has been.
That sounds to me like reasonable debate regarding the viability of a certain card in a deck.

It is okay to say "hey, I like this card." And it's equally okay for other people to say, "that doesn't show up in competitive decks."
It's not just a matter of opinion, it's a matter of what's tried and true. If you are a competitive, successful legacy player, arguing one on one, then maybe we have to give you the B.O.D.
When the rest of the group agrees that a card is second tier (like Unstable Mutation) and sites it's total absence in any competitive deck, then the card *is* second tier. There are objectively bad cards.
If you felt like people were a little harsh, well... they might've thought you were trolling. Frankly, some of the cards you suggested sounded like jokes. You might want to consider going by "Grimness" or something. I'm not telling you to change your name, but it could avoid some misunderstandings.
I've posted cards (and decks) SO bad that people thought I was trolling/spamming. It is kind of embarrassing, but you realize that Sally is good at card evaluation and deck building, and try and learn.
I know it feels like arrogance, but if you look up T8 lists of the legacy deck in question, you're going to see the same cards people here are talking about. The legacy staples are no secret.
Join rogue deckbuilders or post in casual if you really want to prove underused cards are good. Or go out and win a tournament.

I'll be sad if people don't start calling The Chain Veil "Fleetwood Mac."
@Troll_ov_Grimness: People should not be making fun of you personally, and don't have any right to do so. They do have, however, every right to make fun of the cards you pick, and the reasons you have picked them. This is true not just for your cards and choices, but everyones.
Now, about your points on people disagreeing with you.
If everyone on a competitive forum thinks you're wrong, chances are you are. Despite your age, you should bow to their advanced experience. In fact, THAT'S THE REASON THE FORUM EXISTS IN THE FIRST PLACE. People on those forums probably play magic more often than you do at a more competitive level, and the people that won with the deck in question almost defiantly did.
You should be posting on the forum to learn how to be better at magic, not to try and connivance more experienced people you're right.
Now, maybe you did discover the next 'secrete tec.' If that is the case, I would suggest going out and winning a big tournament with it to PROVE you did, like the people with the deck you're trying to 'fix' did. in stead of trying to argue that your right, go play test and win a tournament to prove you're right.
