Ehh, I was looking through the currently banned/suspended list, and DR.JEEBUS IS BANNED!
Ehh, im not going to say anything about the decisions you make, but dont you kind of feel bad when you ban someone who has contributed to teh site quite a lot?
Posting on his new account, did he do anything wrong? Perhaps he was trying to contribute the the site more?
Just wondering...

No, I know I don't feel bad. Positive contributions do not outweigh consistent rules breakage.

Aside from evading his suspension, which is in and of itself wrong?

Sadly enough, I'd have to agree with {MikeyG} on this one. Of all the dubious bannings on this site, this would hardly qualify. Yes, Dr. Jeebus was a contributor to the community but he has been suspended multiple times before already (or at the least this was his second). Factor that in with the fact that he has thousands of posts and he should know better than to try and run around his suspension. It's a well known fact around here that suspension evasion is a severe offense.
Maybe there could be a re-entry program for people like Jeebus.
Obviously Jeebus committed a bannable offense, and this site has to be consistant. But... man, he was kind of awesome.
I know we can't do anything on his behalf, but it would be nice to have an "appealing a ban" procedure. It could look like this.
-A written apology
-Minimum of 40 days gone, like a big suspension.
-6 months probation
That way a person who puts in some effort could come back if they really wanted to, and then if they earn an infraction after being banned... well, you guys at least gave em a shot.
I'm not proposing this for Jeebus in particular, but it'd be nice to have a ban appeal procedure.
I've seen a lot of other members who had something like 3,000 posts, and were banned. You'll go and look up their ban, and it'll be something like... mentioning burning CDs. Yeah, they should've known better, but when someone has 5000 insightful posts and 10 questionable ones, it'd be nice to see them come back some day, if they learned to follow the rules.

Yeah, there is absolutely no case for anything happening besides what did. The rules are black and white on this one. Evade your suspension: Get banned. He evaded his suspension. He got banned. That's literally all there is to it. And as long as he had been on the site, I am 100% positive he had seen others get banned for exactly the same thing, just as everybody else has seen, and did it anyway. This thread could be moved to special occasions as a sort of "goodbye" thread, I suppose, but otherwise it doesn't have much purpose. Rules are rules.
How would one qualify to be "like Jeebus?" Over the years there have been LOTS and LOTS of "famous personalities" that have gotten perma-banned.
If you get perma-banned, you get permanently banned. It really does not matter if you "didn't mean it," which was not the case in this case anyway.
Jeebus was around long enough to know what he was doing. He took the risk, and got what he got.
I'm not saying this would be a golden parachute for regular members.
Probably about 1% of the people who have been banned would condescend to write a written apology. Not saying Dr. Jeebus would, but it's not a bad time to bring it up.
I know Jeebus earned a ban under the current rules. I've been here a tenth of the time he has, and I know evading suspension is practically asking for a ban.
I guess this could be moved to a "goodbye" thread. Even if there was a way for banned members to come back, most wouldn't do it or would mess it up.
I'm just going to miss Dr. Jeebus pwning noobs.

You can't just offer certain members of the community a second chance after being banned. He was either arrogant enough or dumb enough to do what he did, and he paid the price, there's truly no reason why he should be given another chance. It's his responsibility to know the rules (which he did) and abide by them (which he didn't).

Really? I guess that just goes to show how different your perspective can be when you have access to the behinds-the-scenes stuff. I'd wager there's few on staff that would consider Jeebus 'awesome'. I know for my part, I pretty much only saw him as a problem poster with a long list of infractions to match. And I'm sure many members here would agree given the amount of reported posts I've gotten to report instances of Jeebus flaming or trolling. Particularly in Debate.
Not to **** on his memory or whatever, just offering a very different perspective on the poster.
I'm not proposing this for Jeebus in particular, but it'd be nice to have a ban appeal procedure.
I'd say the site is lenient enough given how hard it is to get banned. One actually has to work for it at this point.
(and do note that while we generally laugh at ban appeals, we do accept and consider suspension appeals)
And really, its hard to get banned. I've been suspended like...four times I think? As long as you don't push it and know when to shut the hell up, you should have no trouble not getting banned. He absolutely called it down upon himself.
I'm not saying this would be a golden parachute for regular members.

I'm not sure you understand what I mean by "famous personalities." There have been founding members of the site that have gotten banned. Global Moderators, and even pillars of the community.
Salvation has a long and bloody history of all KINDS of people getting perma-banned for lots and lots of different reasons. (I hope when I get banned, someone starts a thread like this for me. But that's all I hope for. If you get banned, you don't come back)
All I remember about this guy are a few posts about power creep that made sense. No one gets power creep right. (Or agrees with me.)
Although I do remember seeing other people post responses like "wow this is the first time I've agreed with Dr. Jeebus" so maybe it was just a lucid moment for him.
I guess he's said some things that upset people, but I just don't remember it.
And I know old mods have been banned. But mostly for things like ripping. I don't really give a toot about those people.

You can get banned for posting great stuff in the wrong forum if you do it enough. And recently, someone got banned for horrendous grammar (that was a doozy). But oddly, you can't get banned for stealing from children.
<wink wink, :)>
Edit: If you do in a Market Place trade you can. My bad.

Don't get me wrong, it was funny.XD But watch out when touching religion, as a Catholic, I can tell you some people could take that the wrong way.

As for the "person" who got banned for poor grammar, not to start this up again, but he did deserve it every bit as much as Jeebus. Same set of rules for everyone...

It may sound mean, but when Annorax got an infraction in Market Street, it made my day.
No one escapes the law. It should be the same for everyone.
Sorry to rain on your parade, but unless this was in the days before Annorax was a mod, then he wasn't infracted.
Even if a mod edits his post saying he got infracted he still didn't get infracted. Mods can't infract other mods, and I'm not even sure admins can. Though I'm sure Annorax has his fair share of infractions before he started moderating

Actually, yes there was. Of course, Xenphire was a really, really notable exception from over 3 years ago. And he was rebanned. So, if you do something to get yourself banned, then you are going to do it again if you get unbanned.

By evading a suspension you ask for banning... one does not **** with the mods and that's about all that's to it.
However it's sad that Dr.Jeebus chose that way of ending his contribution to this site.
