Sigh...
Not only has MaRo stated MULTIPLE TIMES that there will be no way to remove poison counters from yourself, SoLaS already gains you three life and SoFI already burns things. Please at least skim the thread before speculating.
Ok, pointing out something is one thing, but is it necassary to put "MULTIPLE TIMES" in all caps. No, it sort of say "NO YOU IDIOT" to someone who probably doesnt know any better. Also, I think expecting someone to read over 16 pages of text is a bit silly.
I don't know why they don't weed out all the pointless "OMG that art is so awesome, therefore I must get that card. Need playset NAO!" replies. No wonder these marketing ploys are so effective with all the mouth-breathers who will buy a bad game for a platform they don't even own, just to get an alternate version of a card they probably already have.
Just kind of mean to people who are honestly excited.
Sometimes, people make it blatantly obvious they have never played a format.
I hate this kind of put down "im better than you and heres why" mentallity. I don't consider myself a troll, albeit im pretty smarmy and I love sarcasm (as long as it doesnt hurt anyone).
All said and done, I cant see how the site owners can feel comfortable letting someone with this kind of attitude run the place, but for all I know he is the owner so I my argument may be completely awash. Ill close with this:
I think the problem stems from the mentality.. That every idea you have must be special and ought to be heard. It's this odd sense of entitlement that leads to posts/threads that probably wouldn't exist if the OP just spent a few minutes thinking about things.

Elitism
Elitism
OMG Elitism
Did you notice that none of your examples were staff at all? That you're saying we need to change the name of a forum, or the mentality, because of the members? Perhaps you should be preaching to them?
As for the elitism? I do apologize, but that's simply not elitism. On Salvation, we expect you to read posts you respond to, and we expect you to think when you respond to the posts. A thoughtless post, or a post that isn't even responding to the previous one, doesn't help discussion. It certainly doesn't help in finding the real cards in the fake ones. Mikey's pointing that out. He's also pointing out that, if you want a more lax forum in those regards, they do exist. But there is a standard that 'Salvation holds itself to.

Unless, he did? You all seem to be pretty proud of being elitists. You shouldn't be surprised to be called out for it. Being an elitist isn't always a *bad* thing... unless you don't want to be elitist? Because what you are all saying is that you think you have higher standards and that your forum is better because of it. And that falls directly under elitism.... :/ You believe you are the elite. And, yeah, that can be off putting. If its what you want though, its what you get.
There are two kinds of "elitism". For lack of better descriptors, they are meritocratic and aristocratic. The first is elitism of the form "if X has better standards/performance/etc., X is better [in the relevant domain]". The second is elitism of the form "X is better [in some domain]. Therefore, whatever standards/performance/etc. X puts out is better." In practical terms, it is the difference between "John is the strongest and smartest, so he should be the king" and "John is the king, so he must be the strongest and smartest."
The latter kind is almost universally unreasonable and a bad thing. The former, however, is almost universally reasonable and a good thing. Unless you think that having higher standards doesn't actually make one better in the applicable domain?
The term "elitist" as a pejorative is the result of the former, and for some reason is occasionally applied to the latter, as if it's a bad thing. Do you think it's bad to value being better at something?
Generally people that sling around the term "elitist" all willy-nilly only do so because their argument has no legs to stand on. This certainly isn't an exception.
In neither my post nor Mikey's post did we say that 'Salvation is BETTER than another forum. We simply said we're more strict. And Mikey gave him a link to a forum that isn't as much. Any further insinuations is entirely on the part of the reader.

Sweet, sweet farking irony.
Whatever point you're trying to make here, I don't think you succeeded.
