Ah...babying you is not in the job description. Sorry. I've moderated other sites, and I gotta say, this is a big frustration. See, even if he had said please? You still wouldn't have liked it. So far, your attitude has seemed like you think the mods are here to hiold your hand, and if they don't, they're jerks. Let's shed some light on that, yes? Their job is to enforce the rules, monitor activity, manage their sub-forums, and deal with the issues on their helpdesk in a mature, helpful way. I have seen all the moderators do this, and, when they are wrong? I've seen them fix things. They aren't unreasonable, they're not arrogant, they're just not here to hold your hand.
Instead of doing everything you can to stay angry at them, maybe just chill out, let it go, and do exactly what Vess said. That's how I got started here- Started in the Rumor Mill, moved into General and Rulings, got infracted once or twice, got some warnings, and stuck back in therumor Mill for a while. soon, when I seemed to have a grasp on the community from posting there and lurking elsewhere, I branched out into Casual Magic, soon Forum Games, Clans, and custom Card Creation. It took a month, but it was worth it. I love the community here, and I wear my Infractions and Warnings that I do have like scars: Not something I'm proud of, but something that made me stronger.
Instead of being bitter, try just learning from your mistakes. Being reasonable and being a pushover are two very different things, and the mods here are no pushovers. You've learned that the hard way.
They're also reasonable, and do listen to the community when the community speaks, hence this thread.
If you can't see that, maybe you need to take a step back from the internet for a while, and remember: Moderation isn't personal, so don't take it that way.

Currently Getting Back into the swing of MTGS. Bear with me folks~
Agreed with above poster. I don't understand your anger man. When I created this account yesterday I was shown the rules, won't lie I did not read the whole thing, hahaha. But even above this text box I'm writing in there is a reminder to read them. If I ever break one, I'll know it's because I skipped it or didn't understand it, and it will be my own fault.
I like this site because it's not full of guys calling each other names and all that. I'm a member in other two forums not about games and moderation is harsher there.
Also, you ask for politeness and call people jerks? No good bro.
While I think this post should not have been created by this OP I have seen a few mods that are ignorant and seem to think they are always right. However this is only one or two and I appreciate the MTGS mod community.
Am I the only one with the suspicion that Kroma is a troll account? It seems like he's intentionally trying to break rules and insult people.
Likely the case. Some pissed off regular (or non) is either too afraid to post the thread himself or doesn't want a biased response because of that account, so a new one is made to hide their honest thoughts behind a mask of mystery.
My first impression of the mods here was similar to that of an internment camp guard. I have learned to appreciate the strict adherence to rules from the community here because of their diligence, thereby respecting mod decisions. Warnings are just that, a warning, something to learn from. I've even posted things I knew ahead of time would be infracted or warned. I dont think the mods take many things personally, its mostly just about recording behavior over a period of time to weed out truly bad apples.

Yes! Exactly. I mean that and he just barely joined, has made 6 posts with over half of which having blatant rules violations. Just seems kind of fishy. Seems like some angry member, possibly even a banned member that came here to talk trash. I could be wrong but that's my guess.
It's not difficult for mods to check for IP matches between different accounts. That's how a lot of gimmicks of suspended or banned members are found.
Gimmicks aren't against the rules if you're not using one to get around something like that, but if the intention is simply to try to be anonymous while trolling mods then it's kind of pointless.
Which isn't necessarily the case here, but, you know, if anyone was thinking about trying it... don't.
You have to read the rules, if you don't, ignorance won't save you around here
That said, I have no issues with the mods, they seem strict on enforcing the rules, which as an avid trader makes me happy b/c they tend to catch the majority of the cheaters.
It's especially humorous to read the banned thread, one of the mods, can't remember his name has a great knack for making me laugh with his wit as he tells the tale of why "insert name" was banned. Good for a laugh before bedtime
I think they've actually been pretty lenient towards you as you've not only managed to flame the moderators, but you've probably just called the entire board "Ignorant Jerks".
Maybe they're hoping you don't come back with that kind of attitude, well at least I can say that I hope for such a day.
Quite frankly you need to chill out. If you don't like it here, leave. It's that simple. No one is forcing you to stay here (and quite frankly, I wouldn't be one to stop you).
Maybe your used to more relaxed moderation on other forums, but this isn't one of them because the moderators use common sense, which can be hard to find in quite a few other forums as it is.
If I had a quarter for every time a poster in CI/SYM responded to Binary as though he were staff while he has not been staff, I would be a very very rich man.
This is a matter for individual mod's helpdesks. If you think a staff is handling your infraction poorly, even if you deserved the infractions, it's best to approach them and, failing anything there, higher up the chain of command.
In each of your infractions and still in this thread, you could avoid all of this noise by just reading the rules and going along with them. Doing the former would have been productive; going about it this way is proving much less so.

You'd think the signature unequiovcally stating I am no longer on staff would have fixed this, but it's actually gotten worse since I did that.

I may be banned very soon, so this is probably my last post here
Is not that i have something against law and order but i think a Magic the gathering community doesn't require the iron fisted moderation seen here (with the exception of the trading subforums) I for one play magic for fun and competition, but mainly i like having fun. When i go to a forum i like posting information but i also like to tell a joke here and there and make friends, apparently these are considered "spam" here. (Perhaps they feel 16kbs of txt takes too much space?) but if i post several pages worth of information (Go read tempered steel) and then make a post with a joke on it, do i really have to get an infraction?
There's a difference between following the rules to the letter and just being prudent when to pull the trigger. I dont talk about every mod here but, quite a few are on some kind of power trip playing the internets tough guy. I really don't care for myself, i have other things to do that i should be doing. I just like to say that i don't feel comfortable with this level of moderation, the internet is a pretty big place so ill just move somewhere else, im just in it for the fun and helping the community, i already have enough stress from my work and personal life to having to put up with this *bleep* online. if im not wanted here ill just move on.
Thanks for everyone who has been my friend so far, take care

If you think you'd be banned for this post, I think you don't have a solid grasp on how the mods conduct themselves at all.

The OP hasn't been banned yet despite point-blank calling the mods "trolls" and "ignorant jerks." Please explain how this statement is at all indicative of anything other than a gross exaggeration.

Paranoid delusion. Pretty typical for someone with 100 posts and enough run-ins with mods to think they're on a power trip. Both that post and the OP are clearly the issue, not the mods.
Personally I'm quite happy with the mods here. I've never run into any that were power hungry or abused their position, and in a recent delicate situation they behaved quite professionally and were much more lenient than I expected. I'm sure there are some mods who may abuse their power just a bit, but people like that can be found in any position of power, not just moderators on this site.
One point of contention though: whenever I see threads like this, it always seems the mods are more lenient. I can understand how it would look bad if someone was banned or infracted several times for "calling out the mods" but I think they should still dish out punishment where it's due in these threads. Maybe I'm just over thinking it.

This is the "Community Issues" and things like this are on-topic. It's not that they are more lenient so much as this kind of discussion is most appropriate for this forum and typically people grumble, but aren't crossing the line with direct personal attacks. Obviously it can toe the Troll/Flame line but usually it doesn't cross it.

Unlike what posts like Zeriel's would have you believe, the staff doesn't going around shutting down threads and banning people for legitimate criticism.
Calling the mods "ignorant jerks" is not legitimate criticism, and moderator action was taken on that posts, as the modtext indicates.

You don't seem in any danger of being banned (unless you plan to suddenly start ripping or the like). You have 2 infractions, one of which is slated to expire in a couple days. Worst case scenario, you get an infraction today and take three or four days off.
We welcome you to joke with your fellow users, just make sure that you include some content in your posts. Some of our most well-liked users are famous for how they work in witty jokes into their posts, but those posts still make a meaningful comment on the subject of the thread. It is something that takes getting used to, but it means that everyone here can have a good time, both those that want a laugh and those more focused on the topic at hand.
We want you have fun here, just as long as it doesn't detract from the enjoyment of the other posters here.
