You may have noticed some changes to the main forum index in the past hour. If you were actively using the forum during this time, I apologize if your usage was impeded, but after some extended discussion amongst the staff, I moved forward with reorganizing the forums today. Major changes involve:
Removal of the "MTGSalvation" forum section. Upcoming Events was retired, and the other subforums were moved to other sections.
Increased visibility for Magic Fundamentals - The Rumor Mill should now appear at the very top of the index.
"The Game" was renamed to "Magic Formats", and some of the forum names were standardized EDIT: The root section was renamed back to "The Game" due to technical issues.
Creation of "Community Forums", with "Community Discussion" (formerly "Community Issues") at the top, followed by non-forum game previously found in "Outside Magic"
Technical Support is now a subforum of Community Discussion - "Forum Software Feedback and Bug Reports"
Creation of "Forum Games", to house all forum games!
My apologies for the delay in responding, but an explanation is warranted. In discussions on what the major traffic areas of the site were (and therefore what warranted forum index towards the top of the forum main page), we felt that giving Rumor Mill (and by association, Magic Fundamentals) a higher profile. There had already been talk of removing Upcoming Events, since it was not as well-trafficked as we would like, so it made sense to remove the MTGSalvation section and migrate Community Issues (now Community Discussion) and Introduce Yourself further down with other non-directly Magic-related sections. Technical Support becoming a subforum of Community Discussion came out of wanting to reduce the number of places a user would need to go to find help.
The various formats in "The Game" were reworked to streamline the setup for Vintage and Standard, which was also partially prompted by the desire to retire Standard Competitive.
Once the above overhauls were in discussions, the delineation between forum games and discussion forums seemed like an additional element worth exploring, and was agreed upon by the staff. Humor being collapsed into the Speakeasy and Avatars & Sig Shops becoming a subforum of Artwork were prompted by traffic and a sense that while the communities may be different groups of people, there was some overlap in terms of interests.
If you have any other questions about specific changes, I'd be happy to follow up on them.
I'm with Gal and Jiva. The changes made were unnecessary and caused more confusion and now hassle to find what you are looking for then any good that could come of it.
