Quote from Cythare »My apologies for the delay in responding, but an explanation is warranted. In discussions on what the major traffic areas of the site were (and therefore what warranted forum index towards the top of the forum main page), we felt that giving Rumor Mill (and by association, Magic Fundamentals) a higher profile. There had already been talk of removing Upcoming Events, since it was not as well-trafficked as we would like, so it made sense to remove the MTGSalvation section and migrate Community Issues (now Community Discussion) and Introduce Yourself further down with other non-directly Magic-related sections. Technical Support becoming a subforum of Community Discussion came out of wanting to reduce the number of places a user would need to go to find help.
The various formats in "The Game" were reworked to streamline the setup for Vintage and Standard, which was also partially prompted by the desire to retire Standard Competitive.
Once the above overhauls were in discussions, the delineation between forum games and discussion forums seemed like an additional element worth exploring, and was agreed upon by the staff. Humor being collapsed into the Speakeasy and Avatars & Sig Shops becoming a subforum of Artwork were prompted by traffic and a sense that while the communities may be different groups of people, there was some overlap in terms of interests.
If you have any other questions about specific changes, I'd be happy to follow up on them.

Quote from Choirgirl Hotel »I love that about Lands. You can go all kinds of crazy.
Quote from Sparki »There's just something about winning with just lands and the frustration this deck causes.
Quote from necrogenesis »Playing millions of cards every turn... Slowly and systematically obliterating any chance my opponent has of winning... Clicking the multitude of locking mechanisms into place... Not even trying to win myself until turn 10+ once I have nigh absolute control... Watching my opponent desperately trying to navigate the labyrinthine prison that I've constructed... Seeing the light of hope fade and ultimately extinguished in an excruciatingly slow manner... THAT'S fun Magic.
Quote from WyvernSlayer »...I need an aspirin. Never should have clicked on this thread.
Quote from Sheepz »...apparently it's much more fun to put on tinfoil hats and roll in some salt.
Quote from Galspanic »Didn't want to bother reading the previous few posts eh?
Quote from Shmanka »We have 2-3 users that are dramatically making this thread incomprehensible and non-productive for anyone else to possibly join in the discussion. This needs to change.
Quote from Valanarch »If you have the time to be arguing about the article, why don't you have the time to read it?
Quote from ktkenshinx »We can't start off the spoiler season already misusing terms! IT'S TOO EARLY FOR THAT.
Quote from MrM0nd4y »Every time I see [ktkenshinx] post in here, I get the impression of a stern dad walking in on a bunch of kids trying to do something dumb and just shaking his head in disappointment.
Quote from Richard Arschmann »TCGPLAYER OFFICIAL CARD GRADING GUIDELINES
Near Mint: The same as Slightly Played, but we threw some Altoids in the box we stored it in to cover up the scent of dead mice.
Slightly Played: The base condition for all MTG cards. This card looks OK, but there’s one minor annoying ding in it that will always irritate and distract you whenever you draw it.
Moderately Played: This card looks like it survived the Tet Offensive tucked inside the waistband of GI underwear. It may smell like it, too.
Heavily Played: This card looks like the remains of Mohammed Atta’s passport after 9/11. It may be playable if you double-sleeve it to stop the chunks from falling out. The condition formerly known as "Washing Machine Grade"
Damaged: This card is the unfortunate victim of a Mirrorweave/March of the Machines/Chaos Confetti/Mindslaver combo.
