What are Notifications?
When certain things occur on our site (example: someone leaves you trade feedback), a notification can be made to alert you of that occurrence. Most actions that can generate a notification will always create that notification for your notification icon, but you can adjust whether or not you also receive an email for this notification. You can also adjust if you receive individual notifications for each of these, or lump them into one single email each day.
How to Get to Your Notifications Page
To adjust your notification settings, go to your notifications settings page. You can access this by going to your account dropdown and clicking on "My Account". This will take you to your account area, and on the left there is a "Notifications" tab. You will see the following page:
Daily Digest
The first option is whether you wish to receive a single email daily that lists all new notifications, or if you want to receive individual emails for each new notification. If you want to elect for the single daily email, check the option "Send email notifications as a daily digest instead of immediately". If you want to keep up with what's going on in your email, but you've been getting overloaded with too many, this is the option you want. If you browse throughout the day and want to be kept up to date as things happen through the day, you want to leave this option unchecked.
Email Delivery Options
When you select the Daily Digest option, you can adjust when the digest is sent. Selecting the Digest will give you the Email Delivery Options - it won't show if you haven't selected the Daily Digest, since it applies only to the digest. Here you can select only particular days you want emails, and the times of the day that sending is acceptable. Leaving everything unchecked and blank will simply defer to the default once per day, around midnight CST. If you select specific days, you will only receive emails on those days. If you select a time for those days, the email will be sent within those times.
Receive Everything In Email
If you want to receive everything in email, you can quickly check the "Receive All Notifications in Email" at the top which will automatically select all options.
The Options
Now we get to the actual options of what you want an email notification for. Checking any of these options will include them as something you want to receive an email notification for. When one of the checked options happens (such as one of your posts was moved), you will either receive an email within minutes, or it will be added to your daily digest - as above.
Article Options
All "Article" options apply to articles on the front page, as well as user blogs.
Automatically Subscribe Me..
Each of the "Automatically Subscribe Me.." options do not themselves make notifications. However, they will create a subscription that may then cause notifications based upon your preferences. For instance, if you check "Automatically Subscribe me to Threads I Post In" and you also have "Threads you are subscribed to" checked, you will receive an email notification for each new post on any thread you've posted in. Selecting an "Automatically Subscribe Me" is not retroactive, however. It will not subscribe you to threads you've already posted in before enabling the option, for example.
How to Stop All Emails
If you want to stop all emails, you need to turn off all notifications, and then opt out of all other emails. Go to your notifications page, as above, and uncheck all options. Everything on your notifications page should be unchecked. Save those changes, and then go to your Account Options. At the bottom of that page, uncheck "Allow Curse to send you Email" and save. With all notifications off, and this option unchecked, you should not receive any further emails.
