This is technically a custom card thing, but I figure it would be appreciated more here. Below are some famous magic card mock-ups done with artwork taken from famous primairly non-magic artists. The artists name is on each card. The post below has mini-bios.
Michael Whelan (Armageddon)
Famous for his D&D covers, Michael also painted the promotional Nalathni Dragon card given away at GenCon '96.
Luis Royo (Fallen Angel)
Royo is one of the few fantasy artists who can paint a face as well as a body. His paintings somehow feel similar, yet each is totally unique.
Julie Bell (Mirror Universe)
Wife of Boris Vallejo. Her style is very reminiscent of her husband, but her paintings tend to have a touch more whimsy.
Brom (Royal Assassin)
Arguably the most popular fantasy artist today. Brom's works tends to lean toward gothic and even fetish themes. He has also illustrated many famous Magic cards.
Boris Vallejo (Nightmare)
15 years ago if you where looking at a fantasy illustration there was a good chance it was by Boris. In many ways the father of the industry.
Larry Elmore (Yawgmoth Demon
Best known for his work with the Dragonlance covers, Elmore is responsible for most of the iconic Dragonlance character images.
Brian Froud (Elvish Spirit Guide)
The most well established fairies painter in the world. Ironically, his most famous work is not a painting, Brian designed creatures for the film Labyrinth.
Jae (Luminous Angel)
A relatively new artists, Jae creates amazing and dynamic illustrations using a hybrid of digital and real world techniques. He has done work on many CCGs.
Charles Vess (Priest of Titania)
Charles has been an artist since young enough to hold a crayon. A master of both pop and contemporary. His art is just as likely to be hanging at the nearest gallery as on the cover of the nearest comic book.
Dave McKean (Illusionary Mask)
A master of photo manipulation and composition, you would be hard pressed to NOT find a McKean somewhere in your home. From comics to magazines to album covers, McKeans work is everywhere.
Nice stuff, but isn't Julie Bell Boris Vallejo's wife (not daughter)? At least that's what I read elsewhere...

Wow, those are pretty cool. There's a local artist I'd really like to see do card art. His name's Chad Beatty and he does a lot of ultra-realistic landscapes reminiscent of Jon Avon. Here's an example:
